Been watching your videos for a while and just wanted to say a huge thank you. I struggle with mental health and I am also autistic and ADHD and can have episodes where I really can't deal with my 200-300 houseplants (or anything else for that matter). The last few months I have found that if I watch one of your houseplant videos it really inspires me to do a few plants jobs and before I know it, I'm back into it and loving my plants again, which in turn helps me out of my depressive episode, because that's just what my plants do for me. Anyway, thank you so much, and also for speaking about ADHD as it's all so relatable 😊
Hello Claire! (Is this how you spell your name?) If you add cords and hooks to a plastic bowl, you can hang it from the planter, water in situ, go do something else, come back when all the dripping is done, and move the "drip bowl" to another plant. I have several "disposable" pie plates that I made hangers for with things like old shoelaces, cut up t-shirts, and leftover ribbons. The hooks are paper clips. I hang the contraptions from the edge of the containers on watering day, and because they're stackable and space efficient, when I'm done, they are easy to put away until I need them again.
@@roxymcrae4645 Thank you. I know they sell hanging saucers designed to do the same thing. But since I try to reuse as much plastic and aluminum foil I can, and I have lots of cords/shoelaces/old t-shirts...I figured---Why not?
curtain rails bolted into wall studs!! I'm so glad someone else hangs plants this way and I'm not just mad! I have mine on climbing clips for easy watering/take down
.. I did that too, so you're no more weird than I am 🤗 people said that I was crazy hanging my plants like that.. They still think I'm crazy 😉 then I saw Claire had too, so I'm not the only one with different ideas for plants.. Be happy and proud girl, that you can come up with different ideas for your plants.. If it works for you it's never crazy, if it don't work, then you just tried something new ☺️🤗
I wrapped some of those stiff basic plastic hangers in macrame cord to make them a bit cuter but still keep the ease of using those. Some hanging plants I'm just not willing to put in a full blown macrame hanger because they would be a nightmare to get back out of the macrame, like any string of things.
I find alot of the plant channels i watch and some do want to downsize but they always find it hard to get rid of plants. For example that Draceana looking a bit sad that you have if i had plants that doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing i tend to chop them back. Or just throw them out. Also if one’s always prone to pests i also get rid of them. And just concentrate the ones that you just love and collect. That is what i do now.
Yeah, I also try to get rid of plants that I don't enjoy, that I feel just take up space. There are Facebook groups where i live for giving out plants for free, usually someone comes to pick up the plant within several days after posting.
Trailing plants will forever be my favourites. 💚 I can’t believe how affordable the rail and brackets are! I will need to look for similar items here in Canada.
Love the neon ice got mine on 2 bigger tree braches growing nice a big so lovely somtimes they get a darker gree splash here and there lol one of my favs
It’s always nice to see a newly uploaded video from you. I always enjoy looking at all your beautiful plants and deciding if I need one of them in my collection. 😂 I just recently acquired a global green pothos, I killed my first one 🥺 I am so glad I did! I forgot how beautiful the green on green coloring on the leaves are. 💚🪴
Hi Claire, a red leaf maranthe would look really nice in that spot to replace the Drescina. I have one that’s very long and huge and does not need a lot of light.
Hi Clair! I just love your plant collection, and love watching your videos. Thank you for everything you share with us! A note about Scindapsus pictus... they're a shingling plant, and do better on flat wooden planks rather than a moss poll (more surface area). I bet you could do a really nice DIY plank to hang on the wall, with some way to hold the pot on the bottom of the plank. 🪴🌞🥰
I just bought a plant pulley that you described to be similar to blinds! Mine was also too tall for me to reach but I just added a little bit of twine to extend to within reach! Also put the plant in a macrame that has a bundle of string at the bottom so I can yank on the string at the bottom of the macrame to pull it down and that works well. Fully recommend the pulley!!!! So much easier than getting the stool!!! And much easier to inspect
You should try the retractable hanger plant pulleys it helps with those hanging plants so your not getting up and down. I use them and they are a knee saver lol
@@TheJungleHaven wow, even in the cabinet?? That’s strange? Usually most things do better in cabinets! I’ve actually just recently under watered mine and a few of the older leaves yellowed, so I took some cuttings of the bare stems. Maybe that’s why mine grew so quickly, cutting encouraged new growth?! It could also boil down to conditions, I live in New Orleans Louisiana, where the heat index is 117 and the humidity lives at 100000% 😂😂 Edit: I also believe mine is a pearls and jade, so maybe that has something to do with it!
