As a local to the south end of Lake Michigan, I appreciate your video showing you keeping all the fish you catch at that depth. I’m out there all the time watching 12” perch floating dead, seeing seagulls eat them so guys can post a cool Facebook photo of a limit of 14 inchers.
Don’t forget to add a “laydown hook” to your perch rig. We use a snelled #6 Carlisle with small red beads and a tiny CO blade, attached directly to the bell sinker. Sometimes the jumbos actually prefer to feed on the bottom….
I smashed a lightening rod in my car door. I pulled it up off the bottom of a lake in Canada! It was a recent loss when I got it! Had a pluger reel on it!
Barotrauma is not a death sentence. In FL, we are required by law to carry a vent tool or descending device when reef fishing. Vent tool you just poke into the swim bladder and it vents the fish so they can swim back down. Descending device is best for the fish, but if you're tossing a lot back, it is a bit time consuming. Only downside is if the tax man (sharks/dolphins) show up and eat the fish after release.
I have heard of venting fish...Last year I spoke with the Indiana DNR and they informed me that it was illegal to release the perch from that depth bc of barotrauma...They don't even bring up the possibility of venting fish.

What are you all using for bait?
What did you brine your shrimp in?
What’s the daily limit there (LM, IN waters)? Does Indiana have a possession limit?
In Indiana it's 15 per person.

I have not...but I have heard of people doing it....I would love to...lol.
Is everyone anchored or keeping in place with a trolling motor?

Perch pounders
Can’t pull the trigger on going there from southern Indiana for a 15 perch limit.
Is this just personal fishing or do you do charters?
Just personal fishing...thanks for watching.
I watch guys on the east end of Erie catching walleye 50 ft deep and think they are doing a good thing releasing them🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
At that depth, personally I would keep everything I catch in fear of barotrama.
