I'd love to see you try out some of the Flayed Ones, all the flesh and gore colors on top of all the metallic framing would be challenging but offer so much potential for customization!
You made an excellent choice. Necrons are a great starter for this kind of miniature painting. Easy, forgiving weathered metal with a few key details which provide unusual and interesting challenges, like glowing weapons.
First time seeing you, and I'm a long time 40k player. Instant sub. Seriously, your process is better than MANY 40k players, your step by step instruction makes this super easy for a beginner to see and feel confident in joining the hobby themselves, and your editing was clean and concise. I am thoroughly impressed and will be watching future videos! Seriously, great job man
You know, if you want to try and mix styles a bit, you could paint a Warhammer model like a gunpla model. Take a look at some of the Eldar mechs (like the Wraithknight) or the T'au mechs (like the Stormsurge). I think those could comfortably be painted like gunpla. Especially some of their larger resin models, like Titans or the Ta'unar, but those are quite the financial investment.
Those minis look amazing! I'm actually making the exact opposite journey right now going from 40k to gunpla and I've learned a lot about building/preparing models by doing so.
im so happy i found something to do thats not looking at a screen. I got home from work and built gunpla for 4 nights in a row and never turned on my tv or looked at my phone and i could feel my mental state change drasticly, cant wait to try warhammer, high cost for entry though
That's amazing. It's why I got into these hobbies. The simple sense of fulfillment from working on models and overcoming hurdles to get to the end results never gets old.
YES! As someone who comes from the military scale modelling side initially, I think a lot more Gunpla builders should try out or at least learn the techniques from not just mini painters but the guys who do scale models and even sculptors. There are so much you can learn from those adjacent to the hobby, that I wish more people try it out and it adds a ton of flare to your typical gunpla projects. Like as you say in the video, brush techniques are so underrated in the gunpla community and how brushes are somewhat treated as just a step before you get an AB or just used to paint in small details too hassle to be masked. Which is a wrong mentality as both are different tools with different purposes. Being able to utilize the handbrushes for textured brush strokes is something people should know a lot more.
You've done a great job of making a solid warhammer tutorial. I've looked at some of your gunpla videos and I'd love to see you do a version of that for a warhammer miniature.
I don't think I need to say the minis are good as that's a given. However, what I was really surprised by was your sub count. The video editing, sound quality, VO, and just about everything to do with video making was really good. I thought for sure you would have a channel with at least 20k subs. Just saying this to mean that you're good at it
Awesome job! I just recently finished the Tyranid starter set (with the four minis and paint pots) and so far it's taught me that I don't have the patience for brush painting yet lol, but I plan to try again with some Imperial Guard soon.
5:55 if you take these guys into an army you’re probably looking at having to paint 20 or maybe even 40 of the guys. If they all look as great as your test model you’d have someone with a great looking army.
Same journey here, starting with Necrons, coincidently. Now 3 years into the hobby and Im really enjoying it. From experience it becomes a rabbit hole to the point of neglecting gunpla for almost a year now. Im not ashamed of that as theres always going to be a backlog, deemed a pile of shame in the mini hobby haha. On the bright side it forced me to be a lot pickier with my gunpla purchases, rarely buying HG or lower grade kits anymore. I have largely stuck with RG as they've been knocking it out of the park consistently and not buying MG kits gives me far more shelf space and saves me money to put towards Warhammer. It got to the point I was selling MG kits that had RG kits, despite the earlier ones having the pre-built inner frame
Glad you're enjoying the hobby! Depending on what you enjoy about painting, you can do a ton of stuff and experiment. You've created way above "Tabletop standard". One of the things you learn though once you have painted 50+ mini's, is that certain steps don't change the outcome, and your recipe you used (which is a great idea) gets trimmer down and you get more time to do other things. You're clearly into the acrylic painting style, but experiment with slapchop and contrast paints and you get to see a different side of painting. Even Artis Opus who is an amazing dry brusher will teach you so much. Have fun!
Necrons were my first miniature love as a kid. Do yourself a favor and look through the lore in their 3rd ed codex. It was wonderfully creepy. Great painting, bro. Glad to have you.
I'd like to add that the C'Tan were basically gods to the Necrons, and the Necrons eventually rose up and killed/defeated their own gods and seized back control for themselves. Not a lot of factions can say they killed their own gods!
Very cool Crons bro, I would love to see you paint the Kastelan Robots & Datasmith box combo; I seen the crazy stuff some japanese players do with Mechanicus models and I think it would fit you well in your artstyle I seen from your previous videos. Cool channel, you got my sub.
Welcome to the hoby, and don't undersell yourself. That paintjob is great and way higher than the tabletop standard. Also as a fun coincidence, your channel name is just a few letters away from an actual Necron model, the Plasmancer
I don't see that anyone else has said it, but I didn't look that hard, and I'm just going to say it anyway: Coming from Gunpla to 40K, I was _sure_ you were going to pick T'au. Nevertheless, enjoy your zombie Egypt robots! Your ten Warriors look great!
