The fact people are calling this good looking or saying "it'll grow on me" just proves that TSLA stock holders will lie and gaslight everyone. This car is simply the most uninspired bland design ever.
I think my favorite part of the new refreshed model 3/Y is that now they both have their own identities. Side profile still looks like an extended 3, but the front and rear of both vehicles are now unique and don’t look like a copy of each other. Excited to see these in person
I completely agree. The front looks too much like a Hyundai Kona EV now. The rear end looks... sort of random? The corners of the rears lights look like the old model but they just stretched the middle across into a light bar like every other company seems to be doing these days. Honestly I just think it's kinda boring. It looks okay but it already looks outdated. The Model 3 looked pretty unique for its time when it first came out. Now 8 years later, the designs for both models have gotten more generic. I feel like Tesla losing their edge in the ev market and the latest designs not being anything groundbreaking out special (besides the cybertruck I guess) isn't going to help. What would have been cool is if they made every model super angular like the cybertruck. That would have been way more exciting.
in my opinion i actually liked the older one, it was smooth and almost borrowed from Porsche. i feel these new headlights are much more sharp and don’t quite match the body of this car, like they just took them off the cyber truck
Love the rear. Front could be better. But it's geared as a family SUV, so it best to keep it simple like it is now than being too aggressive. Overall a great refresh. In love with the red, grey and silver options. Wished they had a green option though
Im the furthest thing from a Tesla fan, but I gotta admit, their designs are aging wonderfully. Like the Model S? All you gotta do is update the front and rear graphics, and the rest of the car the proportions and shape look super modern.
The original Model S was kinda inspired by Aston Martin with a long hood in the front so that would be a timeless design.. Even today the overall design looks nice just needs a few updates like a rear light bar and it would look good..
For the rear light bar it seems they used indirect lighting for the running light. The non-lit upside down L shape is probably the brake light, with the thinner horizontal bar below that the turn signal. The reverse lights are probably down in the bumper.
The p7 is a sedan, the Y is a crossover, not even the same vehicle type. Nevertheless, xpend took many cues from the Model 3 designed in 2016 and shown in '17. The front lightbar is the CyberTrucks design that was designed in 2018-19. So Tesla looks like Tesla, any others that look similar copied Tesla. While the Chinese have greatly improved on original design lately, they've always copied western companies.
@@flysinsoup More successful in what? Xpeng is literally bleeding money, and if they don’t get their act together within a couple of years, they would go under. Their situation is not unique, though; only two Chinese EV companies are actually profitable, while the rest are selling at a loss.
@@matthewpolasub1569 Yes. But honestly the design just doesn’t fit. It just looks like someone photoshopped it in 5 minutes. I can still hardly believe its real i was certain these were the rendering of an artist until I confirmed from multiple sources LOL
That rear looks like some genius production savings. When you put it side by side with the old one, the lower trunk panel is exactly the same until the light bar, so they could probably use the same press, even though it's a totally new rear look with the plate gone, the light bar and all
Did they illuminate the door handles? When I owned my Model Y, that was the most obvious engineering lapse. Same with the Model X. They are flush and invisible at night, leading to tons of hairline scratches all over the door.
Maybe order a model in another color that's not black to match the trim? If you like black, chrome wrapping the door handles will see them better (and save the paint from scratches).
I think the front indicators are the little slit inside the sides of the light bar. If it follows the new 3, the curved top piece of the taillight will be the indicators but I think those will end up being brake lights and the flat horizontal ones will be the indicators. The taillight bar works like cove lighting. The light is hidden in the bar and pointed at the body of the car so it reflects the light and that's what we're seeing.
First impressions, I liked (but not loved) it. Since then I've seen it next to the current version and it's lost a little cohesion, but certainly not bad. I'm not a huge fan of the cybercab and cybertruck lights, but this is the best implementation of that style to date. For me, the real win was them keeping the indicator stalk. Car companies have started taking the piss with there cost cutting BS, so glad they listened in this instance at least.
Porsche Macan EV is doing that "headlights in the bumper" design, and lights higher up in the hood are just DRL's. I dislike "Hot Take" videos but this was well thought out and I agree with many of your points. Good job. Thumbs up given.
I think it looks a little odd now that the y and 3 don’t have the same face. I think they should’ve either kept the highland 3’s headlights, or I suspect they’ll be “updating” the highlands headlights soon to match a little closer to the juniper. I’m a bit bored by it tbh
