Been a TGN member since December and the drills have completely changed my ball striking, I've never hit it so pure, so consistently! Already shot a 79 this year, first time ever at my home course.
I'll say it again. Literally the best golf channel out there. Seriously mate. For anyone who seriously wants to learn and put in the work. This is the holy grail. Can't thank you enough for the content 👌
Literally frightening how good that impact looked with the towel drill! Just shows how psychological golf is. Put that little ball in front of us and everything changes! Good luck on this journey Rob!
Hi Rob, I’ve been following your journey since the beginning and I must say this lesson could really be the game changer one. So glad you are back with Liam who seems to have a great deal of knowledge and manages to simplify it for the trainee. I’ve been working towards playing with my lead side myself during this winter, it has improved my ball striking and my short game in an incredible manner. I’ve been stuck around a solid 5 hcp for years. Keep up with this drill, McIlroy once said that the biggest amateur mistake is always trying to finding new keys instead of sticking to the few ones that works and implementing it on the long term ! Keep up with the great and genuine content :) cheers
Thanks for sharing the lesson Rob 👍 love watching ex tour players teach, they’re a different level for a reason, what an amazing coach he is ! Great manner and ability, good luck mate 👍
Just leaving a comment for the algorithm because I want this channel to keep doing well. Love your content Rob. EDIT: Thing about golf is funny, because I see the first thing your coach says is you're too steep. Craig Stadler, Bruce Lietzke and other PGA major and tour winners would beat everyone in this video and comment section all had swings that looked esthetically worse than yours by a long shot. I'm stuck between working towards a "typical" golf swing and swinging your own swing, and just keep practicing it till you know it intimately and where it misses etc.. If you're constantly working and trying to change a swing, you'll never conquer it. Just my dilemma.
Cheers buddy ❤️ As you probably know, I've tried both ends of that spectrum. I know what "swinging my own swing" gets me. I now want to practise things that let me swing my own swing on the course without having to think much, but with better results because I've built good muscle memory in practice.
There’s a time for technical changes and a time for working on making the best of what you have. Just now is a time for changing some of the bad habits you’ve slipped into to create a pathway to managing your game longer term. Good luck with it 👍
Brilliant video this is just what I needed.. worrying about too many positions vs just getting up their feeling athletic and hit the ball. Going to be working on this drill all the time…
Been with TGN for years - love the McGarr / Robinson videos. Hope to see you on a golf day this year Keep posting updates Ps. Loved the 5km run video as well
Great video Rob. I remember your original videos with Liam and really enjoyed them. There are a couple of different little nuances in this lesson which make me want to give this approach another try. As soon as it stops raining I'll be out on the practice ground with the towels! Keep up the good work.
Great video Rob.Good to see you two working together again. Lucky enough to spend a year on a monthly lesson support plan with Liam. Transformed my game until accident forced break from game Back on the towel drills again ! Keep the videos coming mate 👍🏻
Really good to see both of you back on the tube again i remember watching yer lesson with liam with the towel drill trying it in my garden firing the club thru my neighbours fence and getting a bollocking off the wife cos shed just washed the towels , i didnt stick with the towel drill but im finding my own way funnily enough working on loading the club with the caddie drag like liam was talking about its working well so far , stick in mate and enjoy your new found passion for the game.
Best way to do a lesson IMO. Outside on the grass, and time to work on things, instead of indoors to a virtual wall, and the guy clock watching for his next client coming in.
Amazing restults from just giving your body a 'task' i.e. hit the towel and letting your brain do the rest... 👍I guess it's a similar principal to hitting a tyre, which some coaches teach.
Love ya vids Rob. All of them. I watched the earlier golf ones but this one has really helped me. Maybe its timing (ie I'm ready). My swing fault is not the same as you but the philosophy of what we're trying to achieve - comments really help me understand. Thanks Rob for this journey. Thx Liam for sharing. Ps I always wondered how Liam had an Aussie coach (bc I'm in Melbourne).
Great video, love Liams step drills been doing the 1hand takeaway double step since September, ball striking on a diff level now. Just need a dry course. Let’s get you both to Remedy Oak in Dorset for a course Vlog!!
Rob, great video thanks for sharing. I most definitely need that towel drill, sequence and positions without thinking spot on. Beautiful timing and tempo. Little white ball comes into play and there is an hesitation, less freedom, a rigidity comes into the swing changing the timing and tempo so the sequencing and positions are not quite right. Great lesson on freedom and trust in trusting our bio-computer to move our bodies to execute without interference, can I get this into my head. We cause ourselves so much trouble looking to seek, control and be in charge. The crazy thing is, if you think what it takes to move the body to hit the ball, just how intricate it is to fire those muscles in the right sequence it is impossible for us to do. Yet foolishly we try.
Golf really has felt so unnatural to me, I think thats why the old 'find your natural golf swing vid' was so enticing but i think this is even closer to the sweet spot, atheltic and natural ideas but balanced with incredible swing knowledge behind it
Where can I find a coach like this? Great lesson with a coach who understands his craft. This type of instruction is just not available to me and that is a shame.
Hi Rob really liked the video going to try the drills, just a question on Liam app which one is it as mine isn't as clear on the positions it blurry with the shaft and face, thanks
Brilliant video, please keep them coming. The boy Robinson's backswing looks quite flat which seems to be the big no no currently with RUclips golf instructors, do you feel like it's flatter than the lesson you got from the other boy in the studio?? You look like you're striping it after the towel drill
Cheers and will do! Liam talks about that in this lesson - if you want it to be shallow, why make it steep to start with? Josh (the pro at RND) has a similar view on that (in my interpretation, at least!)
I like the drills he gave you. There are so many ways of thinking about the swing. When I saw you after the towel drill, I said no, he's too quick from the top still. But then he gave you the step in drill. It was obvious that your weight shift in your legs was not good. You are tall with probably not enough knee bend, maybe not enough bend at the waist. The swing should look like a ballroom dance routine. You look a bit stiff, like Frankenstein taking dance lessons. That is too harsh. But it tries to make a point
FWIW.... i was scratch short of my 16th....2 1/2 years later i was +2.8... here's the kicker.. from scratch to plus was 2 years of 5 hour days, everyday. Time is your enemy, not your skill level.

