- An acoustic piano version of this Mark Knopfler classic from 1983 film Local Hero.
I grew up listening to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits on car journeys with my father, so sharing in that spirit from one fan to another. I'm not a professional pianist so please be gentle in your comments! I also play by ear, so there will be a few variations from the 'canon' version and mistakes - sorry!
If you would like more videos, I can play many Dire Straits tracks and lots of others besides, so please let me know in the comments, and of course liking and subscribing would help a great deal to grow this channel.
Thank you!
Graham
I chose this piece as my first Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits cover, as it's a beautiful melody and as an instrumental you don't have to endure my singing! What are your favourite MK/DS tracks? Let me know, and I'll try to do a cover of these soon ;) Thanks for stopping by!
"Going Home" - love this tune, and you play it very nicely.
Thank you!
Beautifully played sir! Nice dressing gown too! :D
A very nice, gentle rendition. I think Mark K would be happy with it. My wife and I used the soundtrack version in our wedding, in 1998. Cheers, Brendan.
This is lovely!
Thanks!
Who cares about if you are or not graduate in piano playng? I can see you play with heart and passion one of my favourite melody!
Thank you so much Nicola - that means a lot!
Can you please share sheet music for this? Can' find it anywhere on internet.
I’m afraid I just play it by ear, so I’ve never had the music for it, sorry... :(
Tears in my eyes... Fantastic
Hi Graham, local hero is my favorite. Where can I get a sheet music you play? Thanks in advance.
Tres Tres joli auriez vous la pagrtition ? Merci et bravo
This is wonderful! What a great arrangement. You should try to cover "Heart of Oak" from the album "Tracker", I bet it would sound really nice on piano! I'm eager to hear you play more DS/MK in the future. :)
Thanks so much Floyd Foxler - great idea!