.. I've had my N'joy for about 2 years and she's not soo much bigger than when I bought her.. I took cuttings last year, and they took forever to root.. I've had her hanging in windows since I got her, and she's not any faster growing.. Even grow light can't get her growing any better.. I love her colours absolutely, but like Claire said, it takes patience.. .. I am certain that your better luck with your N'joy is the location.. Louisiana is a perfect place for many plants 🤗 living across the ocean from Claire, we share the always and constantly changing weather and humidity conditions ☺️
@@aingealtara1479 It was hard for me to tell at first but I’ve realized after this that I believe it’s a pearls and jade so maybe that has something to do with it?
@@jpgypsyxo they do look so much alike it's easy to confuse them from each other.. So don't you worry ☺️ pearls and jade leaves are a wee little bigger than n'joy, and same colours too I believe 😊 it's easy to be in doubt or confused when many plants are sold by a different name or a made up name.. I've got several of those..
I also use those plastic hanging pots with hooks, they are very practical. My silver hero grows in terrarium and climbs on wooden logs but internodal spaces are also long. At least leaves are nice and big. Thank you for the video.
Great video Claire, good advice I can use for my few hanging plants , was wondering if you have a video or could do one about the pro’s and Con’s of different substrate , for example when to use semi hydro over a soil mix…. Thanks we love the channel 👍
It's funny the different experiences people have. I got a golden pothos and enjoy last year and I get a very similar growth rate from them. My njoy is probably my only plant that looks similar to yours 😅
I would love to home your dracaina😊 has been wanting to get one for my collection I want to grow it to tree size I think they're the most beautiful indoor trees
The Chinese Evergreen on your kitchen counter, what kind of light does it receive? It’s gorgeous ! Fits that spot nicely… Can you tell me how long it’s been there and if it has a grow light, natural light, or just plain kitchen light?
Hi, quick question and i hope you have the time to answer, but do you know the average lux level your hanging rail plants get? I want to do something similair but i just worry my lighting isnt good enough due to the size of my windows. Thanks!
I was watering some of my hanging plants this morning and...there are mealy bugs on my string of turtles 😭 it is so thick I don't know if I can get them off. I trimmed it and put some pieces in my prop bucket in case it dies. If you have any ideas to help please help. I did use some systemic but I'm not sure thats enough
Is it safe to reuse the water few times? I boil my water and let it cool down and then add fertiliser but because I use a LOT of it it would save me time and money if I knew if it is safe to reuse the water.
If you don't have a problem with pests currently then reusing the water is generally no problem. If you worry about pests spreading then maybe reusing water only in sections where plants are close together anyway could work.
I love hanging plants but we rent and I dont think we'd be allowed to drill anything into the ceiling 😔 does anyone know of a temporary fix for hanging plants?
Hello. I’ve been following you for years now. I’ve been busy these past months and wasn’t able to watch your vids. I just checked the latest and oh my, when i saw you I was like, what happened, she has aged a lot after like 6 months of not watching. Anyway, pls take care of yourself. God bless

Freezer bags and rubber bands work too.
My hoya njoy is one of my most prolific growers! It is so funny to me how plants behave so differently from house to house 😂
Ross’s hanging propagation character is adorable 😀🇨🇦
Claire, i would have put the rail up with a pully system so you could lower it to water them.
That dracaena would love your balcony, mine are mostly outside and they do much better in fresh air and lots of light. Just love your rails!
