He did believe this until he was finally caught. And he was only caught because Karis family investigated and brought together evidence. And finally someone in power listened to them.
So had they(Karis family) just believed Kari killed herself, Matt would be free to this day, probably living happily with Vanessa and their kids.
In the book it spoke about many instances where he sexually abused girls and women, he always got away with it or a slap on the wrist.
He blamed the kids he worked with for the porn found on his laptop and the powdered drugs Kari came across.
He always got away with everything. And Kari was his number one defender.
2 instances. There were charges to sex hotlines on their phone bill. Matt said his info must have been stolen. Kari stormed into the bank and demanded those charges be reversed as they were fraudulent. The bank did as ordered.
Matt kissed a 14(?) year old girl. Unwanted kiss. When Kari heard that this girl had told what he did, Kari marched over to the girls home and gave the mom a talking down to about her daughter lying about Matt.

Vanessa Bulls was my middle school English teacher! She was really distraught over this. A little before this information came out, every time I would walk by her classroom during lunch, she'd be crying. Her relationship with her fiancé came to an end during the court case, and she lost her teaching job. This story caught everyone off guard, and the students that were close to her, were tore up over it. She was a nonjudgmental and patient teacher from what I remember. I can't comment much about this case, I acknowledge she obviously should've done many things differently. I do feel like if she went to the cops, it would've saved Kari. I think Bulls must've felt this way too. I will say though, before all of this came to light, she was everyone's favorite teacher.

So very sad and tragic that her affection for Matt caused her to abandon her sense of morality. After Matt first even mentioning killing his wife, Vanessa should have ran to to the police in order to save Kari's life and only made it worse by ridiculously lying to the police once Matt killed Kari. The affair part should have been her first clue that Matt was a selfish and narcissistic turd of a man. Those daughters have lost both parents, Matt got off easy with a 65 year sentence, and Vanessa will carry her role in this with her for the rest of her life. I hope those girls are doing well today. Being a Baptist pastor allowed him to brush just about anything aside claiming his god would forgive it or he had some real knowledge about what his god thought. A common tactic with religious leaders who abuse others and/or break the law.
The people around Kari took his side when talking to her because of his religious power position. Also, no autopsy or good investigation of her death was another example of people in the area immediately believing what he said and giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Too often we see this type of thing with religious leaders. They are believed before their victims - no matter whether the victims are children or adults! It's lucky her immediate family decided to hire competent investigators to bring some sort of justice to this terrible case.

When the baby's doctor was made aware that she died, she was in shock. Kassidy was making a strong recovery, there was no thought that she was so weak that she'd pass at home. They released her from hospital because she was getting better.
Also. When Matt learned of the exhumation being done on Kari, he spoke to his mistress Vanessa and was worried about them exhuming Kassidy as well.
Both Kari and Kassidy had similar bruising around their mouth and nose area, that most likely came from pushing something on their faces.

I think a lot of women aren't raised being confident in their own decisions and people may think they're being a good friend insisting you're wrong about your worst fears and all is well. Ah, but leave it to good old Hollywood to never really get it quite right, lol. The God of the bible uses any man He pleases, "good" or "bad," to accomplish HIS will. Not that any of us is all that good anyway, see Romans 3:10-12 KJV. God "hardened" Pharaohs heart repeatedly (Exodus 14:4 etc. KJV) to his own destruction, even taking his firstborn son, ""I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord." God favored David, who was a murderer and an adulterer and was truly sorry, yet that child was taken also. He "stirred up the spirit of Cyrus," the king of Persia, around 600 BC (Ezra 1 and 2 Chronicles 36:22-23 KJV) to help rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.

@@cynthiamurphy3669 so are you saying God's will in this case was that he use the husband to kill the wife? Think about it for a second. HIS will apparently was done based on the examples you offered up! Oh glory to GOD in the highest.
Time to maybe rethink if HIS will is something praiseworthy. It would appear in this and many cases, that it is not.

@@InTheSkyGirl I can't imagine why in the world you got that kind of interpretation out of what I said at all - but noting your sarcasm, I can tell you are unfamiliar with the God of the bible and probably could care less, unfortunately. The guy above me quoted a line from a Hollywood movie script (lol) that frankly is just absolutely wrong according to the bible in that nobody can truly "use" God. All I did was give actual bible references for anyone to read for himself/herself to show that you don't use God, He uses an individual as He will, period. Every time I'm able, I use the opportunity to post actual bible references, hoping at least one person in the thread might actually check it out personally. Almost no one reads the bible for himself or herself these days including so-called "Christians." I do realize that most whose god is psychology could probably care less. (I should say also that I enjoy watching westerns and have nothing against John Wayne).

    • @InTheSkyGirl
      @InTheSkyGirl 3 года назад +2

@@cynthiamurphy3669 Pardon? You are the one who brought up God using His power in order to impose His will. So was His will done in this instance or what? Did He work His will through the husband in the murder if the wife as He imposed His will on Pharoh, hardening his heart and whatnot? You gave the example. I don't think you realize what you have defended here. In short, you have offered an all powerful god who imposes His will, to the detriment of whomever. Innocents be damned. Ultimately, His will is done. And believers are a-ok with this apparently.
I am quite familiar with the god of the Bible. I've read the book and am not at all impressed. Indeed, I could NOT care any less for the bible god character nor the myth that was created around him. It is amazing the excuses people still offer up for their gods here in the 21st century.
The gods are creations of man. Not the other way around.

    - Pastor's wife (religious woman) would't have let herself to be in underwear, if she commited suicide. Suicide isn't just an act, but a process.
    - She wouldn't have prayed for daughter to be in heaven, yet to deserve the place in the heaven with her.
    - Suicidide is worst sin than a murder (for those people), after crucifiction, because it is a ,,murder of soul and body".
    - She talked to therapist and was concerned for her safety. Maybe he thought she was depressed and imagine things.

Great shirt, and one of the best channels of it's kind on the tube. Yes this case has similarities in a strange way to the White house farm Murders in the UK.
Framing someone else because of their personality frailties, and the authorities not being diligent with everything at outset, which creates suspicion, on the police.

Jeremy Bamber had the personality disorder, (narcissistic)his sister had schizophrenia which isn’t a personality disorder. Psychiatric illness. But you make a good point that the police were naive to believe the original story from the mass murderer.

Dr. Grande, could you speak about the Mollie Tibbetts case? I watched the whole trial, and I'm curious of your speculation.

I don't really thing this man would have been detoured. He was hell bent on murdering her and had vilified her by saying she was lazy and things like this. He had zero compassion for her. Kari was grieving and no one can blame her that she would not be able to think clearly, especially about her husband being a potential threat to her. This case is sad. Kari suffered the loss of her baby and then was made to feel even worse from the words and treatment of her own husband. That man is truly evil. I can't believe he is still trying to get out of prison, but Texas has it right and he will stay where he belongs: in prison.

According to Vanessa, Matt told her that when he was killing Kari, he told her to go be with Kassidy.
Just how chilling and sick is that. He tortured this poor naive woman to her end.

If they didn't autopsy the wife I wonder if they did one on the daughter. An evil man could kill his daughter as well.
