This patch finally made me play the game for more than 30 minutes. So excited to see how the game keeps growing, so eager for the moment base building geta added in and I can make myself a cozy home in Bloom, in the middle of nowhere

Ryan, if u want a separate build, just copy your 4.0_preview folder then rename that one to hotfix, then u can have 2 builds and only need a small download
I cant speak for everyone but this patch has been amazing for me. Everything is instantly responsive, spawned directly in my hangar, npcs are an actual challenge now, weapon swapping is instantanious, desync in no longer existant, having a great time.
I am so happy to see people just... everywhere. Every time I land ANYWHERE, every time I take off-- someone else is leaving, coming, crashing-- it's beautiful.
What bothers me the most are inventory issues. Laggy, messy, items disappear, errors often appear when trading, and Pyro is full of new items to discover. I think that especially in contested zones it's a big problem.
I'm probably most excited with more players being able to play in one instance and forming their own play style extending on the medic, bounty hunter gameplay
I played last night had almost no issues, there is a strange bug if you expand an item inside the inventory it makes the entire inventory disappear but is fixable with a relog
Ive had nothing but problems since the 4.0 Preview came out. My ships getting stuck in the ship elevator, causing me to have to file multiple claims just to use a ship. Go to leave hangar, hangar opens to reveal another closed hangar door. Do hauling missions, except the cargo isnt always there. Black screen crashes often. Global chat working for 5 minutes then not working the rest of the time. Ship repair and refueling is super wonky. Click on landing and it acts like you dont need any fuel or anything. You have to keep clicking another tab and back to landing to eventually get the window to stay up long enough to click the refuel button. This has been nothing but a nightmare for me. Sure hope they fix this soon.
I had 3 non game breaking issues, rest was flawless: the QT marker bug, problems storing one of my ships, and after a server recovery mission markers were gone (but the missions very much active and working). All in Stanton. But it was butter smooth, plenty of players around, NPCs completely functional, missions working. I really enjoyed my time. Felt great to have a server crash right before I would arrive at my destination for a cargo mission, and after recovery ATC worked, the mission was on, and I could complete my contract.
Been stuck on Port Tressler for the last day and a half, since it won't let me spawn any ships in the hangar here. ASOP keeps giving me red-screen errors.
I played 4.0 Preview for a couple of hours this morning and it went Ok but there were some annoying things such as the VLM not working and no missions at all showing up in the mobiglass. Think I'll give it a couple of days before hopping back in.
I love how much smoother the game feels but a weird quirk is the door that goes from my Cutter's cargo hold into the hab area is very slow takes like 7 seconds for it to open. The rest of the doors instantly open so not really sure what that is about.
The game does feel much smoother to play. Unfortunately, the hotfix still did not allow me to QT to targets. It's hard to do anything when you can't QT lol. This morning, I switched the file name back to 4.0 preview and verified files. Then when I got into the game, it let me QT to my bunker mission. Hopefully, it keeps working.
They fixed an absolute butt ton of issues through the ptu cycle and pushed it to live to fix the ones they need a massive player base to find (and some of the ones that didn’t get reported before), but left up 3.24 to not enforce another possible 3.18 catastrophe. The frustration doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. Yes, my ursa was bouncy and at one point acted as if it was heavy as the sun, but man was the rest of that 4 hour session absolutely magnificent. It felt like I was playing an actual game. Looking forward to see this build get optimized.
Literally the only problems I've had with 4.0 have been hangar doors not opening properly and QT sending me towards the star instead of my actual destination. Both of those have been long standing bugs, the latter being one of the primary reasons I look forward to quantum boost.
Both QT and wormhole worked for me, sometimes QT did not engage switching back and forth always made it work, also sometimes QT would not get me to station but about 200 km away from it
I've had nothing but issues. Dying from drinking. Selected mission and no nav point, quantum not working.tried to jump to micro tech and ship quantemed in the opposite direction. Ship impounded when landing in my hanger. And that's just a few.
4.0 has been such a smooth experience so far for me. Server meshing has been such a big QOL that was sorely needed for many years. Has legit made me play consistently since 4.0 release as I'm enjoying Star Citizen way more now.
Quantum drive was bugged for me. I keep spawning in other people's hangers. I hear engine noises even though it is powered down. Sometimes, my ship keeps moving with pedal off the gas. My ship was even impound trying to land in my own hanger giving me a 5000 fine. And to top it off the only missions I've been able to complete reliably without bugs are hauling missions. Disappointed overall with the patch.
