I appreciate the way how you hold up each item and show what your gonna do with it. I find myself rewinding the video to dbl check everything I need to remember. This is what I’m just focusing on, minimal wallets and I just envy how you made this wallet and how you made the edges look so professional! Thank you for keeping me interested in leather work.
Your burnishing is beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for posting this! It is so helpful to see each step. Your work is beautiful!
The best burnishing I’ve ever seen.
Thank you for this video. Love the color of the leather.
Thank you for watching! Its a pretty sweet color, eh?
This so much more satisfying than soap scraping😃 At least there’s some very nice to show for the efforts at the end.
Whaaat? I didnt think anything could be superior to soap scraping, haha. Huge compliment!
Awesome video bro! Thank you
Great work master. Thank's for tutorial 🙏
And all your work is incredible, it's inspiring
Thank you my friend! I appreciate that!
My Man! Outstanding work as always!
I appreciate it brother!
you got me into leather crafting 😂
Awesome man, love your work!
I appreciate it my friend!
This is amazing...thanks for this...!!!
haha thank you as well!
I know this whole process would take waaaay longer than 5 minutes. But finishing edges is its own rewarding effort. Beautifully done 👍
Hahaha I really wish it was a 5 minute process. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for making this helpful video, I really appreciate that you wrote the links for the tools you used.
I just wondered what was the liquid in the brown bottle that you used first before Tokonole?
Hi bryan! great as always! what did you use after the canvas cloth at the end?
Hi! This is amazing! Can I ask what are the types of fabric you use to polish?
What's the thickness of that leather? The wallet looks just amazing btw!
Awesome! I use all same progress except the dremel one.
Im stoked to hear that! The dremel is mostly just an express sanding option. Not totally necessary
Very well done & enjoyable. I know how sore a guy's hands are after something like that.
It eventually catch's up with you.
Which size of edge beveler do you use on that Palosanto? Thanks dude, great job.
What glue do you use? I'm having trouble with my edges because of the type of glue. Tried two different ones. The 2nd one seems to be worse.
Well done edges make a wallet. This beyond well done.
Beautiful work. I just started leather working and cannot burnish properly to save my life, ugh! What was in the amber bottle at 1:01?
Very nice, what kind of glue did you use?
what cloth do you use ? thanks.
Is this a chrome tanned leather.. im assuming its veg by the edge but the color has me wondering
What is the first glass bottle?
What kind of leather is used
Un gran trabajo.
Me encanta con que mimo tratas el cuero
Gracias!!
Newly subscribed and love your videos! I’m enamored with both your edge beveler and your layered bench-clamped pony. I believe you said that pony is Dream Factory, yes?
And I hit the link for the beveler but I’m interested in the exact size you have?
Lovely. Simple. Clean. Smooth. Great colors. Exactly what all of us fellow leather workers strive for. Thanks in advance.
Thanks so much! I appreciate that! That is the medium sized Dream Factory pony. I absolutely love it! As for the beveler Ive always used size 0, but recently bought the size 1 and love it just as much.
What is the first glass bottle? water?
Which is the knife do you use ?
Высший пилотаж
I noticed you sand in one direction. Is that typical to get a good burnish?
Weeeeee! So satisfying to watch, even from a leatherworker's eye. Yo, what grit wheel do you use on dremel? Also, is that gum, or is that just a brown bottle of water? ;)
Thats 240 grit brotha. And its just tap water tryin to look all fancy and whatnot
Luke
Exactly what I needed to know.
Thank you for asking.
Thank you for asking the question I was wondering as well.
I can’t seem to find this color on your website, how can I possibly get this color besides the only 2 colors you got???
Пуэбло и водой заполировать можно
Проделай тоже самое с хромкой/комби )
WOW! Really enjoy watching you create functional art! Do you have a link to that wallet in that specific colour so I can order it?
