i got a nitro car for a gift,it was bought off ebay and is ready to run for £200, all i did was buy fuel, i was total stumped with what to do and how to start it and run it in, this video is a god send, i'm panicing but it's so simple, thank you so much.
You have the best RC video explanations. I just got a used Exceed Monster Rally and it’s been a blast, I just might buy a new one soon. I hope the support stays consistent.
I give nitrorcx major credit because they have came a long way with the quality of these cars. they keep them very affordable for the middle class man.
We use pretty much whatever that's available at our hobby shop when we stock up on supplies. We have been using O'donnell nitro fuel for a while though and it's been working great.
Once you set the gap for how wide the carburetor will be at neutral position even if you turn the throttle trim to full negative it won't close it completely. The only way to completely stop the engine would be to stop air from going into the engine or closing the exhaust exit completely. You can stop the fuel from going in but there will always be a bit of fuel in the line so the engine won't stop immediately.
Was wondering what your thoughts are on shutting off the engine via fuel line vs air intake cutoff are now. I've been seeing mixed thoughts, with some being concerned about the engine briefly running very lean via fuel line cutoff causing sufficient wear. Others being concerned with dirt and other debris getting into the carb when covering the air intake to cutoff the engine that way. My particular air filter (hpi rs4) is a bit of a bitch to remove and attach, so your thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.
Yes, you actually do need to break in a Nitro engine. The piston and sleeve become a matched set during break in and the engine runs much smoother with less friction if broken in properly. Not breaking in an engine won't outright kill it, it will just turn what may have been a 6 gallon engine into a 2 gallon engine.
I tune mine per weather changes, if it's cooler, run leaner, hotter, run richer, idle screw doesnt need to be messed with hardly at all, depends on how low of a idle you have it set for on cooler weathers.
@fallenkevinl Not a problem, Fallenkevini! Hm, would there be another local hobby store you can find the 20% nitro gas that you need? We apologize for the inconvenience because we do not carry the fuel for our customers to purchase due to hazardous issues during delivery. Hope the information helped. -cn
I have two of these machines, they are very sturdy and functional. To learn they are fine and they are the same as the best known brands such as kyosho. Being 1/10 they have no difference as the 1/8 are more
@pawel12060 Great question, Pawel 12060! Our techs would advice you the first thing you should do when you get your car is read the manual and familiarize yourself with common terms and the basic operations and functions of the car. If you have questions, feel more than welcomed to ask us! Hope the information helped!
If you have a hobby shop in your area they should have the fuel, if not you can Google "20% nitro fuel" and you'll find retailers online that sells them .
@meatloaf396 Hey meatloaf396, thanks for the comment! It's always good practice to turn on the radio first then turn on the car, and when done using, turn off the car first and then the radio. This actually prevents mishaps if somehow your signal receives radio interference. Hope the information helped!
@sonic2000ish Unfortunately, our online cataloque does not supply fuel/gas to our customers due to hazardous reasons during delivery. However, you can find the 20% nitro gas that you need for your engine at local hobby stores near you. =)
never ever pinch the fuel line to kill ur motor just as u never let it run completely out of fuel u will end up damaging ur motor and burn up glo plugs just the same as running it too lean always kill ur motor by blocking exaust or carb. it may be harder to restart but youll save lots of money on plugs an motors in the long run.btw if u want a strong runnig bottom end just let it idle for the first tank
I did everything you did here. I jsut bought a second hand HSP Backwash with an SH18 engine. I did everything you did here, But as soon as I hit the throttle it dies. And it won't idle for more than about 20 sec. Help please!
Ive just been given an RC car by a family member and i have a little theory about stopping the engine. If no air intake prevents the engine from starting, theoretically it should stop the engine once running. So if you trim your accelerator just right, changing the trim would close the air intake hole, and stop your engine from your transmitter. Is this possible?
@meatloaf396 That's awesome =) We're just here to assist our hobbyists and customers with questions, that's all. The information may assist people who are concerned or interested. Thank you, Meatload396!
im just wondring go glow plugs sell on your website because i see the glow plug starter but not the glow plug itself and does the car come with 1 or 2 glow plugs?
nice video, do these stock settings apply to all motors? am a nuvi and just got my first nitro, but when I want to accelerate the engine dies, what could cause that? thanks
wait a bit and let the glow stick stay untill you hear the car sound a little different and then drive or the engine doesnt get the right amount of fuel
Hi I have your exceed thunder fire I started it out of the box it would idle run for like 5 mins only suck a bit if fuel up and shut off I watched it it dosent have an air leak but I think it's tuned way too lean soo by question is when I tune my engine which it's a 0.7 do I have to tune the high speed and low speed needles to 2 and a half turns out
@bjmxd Hi Bjmxd, thank you for your inquiry! We sure do sell individual glow plugs on Nitrorcx . com. It comes with 1 glow plug. Hope that answered your questions.
bought my nitro RC car from nitrorcx.com and defiantly not disappointing really good car good for beginners and just to let u know u might want to charge ur igniter for glow plug i forgot to and then ended up thinking it was broken and then charged it and then started 2 pull great car i give in 600 stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just purchased an HPI nitro star 15..along with all an new glow igniter, batteries and the HPI recommended 20% fuel. I started the engine, following the HPI break-in process and it ran without issue for a half tank. The HPI engine suddenly died and would not restart..turns out the glow plug provided by HPI was shot!!! Is HPI crap or was this just a fluke? I'm very dissatisfied... what went wrong?
@JOHNDEEBANK Glad you enjoyed the video, Johndeebank. Feel free to suggest what other videos you would like to see and check out the new one we just released today!
Yes you can. Just make sure you don't have superfluous fuel sitting inside the engine, because this might cause rusting(the way to cut out your engine shown in the video is a great way to get rid of excess fuel in the engine).

