    If your Engine hasn't been started for several months, starting it can be a hassle. They usually won't start as easily as if they'd been started recently. This tutorial covers some steps in getting it set up and ready for use again. If you've got any questions feel free to drop me a message below!

    Use a heat gun or even a blow dryer to warm up engine before starting is probly the best tip I can give for easy startup.

    • @TheRCBiker

      Hi John, I don't think the crash is related to it not starting. have you tried putting some fuel directly in the glow plug hole to see if it fires up? Also check the glow plug is working, and, It may sound obvious - but make sure your igniter is charged up!

    • @johnswallow5439

    Great guide, really like your videos...BUT. One fatal mistake on this one. You adjusted idle gap from fully closed, with your throttle trim. When you get it started this way, the engine will stall when you apply the brakes. ALWAYS. Make sure idle gap is as specified 1-2mm when brake is applied, this way the servo is forcing it shut( but adjust with open throttle, or you may damage the carb). Again, love your guides, well spoken and eksplaned.

    Hi mate , had my stepsons nanda buggie started after few months in house starts no problem but won't stop on the ground just stalls can't figure it out had no problems before with it could the clutch be gone ?

    • @lewisturner3204
      @lewisturner3204 5 лет назад

      make sure you leave the buggie running for a minute or so to allow the engine to heat up, lift the wheels off the ground and gently give gas, if the wheels turn then the clutch should be fine, then put the buggie back on the floor, give it a gentle push and apply a small amount of throttle and try and maintain speed, it should then work, if it stalls it's probably not getting enough fuel so unscrew the screw a little nex5 to the engine to allow more fuel in.

    very informative refresher tutorial , i miss using my nitro buggy.
    btw you over flooded the engine, but it did help lubricate the motor well before it actually started.
    i recommend fresh after run oil instead of nitro gas after removing glow plug then crank it a few times without glow plug igniter.
    then prime and add power to start the engine.

      Depends entirely on the conditions. If you've been driving on dirt / sand then I'd certainly look at taking the engine apart and cleaning the parts. If it's been on tarmac then it wont be as bad, but personally I'd clean it either way.

    I have seen inside engines that have sat for a year with no after run oil, and it wouldn't run st all no matter how hard I tried. So I took the engine apart and cleaned all of the sludge and stuff up and it ran again. If you can't get it to start at all I would advice tearing it apart and making sure every component inside that engine is super clean. But make sure you re oil your piston and connecting rod and bearings before you put it together

    • @TheRCBiker

      It could be running rich. But warm up the engine before making any adjustments. Smoke when the engine is first started could just be old oil burning off or after run oil/WD40 burning off that's inside.

Just bought 2 nitro cars from someone and they both worked fine for a few hours... but 1 doesn't wanna start anymore even though it has compression... and the 2nd one now stalls when I hit the throttle... the problemen... they are made for 20% nitromethane... I used 25% nitromethane. How bad can it be damaged from this mistake? Nothing has blown up but 1 doesn't start anymore... it wants to start sometimes and idle for 3 seconds at best and the other one can only idle....

      If it's not been started or broken in then follow one of my First start/break in tutorial videos. This video is for already broken in engines that have been left unused ;)

    Thx RC biker very informative & helpful it was once described to me nitro is like working on an old 70 s sportscar it isn't that difficult no more than an old motorcycle or small plant like chainsaw just takes preventative maintenance and common sense !!

    Can anyone tell me how long can the fuel stay in the fuel tank before it can no longer be used? And is it a problem if it stays in the fuel bottle when it’s half full, thanks

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  4 года назад

      Best place to keep fuel is only in the fuel container, the filler bottle and tank are not air tight

    If it is for setting for months, I usually open the engine first to make sure there is no rust build up inside.

    • @TimN333
      @TimN333 5 лет назад

      Why would there be rust in there? You shouldn't have much moisture in there Especially after just a couple months. Just always use after run and you'll be fine. Dont bother checking unless you decide to just put a couple more drops of after run in.

      Yes the percentage needs to be appropriate for the engine size

    May I know what size LiPo you use for your glow igniter? How many volts please.

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  4 года назад +1

      Hi Dale, the battery voltage doesn't really matter as the igniter will regulate the voltage to 1.5v regardless of what the battery voltage is
      I tend to use whatever battery I've got at hand, either a 11.1v or 7.4v LiPo
      You can connect any battery up to 20v to it

    • @TheRCBiker

      Hi, no I never got round to using that and ended up selling it. You need a different Nitro for the helicopters, although it should start with the car fuel - just won't run very well. I would try it with the proper Nitro aero fuel before you start any further investigation :)

    What does it mean when you get like air pockets in fuel line that make car bog down then back to normal idle?

    • @Clickbaiters
      @Clickbaiters 8 лет назад

      Daniel G Usually from an air leak. Some tiny bubbles here and there in the air line is inevitable but most of the time there should be none. Again, check for air leaks. Many culprits can cause air leaks like fuel lines, fuel tanks, carb pinch bolt coming loose, etc. Some will tell you to "seal your engine"......Don't do that, it's unnecessary and in general bad advice from morons. Noobies tend to destroy engines when they go to seal them. Engines don't come sealed from the factory for a reason, they don't need it. Best of luck and enjoy the process of learning so one day you'll help someone else.
