  • In this HVACR Training Video, I show how to Calibrate the ST4 Fieldpiece Digital Temperature Meter along with the K-Type Bead and Clamp Temp Sensors that can be used. I show how to do this adjustment with ice water. The Temp Reader is Used for Checking Refrigerant Charges, Delta T, the Temp Rise Formula, as well as many other uses.

    Craig, what do you really think about the clamp type? I remember a video that you mentioned you don't like to use the clamp type but man using electrical tape I worry about getting the K type flat on the pipe. I was thinking about buying the feildpeice clamp for the Fluke (hoping it will work with the fluke). Also there was a video you did about stripping back the insulation on. the K type to get better contact...did you solder the two wires in the K type with silver solder we use for copper or solder for electronics ?

    I just bought this One do I have to calibrate this st4 out the box

    Are there ways to field adjust when your calibration gets messed up? Say I’m on out in the field and something happens to my calibration. Are there any tips on re adjusting when you don’t have ice water available 😆

    Would you recommend the ST4 over using JL3PC clamp? After reading instructions online, the JL3PC can be calibrated using the Job Link app. I'm looking for the most accurate method for checking subcooling. Bead style thermocouple vs clamp. Thanks.

    does the ST4 work with the large clamp TC48. as soon as i open the clamp is reads OL

    I have this meter and once calibrated it shows 15.5 F on T1-T2 but in fact either clamp is around 32.5F. Any idea what might cause this?

    So I am going to go out on a limb here and ask this: So once you re-adjust for the clamp, I assume that the ST4 does not remember each individually (ie: K-bead and Clamp sensor) and recall the correct adjustment once its plugged in? In other words, if you readjust for the clamp, you must readjust for the K Bead once its reinstalled? Thanks Ed

      Yes that is correct. Also you would notice a difference in T1 when you add something in T2 sometimes, depending upon what that is. That is why I find it is best to just keep the sensors you have on it after calibration. The tool is also inexpensive enough to where if someone wanted to use the clamps, they could just use an additional ST4 that uses the clamps. One thing is for sure though, technicians need to be able to use the bead sensors for a multitude of locations, thanks!

    I notice this is a bit of an older video, would you still recommend this tool for a dual temp guage or is there something better out now. Only thing I would like to see is both temps on the screen at the same time, but that is not a big deal. I like the calibration function, my old Fieldpiece doesn't have that.

      This still seems to be the only one that has those calibration screws which are needed.

    What’s the difference from this temp meter and the volt meter that comes with the temp meter feature on it? I would assume its better to use two different meters for different uses

      This one has two thermocouples, you’ll end up wanting a 4 channel eventually

    im looking a temperature meter to check egg incubators, im wondering the calibration in ice water should be made no matter if its going to be used on liquid or air? how regular should you calibrate it?

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  4 года назад +1

      That is correct, I check around once a month or so but it depends on how much you use it, thanks!

    Hi Serice Tech, I have a weil mclain he2, original problem was purge light blinking on occasion. Replaced pressure switch, no help, replaced module with model1013-200. Now I have a" limit closed blower powered" light flashing and the blower tries to start and then stops on and on. Replaced the blower assembly to no success, same thing third light blinking, blower tries to start in short bursts but never does. When I turn the power off at boiler for about 20 min and comeback and turn it on, It starts no problem and runs for hours until next time it happens, running out of parts to replace, if you or someone can shine some light on this brain buster I would appreciate, thanks in advance!!!!!

      Here is the installation manual for that unit. www.weil-mclain.com/sites/default/files/field-file/he-ii-manual_1.pdf - Is something wrong with how the exhaust pipe was installed? Check the tubes to the pressure switch and the connection to the inducer housing. That unit I believe has a pressure switch with a normally open and normally closed connection points. It is possible that something with the tubing or exhaust drafting is making the pressure switch closed when the boiler wants it to be open. I would look in that direction try to follow the 24v through the safety wiring and pressure switch, thanks
