Tailz It’s funny how the FDLC is so incompetent, yet their real life counterpart, the FDNY, is renowned for being one of the most aggressive fire departments in the world.
The response times for LSFD firefighters is relatively realistic (at least in respect of the game), due to how much of the map is considered 'rural' or 'wilderness'. With IV and real life in NYC, there are basically fire houses on every corner, so it makes sense that their response times are short. I'm honestly annoyed with R* that the AI for emergency personnel is awful. Even more that even though there's a heavy focus on realism, there's only one type of ambulance and firetruck for both IV and V, but yet multiple different police vehicles and agencies per game. I understand that the player doesn't deal with EMTs and FFs that often, but there's more to fire and paramedic services than just one type of ambulance and a fire engine. And more importantly, LSFD firefighters wouldn't normally respond into Paleto Bay and vice versa. There should be actual 'SAFD' or 'BCFD' units. Of course, this can be done with mods, but I'd love to see more vanilla vehicles in the base game without mods. I'm still hoping that an update to GTA Online will bring additional emergency vehicles like a ladder truck, chief's vehicle, mass causality unit, brush truck, etc... but I won't hold my breath..

I just feel there's a lot of missed potential despite that. I'll admit, I do miss the paramedic/vigilante/firefighter side missions... While they were pretty elementary back in the 3D era (III, VC, SA...) they could've been greatly expanded upon with the next-gen Rage engine games.

That’s how it’s really done by the FDNY in NYC. There isn’t always much room for drivers to pull over, so a lot of times responding apparatus will drive up the middle of the street. Of course it’s not *only* done in NYC, but you get the idea.
you did notice they are carrying breathable air on their backs, right? (this is not a filter gas mask) so the masks are just acting as a barrier to the surrounding air... and since the gas is just tear gas (and nothing corrosive, that will make holes in the system) there is no reason for the tear gas to get to their lungs (well, unless they are stupid and didn't put the mask on correctly #GTA-AI)
I always found it funny that GTA V firefighters arrived at the scene with fire extinguishers. For the next GTA they should have a hose that comes away from the firetruck like in real life. That would be pretty sweet.
I've noticed on multiple occasions in director mode if you punch the LCFD they'll start strafing around like an enemy using their fire extinguishers as guns, obviously doing no damage but spraying the extinguisher in my general direction with zero dialogue. No joke, let me know if I'm the only person who experiences this
3 years late but yeah you’re not the only one. Happens to me a lot when I decide to pick a fight with them while they are taking out a fire. We can always just pretend they’re trying to use the extinguisher to irritate your skin to keep you away (even though it does nothing in game).
Lots of military men and women join fdny/fire dept in general after they leave the military. Also FDNY is very patriotic when it comes to the troops. Thats probably why the navy flag is in the fdlc station.
You forgot the fact that if your car is really dirty with mud and dirt or blood you can use the fire trucks water canon on your car and boom it's clean

As a firefighter I wish that in GTA VI there will be random events involving the FD like structure fires and car accidents with entrapment requiring rescue. To roll up a random street and see firefighters establish hose connections, force entry and fight fire with more than an extinguisher would be mind blowing to me, but I’m gonna keep my expectations low. I also wish there were more than one type of truck. There are so many types of fire trucks and so many sub-categories, like engines, tankers, ladders, rescues, command vehicles... I know GTA is stealy wheelie automobiley but they already made that big of an improvement where firefighters actually put out fire from one game to the next, why not step it up a notch?

I've heard that the gta v firefighters are actually immune to fire, but if you set them on fire while they are still on the truck they still catch fire, as they only get the immunity when they get off the truck.

Apart from the fact that in V they immediately know your location, while in IV your character tells them. I always thought that was weird.
There are a ton if other things. They make 5 overall better.

@A real petrol-head well i'm not sure how it works in real life since i never called 911 in my life before. Im assuming thats how it works since technology has evolved a *lot* in the past years so i wouldn't be surprized if thats how it worked
I've heard that the gta v firefighters are actually immune to fire, but if you set them on fire while they are still on the truck they still catch fire, as they only get the immunity when they get off the truck.
Just love how brave and dutiful those firefighters from the LSFD, which is making up for how bad the medical emergency ambulance and the LSPD behave in GTA V :))

Damn it, cannot Rockstar make one GTA where every single emergency service works normally?
My imagination of emergency services in GTA 6 be like:
- Cops that firstly try to arrest you or any NPC and shoot when criminal is armed or resists arresting for too long
- Paramedics that are able to relive and heal any human with injuries which are in reality able to be healed
- Firemen that are able to answer to a fire and extinguish it with water cannon, fire extinguishers or hose connected to hydrant; they are also able to save people when a car accident would happen; their masks just work
