  • It’s finally time to start transforming this dining room!
The first project we need to tackle is painting the room and I’m currently obsessed with the look of Limewash paint. I’ve done it once before and it turned out amazing… but things didn’t go quite as smoothly this time around…

When I replaced my small bathroom drywall with purple drywall, I had to put 4 coats of the most expensive KILZ primer over it. I painted the room a bluish gray which would’ve been compatible but I was so puritan about the whole thing. It’s just best to have that perfect white surface to start with than to be disappointed later. Thanks for your videos. They get my juices going when I don’t feel like doing anything. You don’t even bitch and moan the whole time like I do. Or at least not while the camera is on. 😄

Oh believe me- there’s plenty of footage that ends up on the cutting room floor of me getting frustrated. We try to keep it family-friendly here… 🤣🤣

Wow…I wasn’t feeling it with the first applications but I am loving the finished wall. It’s soft and delicate, earthy and organic

A peel and stick wallpaper that has a pattern that brings in the green, gold, white and brown in both the kitchen and living area would also be cool

So worth the pain and patience! Three coats in I was like ok ok I’m not liking this…but man was it ever worth the wait. Thank you for not cutting the struggles. That is why we do it ourselves no one else has the same vision in their head. And the clip of you repeating “trust the process” “trust the process” priceless! TFS

What an excellent example of what true and honest processes are supposed to be like. You get to the point of Mistake or Dissatisfaction/Disappointment and then you feel your way into the Correction. What an amazing result! ☀️

Your stick-to-it-ness has made all the difference in your dining area! The look is very open and classy, bringing all the adjoining areas together, culminating in their being MORE than the sum of their parts. And THAT’S the best result.

I applaud your persistence! The color definitely makes the space feel larger. I'm assuming you have an idea for the A/C cabinet but wanted to share something I recently saw in a FB post. Someone took a tall vintage secretary, removed the glass and back, added caning on the doors. The upper portion with doors concealed the A/C unit and the lower portion was used for bar accessories and storage. Obviously this would require sourcing a piece with dimensions that would fit your space but I thought of you when I saw the image.

I love your channel so much!! Everything about it! You're fun to watch, you're perfectly groomed, you're charming, you're relatable and I love how well you explain what you're doing. You're dining room looks great, you're patience really paid off. How did you learn to do all this? You're a master carpenter, a professional painter, an amazing seamstress (seam-sir? seamster?), a chef/baker, an interior designer and you have impeccably good taste! Whew. Oh, I forgot one, a talented videographer. I love your channel! 😊

Went through this when sponging was the "thing". Woke up & cried because it looked like excrement on my wall
Finally lightened the color & added BARELY noticeable hints of gold & viola, THANK GOODNESS the 4 days of layering worked out
LOVE your results! Will be using some of your ideas as I'll be moving soon & now know how to use peel and stick and keep my security deposit 😅

I really like the length of your videos, how much you speak, and all the camera angles you use along with the usage of music while you speak. Continue to do you. Some people have shortening attention spans, because of rampant short form content nowadays, and it shows. I have ADHD and I can focus without issue throughout your entire video. On another note, your choice to use both was clever and took me by surprise. The first coat of el matador made the glass fixtures look like they were floating, as I feared. You made a great point about undertones, so mixing solved both of your issues; it turned out great! I'm looking forward to the rest of it. :)

I really appreciate this post! Thank you. I’m pretty good about taking criticism on the chin, so it doesn’t bother me a lot- I just don’t want my videos to be tutorials. (There are plenty of those already on YT and I’m not a professional who should be teaching people haha) The point of the channel is to follow my journey through design and unfortunately that’s going to include me talking about it. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I really enjoy hearing from all of you in the community and seeing your thoughts and personalities- so I try to share to share a bit of me with each video as well. That’s the goal at least. I’m constantly learning and growing.
Again, that’s really kind of you. Thank you! ❤️

As I’m watching and looking, your gray tone shadow you were casting was creating a really pretty organic almost marbleized look on the wall similar to the marble color ya chose ❤for your countertops. I totally would have mixed grey in there that has more of a green undertone. Also, i have used old sweat socks on my hand and moved the lime in soft circular motions fading your edges out. It creates super soft muted highs and lows. I miss the suede paint that Sherwin Williams used to sell that used cross hatching technique that created a soft buttery suede wall. Oh, how i wish they’d bring it back ☹️.

Congrats on an outcome that you love. The wall goes with the gold tones of your fixtures and hardware. Did you consider painting the wall section of wall under the AC cabinet? The white square under the dark cabinet seems out of context to me, particularly since you did the kitchen wall in the warmer color.

  • @rockshot100
    @rockshot100 2 месяца назад

I am an architect trying to learn interiors, they are two very different things, although our basic thought processes are exactly the same and we speak the same lingo. They say that too many trends are extremely out of context. Example being: Living in a NYC loft and design farmhouse, with barn doors, chicken wire cabinet fronts, these Belfast sinks were never in the states, etc. They hey have a strong and valid point. That is a big conflict. It looks stupid and is so overdone, so they will be dated fads fast.
I am guessing that you live in a suburban condo complex. A tuscan kitchen would be horrendous.
This is subtle and you did not do your entire place with lime wash, it is limited to that area. From what little I can see you are mitigating the the cookie cutter look of every other unit and giving some personality to this place. Technically out of place but not a blatant mistake, like venetian plaster would be. Let's forget about limewash with popcorn ceilings.
I like it, it works to add depth to that wall as much as the mirror does.. This will age well, in ten years it will not look like vertical slates on sliding glass doors, or an misplaced and jewel tone accent walls.