Hey! Thanks so much for watching! I don't have this color as a stock color due to limited quantity however I have enough to make this size for you. Shoot me an email at lowtideleather@gmail.com and Ill give you the details
I've been chasing the right edge beveler for a bit now. What size palosanto do you use??
Ive always used size 0 but I bought the size 1 a few months ago and think I actually like that one better
Thats one micro dremel machine you got there... havent seen them this small before..
Is it a Dremel ?
It is! The Dremel actually hangs stationary and the part that you see is an attachment arm that allows for fine tuning and lighter weight
Awesome vids. You got me to subscribe. Can I ask you what brand of leather it is. Looks pretty unique. (Maybe self dyed?)
Thanks so much! That leather is called Ortensia Pueblo, made from the Badalassi Carlo tannery in Italy. Its super unique and a dream to work with
That is amazing color, can i know how to make the dye looked like it is stained? And what kind of the leather you use? Beautiful works 👏🏻
Super awesome blue right?? This is pre-dyed from the Badalassi Carlo tannery in Italy
Is it Pueblo ?
Beautiful work. What weight(s) of leather did you use for this project?
Thank you! I stay in the 3.5 oz range for wallets. Hope that helps!
What did you put on with the dobber before sanding? Water?
Yessir! Just a fancy bottle of tap water
I fell asleep watching this. In a good way. ASMZzzzz
Another great vid, Brian. What grit sandpaper on the dremel-nator?
Haha I guarantee a soundtrack of leather working sounds could be a sleep playlist. Thats 240 on the dremelnator
Beautiful work. Can I ask what the substance is that you use after beveling and before using the 1000 grit sandpaper, in the dark bottle?
Thank you! Its just water that I use to wet down the fibers in one direction before I sand
Low Tide Leather gotcha thank you!
Do you adjust your burnishing process depending on the type of leather you are working with?
The natural veg tan I’ve been using gets water stains really easily so I am very cautious about using water to burnish!
Definitely. Some leathers are waaay more sensitive to applying water and Tokonole. The process is always the same however I have to be more cautious for the Veg Tan and Nubuck leathers
What is the liquide of minute 1,02? Please
Awesome work! A few questions:
1. How do you prevent the glue layer from interfering with slicking the edges? When I sand my edges the glue 'peeps up' from between the layers of leather and forms small glue spots. Maybe I'm using the wrong product.
2. Any experience with Tokonole colour finishes (black or brown)?
I have the exact 2 same questions. Please help us out!
I had the same in the past. Let the glue air before you put the two pieces together. I'm using water based glue, which is white, and its ready when the colour is gone. Since I'm not "rushing" the issue is gone. I hope this helps.
I don’t know if you’ll see this 4 months later, but I’d recommend picking up one of these adhesive erasers. They are great for the exact issue you are referring to, and also cleaning up any other areas where your glue lines might not be as clean as you’d like. Great video, love your work.
Where do you get your custom leather stamps from? (Low Tide Leather logo)
Thanks dude! The brass ones are made by Leather Stamp Maker and the more economical ones are made by Turner Laserworks
@@LowTideLeather Awesome! I appreciate it.
What type of stitching pony do you use/recommend?
I have a cheap $20 one off amazon and a medium size Dream Factory pony. I really like them both however the dream factory is more convenient for work bench use.
Hello...first of all beautiful work...second , Do my eyes decieve me or are there no stitches in this wallet?
do you not stitch your products?
Cuantos milímetros tiene el cuero que usas?, muy lindo trabajo, saludos
3-3.5 mm for wallets. Hope that helps!
What kind of leather is this? im stuck in this quarantine and want to make one! thanks bro
Badalassi Carlo Pueblo Leather in Ortensia
Might it be normal to see itty-bitty bits of fuzz still sticking up here and there along a burnished edge (let's say more along the edges of the edge) or does that just mean it wasn't sanded (or polished?) down enough? Thanks.
