Did you also lose yourself in self-help? 💊 I hope you are gentle with yourselves and take care. Because you were already enough

An eye-opening video✨ These self help gurus make you hate yourself and try to define a standard which everyone should follow. Too exhausting!!

That's why I always remind myself, that I work on myself to feel better and to learn how to manage things better, but not to become more worthy or happier, I am inherently worthy, and I be happy is being present.

It's scary watching everyone trying to be the "best version of themselves" and never trying to reconnect with who they are. The "best version" is rarely the mirror of within, of our true selves, our true wants, but the mirror of external expectations. It's just another tool to preserve the status quo, to keep an individualistic culture that still chastises those individuals that do express themselves. Great video!

It really is ! I completly agreeon that.

yup i used to be a proud 'dedicated to self improvement' kind of person. I spent more than ten years trying to be better... but the answer was to appreciate who I am and realize that nothing needs to change. I need to stop judging my reactions and emotions and stop thinking I am a bad person who needs to change

    • @claraoutmatrix

Bad people usually never question if they are.

I’ve been trying to be ‘better’ since I was 12, now I’m 18 and still don’t feel like I’m making any progress.
This video really was an eye opener for me.
I never once thought maybe the root of the problem was because I didn’t feel enough and valuable. And maybe I just needed to stay true to myself and love me for being me. Thank you, this was really helpful!

I'm really so so happy to hear this, it means so much knowing that I at least was able to help one person. Because honestly same, I struggled a lot with this for so long, it even almost lead me to abandon who I really am and my dreams. Being yourself is the most amazing gift you can give to the world but mostly yourself.

The delayed gratification marshmallow test was taught to me in developmental psychology as a test of executive function- i.e, can indicate impulsivity, it’s not some major indicator of overall lifelong functioning bc of the marshmallow, it’s bc of the executive function difficulties which are often present in certain neuro-developmental disabilities and with anxiety/neuroticism. The way people (not you, great work/video!) misuse psychology studies and twist it to fit their own agendas upsets me & probably contributes to some of this constant need for self-improvement, for some people it’s a condition of our existence & we need to just accept ourselves for who we are & find others that do the same instead of constantly seeking to change something.

I have to admit, I barely knew much about what you just shared but I'm really thankful for the knowledge I gained from your explanation! Thanks so much for the clarity you provided!
There's so much misinformation out there these days, and it's something I strive to avoid. I will work hard not to do so unintentionally! :)
And thank you so much for your sweet feedback it means a lot especially from someone that studied psychology!

this was super refreshing after having gone down a self-help rabbit hole for the past couple of months. at first i found them motivating, but they started making me feel more stressed, anxious, unmotivated and feeling like a failuire that i wasn’t living a life like theirs. (i had placed expectations like theirs). i realized that i liked many aspects of my life previously that i was now trying to get rid of due to self-help gurus and hustlers making me feel like i was wasting time doing things i like (like looking at funny stuff online and art etc.). this video was a good wake up call to realize that they all have their own agenda and life style and it doesn’t have to be mine!

I'm glad this has helped you! Really same, until I realized improvement is great but only if we don't start to try to change ourselves completely, or else we end up feeling dead in the inside. So happy I could help! Hope you continue enjoying what you enjoy, I love art too! Take care

Same, and I also found that I was sort of hogging information into my brain without necessarily doing anything about it. I got into an 'Analysis Paralysis' type of moment where I think I'm doing something, but I'm not.

@@noemiandoks yeah same, figured i should stop watching those videos and reading those articles when i realized that i wasn't learning anything i didn't already know and was using it as a way to avoid actually doing something (which didn't really even seem to work for me). best of luck to you too! hope you have a good august!

Own thank you, you're so sweet! Honestly if you look at my previous videos you will notice that I did struggle a lot in the beggining and I still kind of struggle to find the balance with the speed of my speech for these videos. But in real life, I usually like to take time will speaking so that people are able to understand my words, especially I like to take time to emphasizes on some words that I find important. But in the end I think that if the subject matters to you and you are speaking from your heart then naturally your speech becomes more eloquent because you are speaking from your heart and not like a robot I guess ahah. And if ever I feel nervous and speak a bit slower to slow down my heart rate, it really helps. I also just love reading so much and I think this helps, because I believe that having knowledge helps a lot with confidence and so if you are confident with yourself and your subject, and are speaking with intention (leading with your heart) then you can only become eloquent.

It's unlikely that the quote is from Paulo Coelho. There’s no verified source or publication from him that includes this exact wording. While it's a popular quote online, it doesn't appear in his well-known works, and it doesn't match his typical style exactly. So, while it resonates with the themes Coelho often explores, it is not definitively attributed to him.
