sieve5 Regen braking would be my bet, he just needs to top off the battery. Probably has about 80-60% in the battery after the race so it charges pretty quick
there lipo cells...charge at 1-2c...not actually fast at all, you just need a beefy charger and PSU.
lipos are good for 1-5C charge on average some do 15C.
a 1C charge is 1 hour so a 1Ah battery would charge at 1A and an 100ah battery would take 1 hour but at 100A (size of battery has no effect on C rates u just need the power to charge them)
higher voltages take more wattage so a high voltage high Ah pack he's properly charging at multiple KilloWatts....hence the need for three phase power input.
Iv been using these battery's years in the RC hobby...lipos are a less stable version of what's inside ur phone and laptop but on steroids as handle a WAY higher discharge spec.
a Lion 18650 is good for a few Amps (high drains IMR a bit more)
Lipos are good for 100C+ discharge !! Sky's the limit...but less stable, heavier, less energy dense.

Explaining for Bruno: Probably Gas Racers doesnt like the comparing to e-racing when smoking beginners from their skill level. Iam with you Power cant be enough, but on a Racetrack you dont need 200kw. on a "small looking track" like this a 250ccm 2stroke 15 year old kid could smoke them all day long =)

Yeaaahh this is the exact question I had in my mind for many years since I met Ripperton and a few other guys they race together... there is another bike here in Australia that is powered with a 700 volts electric car drivetrain... stupidly fast, once, the petrol riders accepted to have the electric motorcycle starting from the last position and run for a few laps during s proper race and the 700v bike launched from the last position to 3rd before the first corner hahahaha it didn’t make to the first but it was just a few laps... I can’t find the video here but was hilarious
Their technology isn't advanced enough considering reliability and they would have to start a new production line. In the end it's pretty expensive too for the buyer and many driver just don't like the idea so not that many would buy one. That's why they don't build electric super bikes.
They are minting money by selling ICE bikes, when time changes and people accept electric they will.

OMG! That is brilliant!! Love it! And I love this camera guy in the video. I wish I had a friend like that with me at the races. Taking your idea one step further, what if it were required that each bike basically have a unique set of sounds, so that for instance, when brakes are applied, or under acceleration, or when leaned over pulling Gs, it'd make noises so that other riders would have a reasonable awareness of them? It is a basic safety issue, because otherwise a field of electric bikes are going to collide a lot, I'd wager. I'd want my bike to fart when decelerating, and quack like a duck in the turns, then belch out a Godzilla scream when accelerating. That's just off the top of my head, but imagine a field of otherwise silent machines all making unique sounds, and what the announcers could do with that? It'd be hilarious and fun! And obviously safer for the riders, assuming they don't laugh too hard and lose control of their own machines...

It was either meth orrrrr Doc Brown touched the bikes 1.21-gigawatt flux capacitor which shorted his circuits causing irreversible brain damage sending his mind back to 1955 leaving only the shell of a rambling mad man!....Poor fella

Hahaa this is a very interesting question... he still has the front brakes and these modified motors have massive magnets so when there turned OFF they’re hard to turn (motor cog). Danny spent 6 years building and racing this bike and he has been through a lot of weird stuff, once his pack got so hot in the middle of the race (too much POWEEEEEEEERRR) actually had a battery fire started.. (5 years ago) and he managed to stop the bike.
Regen is actually controlled by the motor controller, this bike has 2 controllers so chances of both controllers dying together are very odd.
Batteries don’t just die like that, you can tell that there’s something really wrong before it stops, it goes noticeably weaker and if you keep insisting and pushing they eventually die.. so you can actually stop the bike.

Okay, first thing... DC / brushed motors are a thing from the past... forget about them and focus all your energies on 3 phase motors. They’re brushless, silent (no brush noise), no maintenance required, more powerful, waaayyy better controllers, regen brakes (motor brake, charges the battery as you brake) feature available in nearly all 3 phase controllers.
Motor controllers, in this motorcycle there was two big motor controllers working together.

Wow! Really amazing machine the one thing I think I would miss terribly is the shifting even though it's a place errors can happen plus the added weight it contributes so much to the riding experience and it can set your skills apart and give you a chance to win if your shifting skills are more honed, I hope they bring in more electric vehicles with gears

Weight: this racing Electric R1 with that motor and massive battery pack is about 135kg total vs 199kg original Petrol R1... ohhh yeaaahhh!!!!

i have a 48v 1500w hub motor if i used it off the wheel doing transmission to wheel would i gain more torque? would the engine work lighter? thank you very much
Yeaahh, lots of people are actually building hub motors as a mid drive, massive torque as these motors are outrunners with very big diameter. chain or belt drive to the rear wheel. You can try many different sprocket ratios as well instead of having it fixed like the original hub motor. It should be a lot more efficient electrically as the motor is working easier “lighter”. There are some transmission losses by using chain or belt but you gain more than you lose. Also regen will be very strong