I just received my Exceed RC Forza today! I have been following all of your videos! Thank you for all of your help!!!
These videos are GREAT. Haven't started my car in a while so its nice to come back and revise :)
I give nitrorcx major credit because they have came a long way with the quality of these cars. they keep them very affordable for the middle class man.
Fantastic video.
Just bought my first thunder tiger tomahawk. Needs doing up before running. This video helped a lot. Thanks for posting.
As a newbie to nitro I found this informative, thank you
We use pretty much whatever that's available at our hobby shop when we stock up on supplies. We have been using O'donnell nitro fuel for a while though and it's been working great.
Great instructional video. It worked for me, Thank you.

Brilliant, thanks for this, I was a bit confused but now looking forward to having a go with the car. Cheers.

Great vid, answered many questions

Great video, we learned a lot!
@fallenkevinl Awesome! Glad you got the assistance you needed, Fallenkevinl! You have a great one! -cn
thanks for all the help man
Look at the transmitter, make sure that the throttle trim is centered.
@98treeman This is the Ultra 2 Speed! Thank you for your inquiry!

I love this guy
The car in the video was our 51C22 Ultra that we used to carry.
pemberitahuan yg mudah di mengerti ..
Loven it like nine Nitro car vids im in Nitro heaven lol.
You have to tune it accordingly to the weather in your area. Elevation and temperature can affect how the engine is going to run.
You made starting it look so simple, i think ive noticed one error in my attempts
@Cooldudemills Great question, Cooldudemills! If it is an electric car, the nitro engine tuning video does not need to be performed.
hi great vid!! i just wanted to know, what happens if you dont have the copper washer on the glow plug?
The truggy will be back in stock soon, yes you can use the glow plug from the .18 engine in the .28 engine.
I tune mine per weather changes, if it's cooler, run leaner, hotter, run richer, idle screw doesnt need to be messed with hardly at all, depends on how low of a idle you have it set for on cooler weathers.
Most of them don't have reverse unless it comes with a reverse module built into the cars.
-cn
You need to use 20% nitro fuel, we don't sell it but you can get it at your local hobby shop or online from another retailer.
Well done.
Great vidioe

