This is a great video! Thanks for sharing your experience. 100% on future proof! This helps me in my journey transitioning from Ikea Detolf to custom. Size (and lighting) is very important to me. My custom design was inspired by Moduspace. Side note: Detolf vs Moduspace factor for consideration is delivery time. 😉
Thanks for watching and providing your thoughts. That’s actually a great point. I should’ve considered the wait times! I’ll redact my end score to 4-3 moducase, detolfs being readily available is a huge deal
I’ve never met anyone that regretted buying moducases. They are expensive but they really aren’t a ton more than detolf after you mod them. Moducases are so worth it! Nice video sir.
I agree. Modding detolfs was always a nuisance to me so being able to build it and be done was very satisfying. Thanks for watching bro you’re deffo the moducase king when it comes to videos 🤝
Apologies I am late to this video!! Really excellent information here Riley thanks for putting this one out! As a massive detolf fan (I currently have 12!) I find myself 100% agreeing with everything you say in this video 😅 although I’ve not made the switch to moducases yet! This is purely down to cost tbh. In the UK a few years ago detolfs were about £45 / $55 which was when I started to get them (although they have since risen to £75 / $95) I’ve also been able to pick them up for free too on Facebook marketplace (it seems once people want to get rid of detolfs they want them gone FAST 😅). So for now I’m sticking with them but you’re right about the USB wires and vehicles and larger figures! So decisions will need to be made at some point! Thanks again for the video mate 🤘🏻
No worries TK! Appreciate you giving your thoughts. Yeah detolfs there are some slight cons but I feel they’re perfect for a budget. As space was becoming a huge concern I had to make a leap into moducases! I wish detolfs were as cheap as they were in the US! People will definitely dump them on the groups as I notice. I’m Excited to see how your collection grows my friend, and appreciate you watching! 😎
Great video Riley! I had been thinking about getting some Moducases so this is very helpful. Also... could you use an aquarium as a make shift display case? The kind with a lid for lizards and snakes that may help dust out, but would have glass walls.
I think I’ve actually seen someone try aquarium cases, I think the best option custom would be Costa cases from pop culture living room. He has a great cost effective method to making great cases. Thanks for watching and the kind words 🤘
Moducases, garage shelves - best for large collecitons or displays. 2. Detolf, best for single figure / collection displays. I.e. One figure on the shelf, situated in its only enclosed world display, scene, diorama, nice pose etc. For me, I am going down the carpenter route and having it personalised. Moducases are expensive for what they're, and garage shelves moded correctly can be far better. But some of my favourite displays for the figures (figure, post, nice diorama, accessories and lighting) have come via detolf. Morale of the story, you don't need silly expensive display cases or large collections, to have some of the best collection displays. One detolf, done proper as above with four figures (one each shelf) can easily surpass a moducases with hundreds of figures just standing together with zero purpose (out of place) To new collectors...... Just think smart and never a need to go crazy or push for large collecitons. Less is more.
Amazing advise, and I agree, price isn’t everything and even for the price moducase has some slight cons. Overall as you mention do whatever works best for you! Thanks for watching
5 years ago detolfs were $60. Smh, all depends what you collect, i kinda got out of Hot Toys and really just collect helmets now. Detolfs are great for that can fit 4 going down, and it looks nice. I built a display out of garage shelfs and yea you can fit 4 across but its tight, 3 looks better
I could never get any Detolfs at my local IKEA (they were always sold out!), and never put my collectibles in anything but my Moducases. Many collectors love and use Detolfs to their highest potential, and I can understand the cost aspect. One of the aspects I had never considered about Moducase before I got them, is how they can be disassembled the same way they were assembled, and makes moving them MUCH easier than glass cabinets! If you can get a Moducase display, DO IT. If you can only afford Detolfs, that's better than nothing at all...which is what I had before my Moducases!
Moduspace are better because you can hold as many figures as you want and you can pose them in many different ways not to mention they are very good to put vehicles in
I was very intrigued in this video because I have never heard of Moducase, I have 3 Ikea Detolfs and 4 Ikea Bestas with led I installed. Umm...as soon as I saw the price for the Moducase, I had to laugh. Nah, I'm good on my Detolfs. Thanks for the great research and video!
Hey frank! Appreciate you bro, I actually found a little dresser on offer up, I just go online and find dressers with the correct proportions to hold a detolf. I had trouble finding actual ikea version risers unfortunately!
What about weight of the collectibles? I have 2-4 Sideshow statues that are heavier than any toy or normal statue. Are Detolf's able to handle the weight?
Great vid. Highly recommend an air purifier to lessen the dust and pet hair that circulates in the room. This will help a lot with the moducase maintenance
Do air purifiers remove dust and actual pet hair? I thought they just removed pollen and germs and stuff! I mean it would be amazing if they remove pet hair, and dust is the bane of my collecting life at the moment!! Thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@TK421Collectibles I’ve heard the same thing, I feel it is mostly air quality of that nature but I think I’m gonna test it out. They are pretty expensive though but it’s worth the shot lol
@@TK421Collectibles Disclaimer I don't have any pets but based on the 1st filter layer (mesh layer, it's got multiple different layers including HEPA) of my winix 5500-2 air purifier, it traps the dust that circulates in the air as well as hair fibers/follicles. I can tell since my wife will come into my office/collection room and sometimes she'll bring with her a hair or something that's caught on her sweater, etc. and she'll leave it behind. When I go to clean it out once per week there's some hair caught in the filter along with the dust so I would imagine the air purifier may help with the pet hair (not sure to what extent especially if the pet sheds a lot). Either way it does help a lot I find having one near the collection. Hope that helps.
The only issue that I have with Moducases is that they don't showcase a figure like a Detolf does. You get that one figure on the one shelf and it's the star of the show. Yeah, you can space them apart with the Moducases...but then you're only putting so many figures into the case and kinda defeating the purpose of having all that space. But man, Arena Suit Boba looks so sick by himself on a Detolf shelf. That just can't be replicated with a Moducase. But...ya start getting vehicles and pretty much anything from JazzInc and well... I do intend to have a few figures just kinda standing on their own and secluded from others, but also I wanna do scenes like you mentioned. That's gonna be a classy way to get around the whole "line-em-up" aspect of a large display. I love Justin's setup...the sheer volume of his collection is impressive on its own. But I don't wanna have my figures just standing in rows looking at me like they're in line for the next iPhone...I want them to be engaged with each other and doing stuff. I have so many ideas...this shit is taking me back to my childhood when I had all the McFarlane toys displayed in a giant battle royale with the Spawn Alley playset. This is gonna be so sick.
Beautiful ideas! Can’t wait to see them my guy. Building those scenes are so awesome and love how you can expand that with moducase. Great thoughts as always appreciate you watching 🤘
Moducase can replicate Detolf but it is not cost effective to do so. Basically requires purchases four small cases for which the pricing will be absurd compared to just buying the largest case.
Detoifs are pretty good but the only singing there is only so many figures you can put and you can't judge what action poses as you would want because space is kind of limited

