  • Today we're back in Scrap Mechanic with Kosmo doing another piston challenge! In this challenge we figured we would explore the kicking potential of piston engines and see who can build a mechanism capable of delivering the strongest kick to a series of objects. Not only do these kicks have to be powerful they also have to be accurate!

I think a counterweighted spinner with more weight would have done better. But either way both did quite well!

If you went at a perfect 45 angle from the start, no matter how far it went you would always get a score of zero

    • @GummieI

Then again, if managine a perfect 45 degree, would be quite impressive in its own right, that I feel like that should almost give a bonus :D

would using kosmo's triple piston stack work for a stronger piston engine ( longer stroke, faster expansion, more expansion force)?

    • @JazzManhattan

Kan: I have an idea to do a kicking contest
Kosmo: ok I’ll build a foot that kicks
Kan: no i build a piston engine with a spinning hammer
Also kan: wait how did i lose
Kosmo: I think it’s how I built my creation .. it’s a foot that kicks
Kan: so the trick to win is to build an actual creation related to the title?
Kosmo: yes that is why I won
    Kan: oh ok
Also kan: (I don’t know how to build anything other than a piston engine)
Kosmo: (I wonder if kan only knows how to build piston engines?)

I see a problem measuring from the closest point to the line. If the "ball" is either balanced on the line or just alongside it, the score would be the same. Obviously the one balanced in the middle is better. Maybe you should have measured from the middle of the "ball".

Maybe a spinning piston machine you get sped up and then a clutch to release it all in one go onto the "ball" would've worked... maybe i'll try this and see how it does
Edit: I'm not mechanically savy enough to make this viable, but it did sorta work???

  • @Nevir202
    @Nevir202 Год назад

    MAJOR VIDEO SPOILERS!!!
I think this kAN's machine is borderline cheating given the rules, it doesn't particularly "kick" any more than a pitching machine really "pitches" and since it's more a lever on a flywheel, and all its power comes from the energy stored in said flywheel, it is only indirectly piston powered because it happens to be spun up with the piston motor, could have been just as easily been spun by a controller or motor.
TBH, glad kosmo won as he stuck closer to the assignment.