The car in the video is the Exceed RC Ultra.
Nice 350Z on the background
If you have a hobby shop in your area they should have the fuel, if not you can Google "20% nitro fuel" and you'll find retailers online that sells them .
Whenever you adjust either the LSN or HSN you have have to adjust the other as well as the idle.
@marioman5132 You have to do that to break into your engine. After that, the procedure would be necessary if tuning and trimming is needed.
Thanks really helpful
@meatloaf396 Hey meatloaf396, thanks for the comment! It's always good practice to turn on the radio first then turn on the car, and when done using, turn off the car first and then the radio. whats the temp your car should run? and shoud you run and shut down for 20 min for a cool down?
Can i put regular gasoline to this kind of engine? planning to buy one of this... thanks
very nice
Nice question down here, if want 2 stop the car few weeks , i have to leave the nitro deposit empty right?
Dont matter.
never ever pinch the fuel line to kill ur motor just as u never let it run completely out of fuel u will end up damaging ur motor and burn up glo plugs just the same as running it too lean always kill ur motor by blocking exaust or carb. it may be harder to restart but youll save lots of money on plugs an motors in the long run.btw if u want a strong runnig bottom end just let it idle for the first tank
At 2:26 do you mean turn the needle clockwise until it stops or turn the needle clockwise until it becomes stiff and is harder to turn?
@headshot8000 15% is fine, although they do recommend 20% mixture, and you could go as high as 30%
I did everything you did here. I jsut bought a second hand HSP Backwash with an SH18 engine. I did everything you did here, But as soon as I hit the throttle it dies. And it won't idle for more than about 20 sec. Help please!
Those needle settings are not universal. As an example, the Thunder Tiger LSN has a factory setting of 5.5 turns out and 3 for the HSN.
A friend gave me his hip savage and it has an xtm motor on it cam you help me out with seeing it up?
@MrLarbag Normal temp is about 180-200F
what kind of tires would you recomend for raceing with a stadium truck ?
@sonic2000ish please give our tech support a call, we will be glad to assist you with this issue

I found out that you can open and close the tank cap repeatedly to let the fuel go into the carburettor. Just an alternative way
You could be running a little too rich, adjust the low speed needle down a little and try it again.
I have a electric rustler and I also just a got a nitro pro line losi and I hate that I have to go through 4 tanks before I can go all out
@meatloaf396 That's awesome =) We're just here to assist our hobbyists and customers with questions, that's all. The information may assist people who are concerned or interested. Thank you, Meatload396!
You can get the starter kit on our website, the fuel from a local hobby shop or from another online vendor.
I hope my madstorm will run... Been sitting for a while, im not a fan of intros so im having my local hobbie shop do it for me
@pawel12060 No problem, Pawel12060! Always glad to help! :D -cn
im just wondring go glow plugs sell on your website because i see the glow plug starter but not the glow plug itself and does the car come with 1 or 2 glow plugs?
@williebon Glad the video helped you, Williebon! Let us know what other videos you would like to see =) Have fun with your buggy.
nice video, do these stock settings apply to all motors? am a nuvi and just got my first nitro, but when I want to accelerate the engine dies, what could cause that?

That help was the best I love you man no homo lol
what kind of gasoline is used in nitro engine?
You use specific nitro fuel. They sell it at a lot of hobbystores. If you're still unsure, you could always ask them.
Also does this work for all your nitro engines
i always prime my buggie by putting my finger over the exaust pipe n not over the carborator do u know wich one is better.
hey i got the savage 4.6 big block and i wanted to know what temps i should be running it at. Thanks

Hi Bobby. I have a new nitro bug crusher truck. But it won't start. The glow pug is fine.. But I can not see a idel screw. Can you help
@RcZandMore No nitro car/trucks have engines.Electric models uses motors.
Actually some do have reverse, its just a relatively rare luxury feature.
I have just purchased an HPI nitro star 15..along with all an new glow igniter, batteries and the HPI recommended 20% fuel. Yes you can. Just make sure you don't have superfluous fuel sitting inside the engine, because this might cause rusting(the way to cut out your engine shown in the video is a great way to get rid of excess fuel in the engine).
