I’m guessing the computer showed him a chart for comparison. Which would also be how he knew there even was a midichlorian chart for Anakin to be off of.
I've never minded Midichlorians. People say it destroys the mysticism of the force, and I agree, but honestly I like that. The one complaint I don't agree with is that they're a DBZ-style Power Level, where having the highest number automatically makes you the strongest; the "midichlorian count" thing isn't an active power level, it's a measure of natural potential. I've been doing martial arts for a few decades now, and taught my own classes for about 6 years in there. I think any martial artist would tell you that some people just "have it". They take to things immediately, like they were born for it. And any martial artist would tell you that if you don't have the drive to make good on that potential, it means nothing. I've seen the most gifted students just stay "good", while other students who train through a struggle---even if it takes them longer to master something---pass them by and become amazing. When I hear the midichlorian thing, I just go back to that. Potential doesn't make you great. Wanting to be great, and being truly willing to make that happen, makes you great.
Just to clarify how they actually function: the force is and always was a spiritual thing. Midichlorians have been a thing since the first star wars movie as there are notes from George talking about the specifics of the force and he brings up midichlorians. The force is a spiritual thing that exists in and around everything. Midichlorians are microscopic organisms that allow beings to be able to use the force. Everyone has midichlorians but only beings with a high enough count are able to fully use the force. With some beings with lesser count either not be able to harness it or only use it for small things such as Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue one who can’t manipulate it to pull or push things but uses it to help him be able to see or feel things around him like a spidey sense. And even if you do have a high count of midichlorians that doesnt mean you instantly are stronger. Just like everything else you have to train to master your abilities. And simply having the force isnt the end all be all. As shown in the prequel films and clone wars, Anakin has the highest midichlorian count but still has been beaten in duels against other skilled and trained force user or duelist. Dooku being one of them as he was one of the best saber duelists ever and he beat Anakin a good amount of times before Anakin trained hard enough to surpass Dooku in both skill and strength. Another one for Anakin. Obiwan. Obiwan as even said here has a much lower count than Anakin but when they fought each other Obiwan was the victor since Anakin let his emotions cloud him and Obiwan, even though it broke his heart to fight his brother, was better trained in controlling himself that he was able to win
I think my issue is it brings big of eugenics into the universe. I would prefer if some people were force sensitive just because the force wanted them to be, or maybe the more spiritual you become your body could attract more
I was always under the assumption that the stronger connection you had with the force, a greater amount of midichlorians would see you as a better host.
I like the subtle mushroom like controlling factor that they have 'informing them on the will of the force' really sinister, they could be setting up to be cosmic fertilizer.
The fact that George Lucas actually thought this up, and thought it was a better idea than a spiritual force you tap into through practice..... leads me to believe Star Wars was an accident.
It was. The first film has tons of concepts he never fleshed out because he wasn't planning to. He didn't think it would be a huge hit and he had a ton of people on set that would tell him if his ideas were getting too crazy or if something wouldn't work. Those people didn't exist for the prequels. By that point, everyone just considered him "untouchable" when it came to matters of Star Wars. And, well, you know the rest.
I thought i saw somewhere that there were some notes he wrote down when he first made star wars where he talked about mediclorians meaning he always thought of them. And i dont know why people cant wrap there head (edit: someone pointed out i said that wrong. I meant “Their Heads”. Thanks) around it. To me the way it always worked was that the force is a spiritual force that resides within every single thing but only beings with a high enough m count are able to tap into it as the mediclorians are microorganisms able to tap into the spiritual force. I like the idea as it makes it that not everyone can simply use the force. While the force is in everyone, it isnt something just anyone can manipulate. I guess disney forgot about that cause now just about anyone can use the force. I am not a fan of them giving Sabine force abilities when we spent a whole ark in Rebels where she learns how to use her mandalorian gear to help combat against force wielders cause she can’t use the force

