    I remember this when it happened. Too bad they didn’t include the part where Howard thanked him and told him the story of how when he was just starting to DJ, was dirt poor, yet he and his wife HAD to put the money together to buy that Bowie album. David was genuinely touched. My favorite HS moment.

    You know you’ve made it big when David Bowie sings for you! An Interview with Howard would have been amazing because Howard’s never afraid to ask the tough questions or avoid controversial topics.

      He always appeared to be in better shape than than he was. He had heart surgery a few years after this and remained a smoker. Likely had Hep C just like Lou Reed from sharing needles. That lead to the liver cancer that killed him.

      Just to be clear, Natalie, this is not Fame 90. This is a live version from '97 based on Dr, Dre's cover. But, yes, the original was co-written by Lennon. And Carlos Alomar as stated below.

      Yeah, the older songs he was playing around this time were all re-arranged to more fit what was current at the time. While it could've turned out bad, I think he managed to turn them into pretty interesting renditions. He also changed "Stay" into something fairly different and I'd almost argue better.
