      Hi, I had my surgery 5th dec 23… I could see a ring around street lights, headlights etc but it isn’t as noticeable now 3 months in. The great vision far outweighs a slight ring at nighttime. It isn’t dangerous to drive at night, all i can say is buy some yellow tinted glasses for night driving as these do decrease the rings.. I haven’t noticed any glare. Go for it!

    YEP- mine was 4 years old and turned gray/black and actually looked like a ROCK-- took a much bigger cut to make room to get it out as it would NOT break up... Doc said on scale of 1-10 mine was at LEAST a 15! I had mine done 3 weeks ago- and it's JUST NOW starting to clear up. I have a panoptix in my "good" eye.. and it's getting clearer and sharper every day.. can't wait til it's totally healed!! I don't wear glasses NOW-- and most likely won't. My LEFT eye, however is still being worked on. After the cataract "rock" was removed and a special lens implanted that is a bit different (doc never told me HOW it's different). they could finally see through it to check the RETINAL DETACHMENT and TEAR!!! I've also had a laser iridotomy to make a HOLE in my iris so the fluids will exchange properly and I don't get glaucoma. THE reattachment/repair surgery is on DEC 7th.. don't know how that's going to turn out-- BUT- I'll be getting silicon OIL in my eye instead of gas bubble due to the severity of it- and the fact I can NOT hold a steady position for any extended period of time without EXTREME pain due to arthritis and more. Should be INTERESTING..

      I don’t know why RUclips won’t let me respond directly to your question, but yes, I had my surgery done and it was a huge success. No side effects, you do you want to rest your eyes at least 48 hours postop. And if you develop a little film over your eye, they can easily remove that with laser. Other than that, I highly recommend.

    If you are considering lens replacement, you should understand the consequences of dysphotopsia before going ahead. The surgery is both invasive and non reverseable. the impact of dysphotopsia is devastating to the quality of life and there are no clear treatment for neither positive or negative disphotopsia. The statistics reported are inconsistent across multiple source. Take care of your eyes.

    If it is only a 10 to 15 minute procedure why is it so expensive?
    NHS say the surgery cost £750 to £1000 per eye and yet private companies charge a minimum of £2000 per eye for the basic single-vision lens fitment. Why is there such a huge difference?

    • @rupaloop671
      @rupaloop671 Год назад +2

      @@telstar4772 no, both lenses have moved off axis. The right 8 degrees and the left 34 degrees. I had to have another operation on the left eye as it was so far out. But with the right they have said the risks outweigh the benefits so they will try to correct it with laser eye surgery later on. The left lens has also since moved again so will also need further treatment again.
      My vision is still worse than before and because the lenses are off axis the side-effects like halos and starburst/glare are to the extreme. I’m told there’s nothing they can do now for another three months whilst the eyes recover from surgery. I’m going back in 10 days to have a check up and talk about the next stages and what they can do. But in the meantime I am going to have ware glasses again! I also still can’t drive to work for 2 months now as day light hours here are so short at the moment and side-effects are obviously worse in the dark with the lights. I am told what has happened is rare.
      I have been regretting it ever since.

      Hello, I was -13 right eye, -14 left eye and at the time, 14 years ago, measurements showed that my eyes did not
      have enough space needed for lens implants. I got lasix, with some regression, which stabilized at -5 which took a few years. I did buy glasses to compensate. I could not be happier! It is truly a miracle. I am no longer tired by just trying with large prescription glasses to focus, colours and depth perception are much better. Now, at -5, I do have the option of lens implants. No rush though - as I can read without my nose in the way (!), manage at home, and with conversation distance - a wee bit fuzzy - but more than good enough. I like that if I am dealing with frowny faces, I can take off the glasses and not pick up so much on negative vibes. I don’t mind wearing glasses for driving, concerts, or watching tv. All the best with your next step. Oh - and the glare and halos people mention did not hit my radar. With high prescriptions, it is the baseline, normal. I like the colourful red and green snowflakes at traffic lights - and that was, is, my normal.
      With excellent depth perception, I am comfortable driving at night. Truly a gift that we have these wonderful options. All the best for your next steps!

    • @karenlewkowitz5858
      @karenlewkowitz5858 3 года назад +1

      To add - it may be worthwhile to mention that there is some adjustment post surgery - as the brain adapts to all the new focused information coming in! 20/20 is normal for a while post surgery, then there is regression.