Qui Gon literally says it "without midichlorians, we would have no knowledge of the force", instead of "without midichlorians, we would have no force", which clearly shows that midichlorians and the force are two related but separate things.
To go even further than that, look at the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise that says they are different in no uncertain terms. "Darth Plagueis was a dark lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise that he could USE THE FORCE TO INFLUENCE THE MIDICHLORIANS..." They are different things with different properties but are connected.
I assume this has been discussed before and is usually blamed on the Force User, but when they say listen to the force, follow its guidance, trust in the force...only to be gunned down or blown up 5 minutes later...is that the Force being a dick or not?
the force has a grand plan, the jedi who listen to the force act as nodes to do the force's will. sometimes that will is to get blown up because the force doesn't need you anymore. the Sith reject the will of the force and use their own willpower to exert their own influence on it. This leads to the 2 different "religious" philosophies of the force. the jedi strive to become one with the force, and bring balance and calm to its will. the Sith seek to become the singular point of focus of the force and do so by force of will. Using the "dark side" of the force causes the force's will to become distorted and harder for the jedi to commune with, generations of Sith focused the dark side on to cloud the jedi's judgement and abilities. by the time of the phantom menace, the galactic center was so distorted that the jedi could only barely make out the will of the force, and were forced to make judgements based on their own morals and teachings. during this period the jedi became more dogmatic, relying on the code more for guidance and become more political as to deal with issues they would normally have help from the force to solve.
@@edwxx20001 So when the they were able to listen to the force directly without the Clout and got killed...it was still the force being a dick :P But appreciate the explanation in regards to the Sith clouding the force from the Jedi before the fall of the republic.

I find it funny people thought this removed the mystery of the force even though they just explained how people were connected to the force and actually explains pretty much very little.
My headcanon is that midichlorian's aren't _required_ to use the force, they're just attracted to people who have the strongest and deepest connection with the force. The Jedi are so far up their own asses at this point, that they think someone's ability with the force and their midichlorian-count is bi-causal, when in reality midichlorians are just kinda like remora fish.
Yeah, especially with things like the Father, Son, and Daughter, or the Whils, or the Nightsisters, it definitely seems the Force is magic and the midichlorians are just a convenient way to measure it.
@@jasperzanovich2504 It is just headcanon, I'm afraid. In fact, by losing a limb, you actively lose some power in the Force, according to George Lucas. Despite this, Vader is still incredibly powerful, though. Perhaps a match for his former Jedi self.

Actually, selling someone from the crew to buy the spaceship parts is a better plan than betting everything on a child winning a race he didn't even finished before.
I'm probably one of three or four people who kind of likes the concept of midichlorians. When I was younger I wondered if there was a logical reason why some people can use the Force and others can't, and it made sense to be able to test Force sensitivity via blood samples.
It's funny to me that the opportunity for a "Your basically trained already." parry attempt didn't show up. "So what your saying I can stand on my own?" "Obi-wan, if you apply yourself I'm sure you can do things I can't." "Now I know your just placating me."
My main issue with them is it brings a bit of eugenics to Star Wars. I think it should just be “the force wanted this guy to be able to use it” instead of having better blood
and this is why in the expanded universe novels the jedi had a special building you got paired with other jedi depending on your count to make stronger jedi like race horse breeding

