I learned about this as a cautionary tale in grad school. Your renaming of his boat is hilarious and on point, as per usual. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Dr. Grande 🎄
Good morning, Dr. Grande! It's good to hear that Dr. Moy survived pancreatic cancer. All of the people I ever knew who had the disease died of it. As for Moy's disappearance when he was shortly due to appear in court, too many coincidences are too coincidental. That's from "The Flintstones;" I only quote from the best. I believe that he stage managed his disappearance, had secreted money away with this in mind, and left the poor schnook he took on board with him to tell a tale of him drowning.
There are some doctors in the U.S. and also in Japan who have tried ivermectin on pancreatic cancer, with success. These were patients who were considered beyond hope.
Those emergency beacons are activated when submerged in water. There's literally a Coast Guard station right there. It would be interesting to know how long he was in the water. They may have been there so fast that he didn't have time to open the life raft.
What about the substantially larger vessel? Did that sink, too? Surely someone would have reported the boat and its occupants missing. Authorities might have put those pieces together. But that's just a shot in the dark. By the way, "Max & Marvin" would be a great name for a buddy movie.
My hunch is that he had another boat on board or nearby and got on that before scuttling the main boat. The other person on board has been paid handsomely to keep the faith while the fraudster is now recovering from facial surgery in Thailand.
I don't believe there was another boat. I don't think he ever got on that boat. He met Max somewhere, gave him his phone (for tracking purposes) and then disappeared. Let me add this, I knew Marvin personally from many years ago. He has always been a "shady" person despite what some others have said about him. He even managed to get me in a bit of trouble in my youth.
I am really at sea over this case. If Marvin wanted to kill himself, why go to so much fuss, even putting someone else's life at risk for no reason? If Max's story was true, why wasn't the collision reported by the larger vessel? To me none of the alternatives sound likely. But the fact that Marvin was nowhere in sight immediately after the incident makes me feel that he was never there in the first place. Maybe Marvin paid Max to go out in the boat alone, and then Max fell asleep. But that doesn't explain the unreported collision.
Sadly, this wouldn't be the first collision of a large vessel to collide with a smaller one and continue their trajectory as if nothing happened. There is video footage this very thing occurring, one large vessel pummeled through a Coast Guard ship and kept on their course. Marvin Moy was very generous and kind to his friends. Please be kind to his memory. He would not intentionally risk Max Wong's life (or anyone's life for that matter). Also, it is very easy to disappear at sea and also, often difficult, for helicopters to spot a human in the ocean. The water temperature was about 63 degrees that day which is cold enough to begin to loose dexterity. I highly doubt that his friend would risk his life in some sort of planned escape.
Exact same reason people commit hit and runs in cars. Maybe the person piloting the larger vessel was afraid of getting sued, losing his job, etc if he owned up to the collision. Maybe he wasn’t following proper procedure or he was intoxicated and was worried he’d be arrested if he admitted to causing the boat collision. Lots of reasons someone might not report it.
Merry Christmas from London Dr Grande!😁🎁🎄! Thank you so much for everything you have bought us this year! Sending love and blessings to yourself and your family! 🙏🏽🙏🏽💖💖💖
Thank you for your irrepressible wit, you hard-working doctor you. Season's greetings and I am looking forward to great videos on this channel in 2023. But I do hope you allow yourself a couple of days off, at least. You are precious 💖
To my ear, it sounds like the boat was lost at sea. It's extremely difficult to believe that, for any amount of money, you could talk me into floating at sea until the Coast Guard might--if I'm lucky, save me. Even if the timing of the fishing trip was planned to coincide with Marvin's court date, nothing of the aftermath of the rescue sounds like a planned escape. Where's Marvin? Where's the boat? Did Max just "play along"? I think this is a case of unfortunate coincidence.
Yes, thank you I agree. As I stated previously: Sadly, this wouldn't be the first collision of a large vessel to collide with a smaller one and continue their trajectory as if nothing happened. There is video footage this very thing occurring, one large vessel pummeled through a Coast Guard ship and kept on their course. Marvin Moy was very generous and kind to his friends. Please be kind to his memory. (Some of the comments on this thread are disgusting). He would definitely not intentionally risk Max Wong's life (or anyone's life for that matter). Also, it is very easy to disappear at sea and also, often difficult, for helicopters to spot a human in the ocean. The water temperature was about 63 degrees that day which is cold enough to begin to loose dexterity. I highly doubt that his friend would risk his life in some sort of planned escape. If they had planned it, they most definitely wouldn't be 25 miles off the shore - way to risky.
"mugshot" 😂 Marvin could have asked five people to join him on the boat believing that none of them would be able to accept his offer, but to his surprise, Max took him up on the offer. Marvin could have given Max something in a drink causing him to vomit and fall asleep.
Good morning Dr Grande. What a strange situation. I personally believe he put an end to his life. Thank you Dr Grande. Brilliant analysis, tragic outcome and informative topic.
This is most definitely going to be a future Unsolved Mysteries episode. AIS radar would’ve revealed a potential vessel strike, yet no such vessel was ever found with damage by USCG. Since no exact collision location can be pinpointed, only a slick, using any sonar to reveal the boat at the bottom will be similarly difficult to find. The most curious thing is all the cargo vessels in the area were not found with any damage.
Without knowing what happened, there appears to be an ethics crisis in the medical establishment. Maybe there always was one. People my age remember shows like Ben Casey, Dr. Kildare and Marcus Welby, Md. I wonder if they were secretly brainiac criminals.