The days I wish I can go back to 🤣🤣 thanks for watching!

The DF120s with half shelves are where it’s at. Setup is looking dope man!
Thanks so much my guy! DF120’s are legit. Appreciate you 🤘🤝

I will eventually build my own moducases but I am not paying thousand's.
Fantastic job explaining both pros and cons, nice video!
Thank you!
I will eventually build my own moducase but I am not paying thousands for it.
Makes sense, Costa and Keco cases are SO good haha!
Moduspace are better because you can hold as many figures as you want and you can pose them in many different ways not to mention they are very good to put vehicles in

Makes total sense! Moducases are extremely high end when it comes to shelving. Appreciate you watching tho 🤝🤘
Hey Riley, great video!
What risers are you using on the detolfs? I have two detolfs, but I can't seem to find anything that doesn't come from ikea
Hey frank! Appreciate you bro, I actually found a little dresser on offer up, I just go online and find dressers with the correct proportions to hold a detolf. I had trouble finding actual ikea version risers unfortunately!
It’s moducase or custom all day. When you get up to 200+ figures you need a massive display
I think so too. Unless you want 40 detolfs lol, it’s hard to sustain for sure! Thanks for watching
What about weight of the collectibles? I have 2-4 Sideshow statues that are heavier than any toy or normal statue. Are Detolf's able to handle the weight?
@@paulredman8509 since it’s glass. I don’t think you should put statues on the detolf. But there should be weight capacities when you look it up!

Dude thanks for the suggestion! I’m gonna look into this 100%

Give me the fish tanks 😂
Yes and yes! 😂 thanks for watching
I used foam strips to keep most of the dust out of my detolfs.
Another good idea. I heard this works great! Thanks for watching
I keep missing drops cuz Riley Reveals has disappeared 😉 how’s it going man? 😊
Been super busy recently! Riley reveals will be returning with the next releases or announcements 😎 appreciate the love Christian 🤘

What The Batman cowl is that?
That is from AMC theaters, it’s a popcorn bucket 👍