@@edwxx20001 So when the they were able to listen to the force directly without the Clout and got killed...it was still the force being a dick :P
But appreciate the explanation in regards to the Sith clouding the force from the Jedi before the fall of the republic.
@@edwxx20001 Especially with that dick, Palpatine, setting two sides of the galaxy against each other and having an all-you-can-eat buffet of galaxy-sized Dark Side energy to become the ultimate Big Bad Sith Lord, while practically going na-na-na-na-na!-you-can't-find-me-and-I'm-right-in-front-of-you-being-all-evil-as-a-politician-to-hide-being-an-Evil-Sith-Lord-which-is-pretty-much-one-and-the-same-thing, really rubbing it in the Jedi Council's face with his clearly Sithy decorated office with each Jedi Council meeting there.
Death is not a problem for the Jedi. You should have sussed that from 'A New Hope', and it's pretty much the entire theme of the OT.
Great collaboration. I’m a big fan of both of you guys.
Qui gon didn't place a bet or eat a snack? This has to be a deep fake.
- What's your Midichlorian count?
- Idunno. Pretty big.
I love this guys impressions of the actors 😂😂
Both of ya do amazing work, and do even better work as a team!
Remember Obi-Wan, magic is just science you don't understand yet.
“twenty-thousand is a lot..”
"It's heroin."
If this is what sobriety is like, Im gonna smoke a big fat sack of crack!
I too am a fan of Auralnauts :D
Jedi party!
I was looking for this comment, and you have delivered. When the Singularity comes, you will be one of the last up against the wall.
Yeeeeeeeesssss
Was about to trade him in like a used car
This is precious! xD
Because it's gold. 😎
I find it funny people thought this removed the mystery of the force even though they just explained how people were connected to the force and actually explains pretty much very little.
This collab was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
My headcanon is that midichlorian's aren't _required_ to use the force, they're just attracted to people who have the strongest and deepest connection with the force. The Jedi are so far up their own asses at this point, that they think someone's ability with the force and their midichlorian-count is bi-causal, when in reality midichlorians are just kinda like remora fish.
Yeah, especially with things like the Father, Son, and Daughter, or the Whils, or the Nightsisters, it definitely seems the Force is magic and the midichlorians are just a convenient way to measure it.
I thought this was what they meant. Is that really just our headcanon?
@@jasperzanovich2504 It is just headcanon, I'm afraid. In fact, by losing a limb, you actively lose some power in the Force, according to George Lucas.
Despite this, Vader is still incredibly powerful, though. Perhaps a match for his former Jedi self.
Your headcanon is ghey and Sequel Trilogyist. Just take the prequels as they are, because they are before OT and spells it out. Not that hard to understand unless OT elitist.

Quigon did have a particular set of skills.
Obi wan: doesnt know what midichlorians are
Also Obi Wan: Even Master Yoda doesnt have that much!
Surely there has been a Star Wars story already where someone takes other people's 'chlorians for themself to become maximally force potent?
By using the force to manipulate the medichlorians
He effectively used the medichlorians to manipulate the medichlorians
I wish qui-gon had a bag of chips, and maybe a discussion on fatal abdominal wounds
Actually, selling someone from the crew to buy the spaceship parts is a better plan than betting everything on a child winning a race he didn't even finished before.
Wholesome video as always lol. I love decanted Obi-Wan was haha!
This is why the old extended universe did the Jedi better.
Genuinely, fan fiction had better world building.
"So what your saying I can stand on my own?"
"Obi-wan, if you apply yourself I'm sure you can do things I can't."
"Now I know your just placating me."
My main issue with them is it brings a bit of eugenics to Star Wars. I think it should just be “the force wanted this guy to be able to use it” instead of having better blood
Its simple: science is new religion
Cell farmers: "Unlimited power!"
20,000 is a lot perfect ending
And then Obi Wan tests his own blood and finds out he barely passes the M test 😅
Awesome collaboration of two awesome channels
I get so happy when I hear Charlie's Qui Gon
And that's why Qui-Gon was silenced by Death Maul. He believed in science.
WE NEED MORE MATTHEW CHARLIE COLLABS!
I knew that was Charlie doing Qui's voice!
"Master sir, I've heard Master Yoda talk about midichlorians. What are midichlorians?"
"It's heroin."
OBI WAN: Say Qui Gon, what does the blood test say about his midichlorian count?
QUI GON: It's over 20,000!
Great crossover!
Omg can't believe you got not obi wan Mr Charlie in this 😂
It's a shame Lucas didn't got with "over 9000".
and this is why in the expanded universe novels the jedi had a special building you got paired with other jedi depending on your count to make stronger jedi like race horse breeding