Not an expert here but sounds like an issue with sanding, saw another video that said that's really common with sanding and why he didn't recommend it, it's called threading (or at least that's what he called it). He doesn't recommend any sanding for this reason but clearly this person managed to do it without issue somehow. Finer grit probably threads less and good leather sources probably help too (Tandy is notorious for bad leather if you aren't already aware, good to practice on but tend to have a lot of issues).
@@aphyngodiva2551 Hey thanks for the reply! Yeah, I actually saw a "CHARTERMADE" video yesterday where he also recommended not sanding and uses his knife instead, he called it fluff, lol. I also saw another video yesterday where they used a very fine sandpaper during the burnishing process and he recommended using worn-in spots on the paper which are even finer....his edge seemed to be very smooth and glassy. I think having flushly cut edges can help.
@@aphyngodiva2551 Didn't consider the quality of the leather, it's not from Tandy, been using/learning with some no-name Belgian veg-tan I got at a workshop I attended. That leather seems fairly clean but I did recently get some "B-Grade" Perla Azzurra leather and it does seem to be a bit cleaner. Might have to pick up some of the 1000 grit paper used in this video and see how that does. While the paper I have does fluff or thread, it also does seem to clean up some of the fluff after I've already wet and burnished the edge somewhat.
Beautiful work. Very nice leather.
What is tokonoke? A special cream?
Greeting from Chile, southamerica.
Greeting! Its an agent for burnishing edges. It helps create that coveted shine
@@LowTideLeather Thanks. Have a nice day.
А прошить?
What do you apply at 1:09?
Late, but read in the comments it was a fancy bottle of tap water lol
I need you help!
A true leather craftsman doesn’t need to stitch pockets down. Very clean look!!
Hahaha I only wish. Ive made it a habit to burnish before stitching
@@LowTideLeather genius trick !
👍💯
That is not the same green you offer on your website!? That is 🔥
Thanks! This is a limited leather that can be requested for custom projects
Love you’re work mate
Do you sell you’re patterns at all ?
Ill try to figure out how to make patterns. Its a great idea!
@@LowTideLeather I would definitely be interested in patterns too!
@@LowTideLeather Count me in also.
@@LowTideLeather I'm in for patterns 👍🏿
How you getting on with the patterns bro?
Is the majority of your wallets veg tan type leather?
Correct! I really love working with Veg Tan and it ages so well
What's the liquid in the amber bottle? Just water?
Yea just some tap water dressed up in a fancy bottle
1:19 my plan
1:23 my reality
Can I buy this leather from somewhere? I would like to make myself something and this color is amazing
Why not burnish it with a belt sander with canvas on it. The way I do it. Way faster
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks dude!
Thanks dude!
What type of skin is used?

@@paracore4313 Thanks for your attention to reply

Just some good ol' tap water
Чувак,ты забыл прошить.
он не умеет
Seriously?! Glass!
You get weird looks in public when you're rubbing the edge of your wallet on your cheek at checkout.
Low Tide Leather 😂
How about stiching? 😂
Stitching is overrated haha. Nah, I do the edge work before I stitch
when you accidently get a smidge of tokonole on the face. make a grown man cry. #rectanglecrew
Spilled milk.. nah. Spilled Tokonole. Game over. #rectanglecrew
Since you called this a tutorial I expected some voice over with advice. Just leaving the microphone on and turning up the volume doesn't help in teaching anything - surely a requirement of a 'tutorial' - but you are just using it to jump on the ASMR bandwagon.
That’s solid advice. I’m just starting this whole RUclips thing so that helps me a lot to know what people want for future vids. Thanks for taking the time to share Andrew.
@@LowTideLeatherThanks for taking the time to reply. I was attracted to the piece as I am just starting out in leather craft and my edging is far from good. While the result you achieved was very good I am not sure I learned as much as I could about how you achieved it. I will look out for anything further you post on the subject.
You will find Andrew that misplaced expectations will always bring you disappointment. Enjoy life for what it is, not what you expect it to be. This video was wonderful.
