Just a few corrections in regards to the map: Middle Park was most definitely modeled by that point in the beta map, it was likely not added in because it is such a minor detail, even the pond up in Bohan isn't in that map either, because it was just unneccessary to put it on the map, that map was just to show what the games map looked like at that point in development, the only thing we dont have much evidence for however is the Airport runways, we don't exactly know if that was ever modeled at all, I'm willing to bet it wasn't but things could certainly change if we had more information about it. What I am surprised about is how the map section took up 1 minute meanwhile the voicelines took up 10, there is actually quite a lot of interesting things to say about the map besides the beta map, Middle Park and the Airport. Like how in Northeast Bohan there is a half diamond shaped road that isn't in the final version, in the retail it's just an empty parking lot but because of the more than usual traffic volume exiting the parking lot with no cars ever being parked, the removal of the road was probably late in development, if you watch some of the shows in the game, you can see that southern Bohan looked vastly different with missing buildings and even different ones, and LoD's provide some detail into changed buildings, such as the abandoned Burger Shot at Dukes having a different exterior design for the logo, and multiple building LoD's showing that they could've been restaurants but were cut, theres a lot I can go on about but yeah.
@Jacorywoohoo The map section was shorter because like you said yourself, I could've went on and on about the little details changed from map to map but I don't find the little things all that interesting. A road added, changed or removed here and there doesn't interest me all that much personally. My guess is that texture at 1:05 was used to test normal mapped decals or possibly sprites, my money would be on decals though. It really looks like those are two different texture maps for the same asset and making a simple but high depth normal map would make it easier to tell if it's rendering properly, and the alpha mask wouldn't really make sense for a map texture or something for a model. I could be wrong though.

13:49 “ Thanks for pinging me - LOL.”
Really good video, man.
25:25 i discovered this glitch on my own in my ps3 like 10 years ago and i remember telling everyone but they didnt believe me at all, glad to see i wasnt the only one. I was just playing making weird movies in my head until i landed there 😂
Good video keep grinding bro
23:41 Oh, these modelling errors are plentiful throughout GTA 4. I have found many oversized doors, a hole in the ground in Alderney, all sorts of screwed textures. Real messy stuff all around that you never notice.
i hate to be this guy, but 0:48 that isn't a glock, that seems to suggest that the glock was originally going to be a Beretta M9 or Taurus PT92 (as seen in GTA 5)
nice video man
Seeing the original map ideas was so cool, how did you even find that
The ping is funny and the gaming thing was fire
Wonder if the cut gaming activity would involve playing a game called race'n'chase
The fast food lines sound like ryan drummond and josh tomar
My guess is that texture at 1:05 was used to test normal mapped decals or possibly sprites, my money would be on decals though. It really looks like those are two different texture maps for the same asset and making a simple but high depth normal map would make it easier to tell if it's rendering properly, and the alpha mask wouldn't really make sense for a map texture or something for a model. I could be wrong though.
That truck is prob a mail truck, real life mail trucks here in the States have very low front ends so that the driver can see objects closer to the vehicle
Ping! is a horrible idea for a fast food restaurant. Very fitting for GTA as a result
Also, I also made that mistake on First Date the first time I it, going into the mini golf course and being totally dumbfounded
i swear, even niko's VA is laughing
