    To me striped bass are the ultimate gamefish and there is nothing i love more than to target them. Im glad mass put a slot on them. Now I can rest easily knowing that later on in my life I will hopefully see fish well over 50 pounds as a common place as they should be. Everyone says a 50 pounder is the peak size and I disagree. These fish are super long lived, and records show that these fish can easily grow well over that size. I think if left alone, most can easliy break the 60 pound mark. I want my future to be like how it was 20 years ago, many large fish cruising along the harbors at night like I used to see in marthasvineyard when I was little.

    Favorite fish in the world. The patterns they make every season is fascinating. So mysterious and always keep me on my toes trying to figure them out year after year. Thank you for putting this up, I loved watching!

    Very well done! Thank you for the info. The only area I fish for stripers here in Los Angels is Lake Castaic and Pyramid Lake. They are land locked in fresh water. They can reach 40lbs but that is rare. They are unpredictable. Usually at sunrise and sunset are the best time. Worms and live Shad are their favorite bait. Sometimes they will hit poppers when they are busting on the surface for Shad. Further up the West Coast as one goes north they can be found in backwater and off the beach and are larger. I miss fishing in The Atlantic. Thanks again.

    Thank you... you really know your stuff... don’t know if you are familiar with the canal ....could you recommend a gd over all reel that is reasonably priced that can do a variety of things from jigging 5oz plugs to casting other lures?

  • @shawndrag1009
    @shawndrag1009 3 года назад

    You like the med and mh even for the doc and other heavy lures? I have a mh teremar NE. I love it but can't go much over the lure rating. 2oz and slightly over it throws fine. Been looking for the lightest, not too expensive 7' or 7'6" rod rated 1-4 or 2-6 for heavy plugs and bait fishing with some lead. Thinking about the heavy teremar ne, possibly. Any other suggestions?

    • @DanEvan
      @DanEvan 3 года назад +1

      Shawn Drag The Jigging world Nexus series spinning Rods fit your specs and needs to a T in terms of length and weight rating and they’re incredible rods for the money. OTW did a feature where Jimmy was casting the big Doc Spooks from a boat with guys and they were all using the Jigging world Nexus rods. Both the 1-4 and 2-6 serve their purpose and they’re an incredible value for what you get.

      @@DanEvan thanks so much. I've wondered about those many times. Many of the rods out there are not held in stock in the stores close to me. Looking online at all the diff classifications out there, inshore, jigging, boat, etc. I suppose they are meant to help but can make it more confusing at the same time.
