JOHN CARMICHAEL look up Harry Styles doing I think it's sledgehammer,he's did a first class job and sounds just like Peter in the song,it really is amazingly good,I think you'd really like it
Well, that used to be the norm, back in the days when musicians were still real musicians, not just a bunch of copy cats who try to sound like the stars on the radio. Those old guys ALL have their distinctive voices, those old bands all had their distinctive sound. You heard the first note and knew instantly who it was. Unlike today where everyone's just copying the same crap over and over.
@@angusseletto1511 Mr Styles did do a great version - he recorded his last album in Gabriel's studio - Though while it was really good, and he's a decent fella, it'll take a couple more decades to get the timbre in Gabriel's voice - I'm sure Styles will be about in a couple decades to do so though, he's a very capable artist, ^oo^
So incredibly hip! No one can pull this off but PG. One in a billion. I actually spent an afternoon with Peter Gabriel in L.A. once and also met him at a NAMM show where we walked the floor for a while just talking about music and new instruments and stuff. He is a very soft-spoken, reserved and polite gentleman, and one of the best song writers and performers of the 20th century, IMO.
I was 6 years old, I never understood how you could do all those beautiful magic sounds and harmonies and I was fascinated by that. Why harmonies and sounds can make you laugh or cry, feel good or bad... You, dear Peter, are the reason why I choose to make music. To understand all the magic behind. 40 years later, you are still so inspiring. Nowadays our little planet needs people like you... really. You’ve done so much already. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all this magic and stay safe.
I took my daughter to see Secret World Live when she was 6, she is still a huge fan. We have our tickets for i/o secured, 30th anniversary of her first PG, thankfully she can now get the beers in.
Great statement - Peter and the genesis boys were certainly one of my prime influences in diving into the real world of music as a drummer and Vocalist
My grandpa was murdered in 2002. This song resonates with me. Haunting and somehow helps me to heal after all these years. Peter has been my favorite musician since I was a teenager. 🙏🏻❤️
I've said it before and I'll say it again... to me, the 'trilogy' of So, Us, and Up is one of the greatest works of modern art... period. I never get tired of listening to those three albums, and I doubt I ever will. Peter Gabriel is truly an inspiration for me.
...agreed. But I think we'd be remiss, if we overlooked the "Security" album. For me, that was the game changer. Absolutely nothing in the rock genre was represented, YET?.... Everything on it rocked!....nothing was conventional or traditional....but your ears just KNEW it was ROCK magic!!
Lowest point of my life, buried my dad, then my mother. Crawling out, I saw Peter Gabriel live in Atlanta in the early 90's. It helped a lot, and was one of the best live performances I've ever witnessed.
I lost my sister last year, she took her own life, as Peter sang the words "don't leave us like this" I wept so hard. Love you Peter and thank you for this amazing beautiful song, stay well stay strong everyone.
God gave this man, Peter Gabriel, the gift of music, to really, musically, express the reality of our times, of what we feel. At times, we may feel down, tempted to go to a dark path. But listening to Gabriel's music, you regain hope again, and to once again move forward. Like another long from the So Album, with Kate Bush, that gives hope: DON'T GIVE UP
silvana menchetti I totally agree. He hasn’t got the range he used to have of course but I prefer the tone of it as he’s got older. I like the ‘huskiness’ it adds character 😊
Master musician. His work has severed as a road map in my life. He is a wayshower because he holds the light for those of us trying to make sense of this world.
Yes, you are right "TheGalera72"."No way out" is a good song. Peter Gabriel is the most complete, creative and inspired musical artist. That's why we're looking forward to his new album.
Very bittersweet. I hope you are healthy Peter Gabriel. Thank you for the music. Rest in Peace to all those who passed from the covid19. ✌🏽💔🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏽🙏🏻🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
He has all the samevmembers of his band for years and years. And they’re always smiling and happy that tells you a lot about Peter Gabriel and he’s a hell of a man he’s loyal, kind, sweet, and definitely a gem of a musician. What an amazing person.
Two musicians I could give another 60 years of life to..... Donald Feagan and Peter Gabriel. Their musical knowledge and love for life could educate a million more people....
Talented people, doing what they love, sharing it with the world. I love the song and, actually, I like this version a tad bit more than the original album version. Peter Gabriel and his collaborators -- number 1 each and every time. Plus the richness of the mix is mind boggling. It's amazing how a different set of monitors/speakers can pull out elements you haven't heard before. Just plain awesome.
I remember being 17 . I was getting ready to go out , when I heard "Don't give up " I just sat down hearing this message of love , I was in awe . What a beautiful person to give it up like that . Music !!!!!! I love this gift that keeps me going !
It might seem strange to say, Mr. Gabriel, but I trust you with my heart. This is heart-wrenchingly beautiful and goes to the core of my being. Up was 40 years after Melting Face, and your music is still some of the very best this world has to offer. Thank you for sharing this with the world.
Wow Hello Peter!!! Amazing Song!!!! Thank you so much for this!!! You are the best!! Stay safe and healthy dear! Many hugs from Sardinia, I love you!!! Cheers 🙋🌄🌈😉
Peter, Thank you for decades of medicine for my soul. My health is fading, but my love for my family, Nature, God and your music has never been stronger. I remember buying “Up” years ago (20)…and PGs tour in Houston. Having seen him in 1986 first row…it was just as thrilling. Not sure that I “got” all of the new songs. I can’t stop listening to “I Grieve” and this song. Absolutely amazing!

Peter, from those of us that have been students at the Gabriel Academy of Music for over four decades, we wish to thank you for being the best Headmaster ever and for always having the time to sit in with band and teach... To you and all those at your studio, thanks and joy be unto you all...
It doesn't matter what he sings, names from a telephone book, crap melody, whatever.... He always infuses soul and emotional meaning into everything he sings. That's a one in a million talent!
Oh my, Peter Gabriel giving his best rendition of how to interrupt how we REALLY might feel in words & music. Yes, I do shed a tear and want others to dance in the realization that there is so much more to everyone's perspective. I can only image how our son's (to someone private, not Peter Gabriel) perspectives have molded them, they needed you (Dad) and need you to be strong & purposeful; I am heartbroken, I just need you to be well & present. We all love you. Sorry, needed to try to reach someone in time and space. By the way, you were great when you were present, I loved the fact, you knew the names of trees & birds; you a lovable & valuable. Please wake up wherever you are.
Peter Gabriel est pour moi, le meilleur artiste au monde. Il est également entouré de très très bons musiciens. Bravo et merci à eux pour le bonheur qu'ils apportent.
My first gig: The Dome, Brighton, Genesis Selling England tour ('72?). Group of us lads trying to bunk in and Peter Gabriel emerges from a telephone box, autographs were sought, he was very amiable, he signed the left leg of my flared white jeans, I were so proud. Mum washed them the next day. That's showbiz.

here's to the man who never put out a bad song.
Nobody has faced their demons quite as fearlessly as Peter Gabriel. What an artistic legacy this man is leaving.
Good comment!