Great to see you reconnect with Liam.

Ha appreciate that but Liam is the one with the wisdom!

Right? I have a friend who has a beautiful practice swing that goes all straight to hell with a ball sitting there.
Feel is training your brain. Love it. 👍🏻

I’d forgotten how good the ‘towel’ drill is.
Went to do the towel drill in the garden when I heard “where’s all the fecking towels?!?” Coming from the bathroom window-
The missis was in the bath…
Thanks Liam and Rob. This immediately improved my golf. Ball striking is key.
That’s strong, sound golf instruction. Nice.
Nice to see you two back!!!
Wishing you all the best Rob!
Just subscribed after watching this! Love seeing good people doing well.
Brilliant lesson with Liam again Rob. Be really good to see you both out playing again.
Cheers mate, keep your eyes peeled Monday afternoon! 👍

This was nice
Hey dream team. Hope you’re well and now watching the vid. 👍👍
Ed's in the house! This all feels very 2018 doesn't it? 😂
Good to see you making vids again Rob...still got that new golf club set fund in the drawer mate....🤪
Cheers! Haha which drawer? 👀

Hes such a good teacher

Really detailed lesson Rob, Liam is not only a great coach but he looks like he’s your best mate too 👍 is that RND GC by any chance?
Sure is, great range on a summer's day!
Fantastic 👍👍
Most informative golf channel on RUclips 👏

I think Liam had just started coaching my mate BRT on the challenge Tour 👍 he should start his own RUclips channel 👍 he’s a good coach 💯

You could try Liam? 😎
Liam living dangerously with that phone battery 😂
Ha that's the kind of guy he is! 😂
What is the purpose of the towel Rob as opposed to just doing the drill and swinging thru? Thanks
All covered here mate: ruclips.net/video/7AK5HJb5bmU/видео.html

Thanks. Not sure what you mean about the app?
I'm afraid to try this in case it breaks my game for the season. 🤔
I am concerned that it’s only 11:44 a.m and Pro only has 4% battery left on his phone 😮
Ha that's how he rolls

@@RobMcGarr brilliant, makes sense, will definitely give it a try, I tend to get steep in the downswing which hinders my ball striking
Ben Hogan said “your backswing can never be too flat!”….. and he was ok!

Hi Rob just wondered which one it was ?
Just asked Liam and he says it's called OnForm
@RobMcGarr hi Rob thanks for that keep up the content you have a good swing to work with
Can you use an impact bag instead of a towel ?
For these ones I’d say yes but for some of the other drills a towel gives you more feedback than a smash bag 🤔
@@RobMcGarr thank you.
I thought as much as towel will grab and wrap around the club better.
Signed up for tgn. Never received a swing analysis though so prob cancel the subscription
I know he's been overwhelmed by the amount of requests but is getting back to everyone as soon as he can!
I wish he would coach me
