    I like this tune when a trumpet and tenor or alto and trombone or 2 horns do the unison melody line.Yikes !! Love it.,

    Very useful lesson for me, those lefthand chord voicing changes bring possibilities. On 18:51 you play the C in as a passing tone on a Dbm9 (that's cool). Thank you very much ✌🏻

    Thanks Kent. Enjoy your demos and coaching. So.. for these 7sus chords.. you could take the minor pentatonic off the fifth. For example, the D7sus. The Aminor pentatonic has all the notes.. but with the D7sus chord tones as targets.

    • @isoEH
      @isoEH 3 года назад

      Hmmm.. (edit) so four bars of C pentatonic (Lydian) over the D7sus, D bass followed by four bars of C minor pentatonic (Dorian) with an F bass for the F7sus. Big fun news for me.. old news for pros, I now see.

    Great Lesson! extra beautiful harmonies in this one - I find that rhythm on the last chord in the pattern tricky to "fix" in my head. Piano sounding much better. You using a different mike? (Once when we were out on piano deliveries and went to one of those places like a school where they have security, my mate Mike signed the visitors book as "Mr Mike Raffone" - no one ever noticed!).

    Interesting. I’ve heard the story you told at the beginning now by a couple of different artists now. The exact same story. Gets the band together, ask if they know a handful of tunes, don’t call any of them and then play changes to mess with the band. I’m wondering if that speaks to more of this really being band leader culture at the time or if these stories were a myth for most people like walking a mile in the snow up hill both ways just to get to school.