My experience with 4.0 so far... Start with $70,000 aUEC, Mine up to about 400,000 aUEC, but lose 50% of it to a black screen crash... So have $200,000... use the remaining $200,000 and try cargo hauling... get up to about $450,000 then lose about $300,000 to a cargo auto unload bug and end up with about $140,000ish... decide to try missions for bounty hunting and merc stuff but missions are bugged and borked... so, consider renting a prospector again to go mining but decide to just give commodity trading another try... get up to about $300,000 then lose 80% of a cargo load because only 18SCU out of 120scu actually transfers to the warehouse to sell... After selling it I now have about $75,000 aUEC... so in about I'm not sure 24 to 48 hours of gameplay spread over 10 days I am up $5,000 aUEC... I think I'm just going to go back to the casino playing black jack in my free time until this 4.0 update cooks a bit longer... better luck and less frustrating playing black jack at the casino drinking a beer...
If i try and fly i get out the seat and all the doors open and lights come one and landing gear.. then when i try and fly again the ships broke. Hopefully they'll have a fix soon.
I was so excited for Pyro. I've been a relatively new player, since 2022 summer. But this 4.0 patch is very unplayable. QT isn't working, Jumping to pyro booted me to Stanton star even though i went through the wormhole without crashing into the sides or anything. Perhaps I'll come back again to 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 once things are a bit stable.
The hotfix is a hot mess. In wanting to fix the QT targeting, they completely destroyed it. Now when you try to QT anywhere, it will take you somewhere random with no marker whatsoever. My mind is blown. I thought it was just me, but when I reverted to the preview version, people in global chat kept having the same problem, so, it's not just me.
I will say bunker missions are actually kind of easy now that the NPCs are responding. You shoot one in the front and the others all group up to you and you just mow them down right in the foyer. I didn't really even have a chance to try to press in, they more or less kept me confined there until I'd taken them all down.
I got into pyro, as soon as I spawned in had multiple server errors back to back, a total of four. Completely unplayable, then upon leaving the game, crashed to desktop, this is very annoying.
I can't even install the preview or hotfix. It throws out different errors every time. I managed to install the hot fix but I Uninstaller it later now I can't install that either. Weird.
Definitely looking forward to more contested zones. A friend and I decided to test one last night, and first try managed to explore our way all the way to the vault room in Checkpoint, kill 6-7 players to defend it, and made out with 2 comp boards and hundreds of thousands of UEC in ship components + drugs. Can’t wait to finish getting the ship reward!
Ive personally had zero issues. Servers running butter for me, no bugs in 8 hours ish. This was an amazing release in my opinion. I havent made my first jump, Im waiting for friends to be able to get in to make our first leap together, to make it feel like a real end to a chapter. Thank you for all that you do Mac, even the sad news you make enjoyable to hear...well maybe not enjoyable but definitely more palatable
i'M JUST EXCITED ABOUT GETTING DECENT FRAMERATES!!!! I've noticed much less desync in combat and smoother transitions between locations. Thanks for the great content! I've been a watcher for a long time but I just became a subscriber!
I had a rough time last night. Was doing the starter mercenary and bounty missions and just got screwed by the game constantly. I'm excited to see the stability of the game get to a point where I can actually just play it. Edit: Also forgot that I spent most of the day yesterday being completely unable to play due to a bug the night before, which left my character in the world and served me an infinite loading screen every time I attempted to login. Character reset only affected 3.24.3 character.
Cause I’ve been on night shift, when I’ve got round to playing it’s been pretty early in the morning so been fortunate with performance. However here’s some warnings 1. Crusader is one of the most unstable shards, Had more complaints across chats about it than anywhere else! 2. Courier missions are not present 3.Vaughn missions, only the first one popped up for me. Upon completion no others came up 4. Kleshers lifts are bugged. You will have to server hop to get out of jail to find working lifts 5. Crime stat doesn’t disappear when leaving jail. But part of the game says it has. So some have found getting a tresspassing crime stat then going to jail for it and then server hopping till you can get out of jail clears it completely 7. If your quantum won’t allow you to a space station, and sends you 800km out or more, jump to the nearest moon, then back to the space station. 8. Double check landing hangars, don’t land in 3rd person all the time, some hangars open and act like they are yours. They are not. You will get insta impounded as there will be a flash of a warning so approach in 3rd, as you go through doors go to 1st so you can bug out quick.
I love the stability that we saw on the ptu, the 3.24 live build crashes my pc every time I try to play it. Have not been able to play in months and I was able to play for hours in the ptu on 4.0 with only one crash
Repair, rearm, refuel not working. Hauling missions not working. Players trapped in hangars. Quantum not working correctly. Literally dozens of game breaking issues. It's a mess alright. Not sure what's glorious about it to be honest.
I only could play the the 4.0 for 1,5 hours so far beginning at 08:00am CET, but I had no issues in that timeframe. I was at Microtech and around Crusader and it's moons. Doing FPS and space combat. Server FPS was about 12 to 15. It was quite busy around hubs like spacestations. But the only issue I had was waiting a bit until it was my turn to fly in or out of the hangar until it was my turn in the queue. But I'm still excited about 4.0 preview. I played a bit in the EPTU as well but I feel more engaged now and want to do a bit of everything. Combat, hauling, mining, salavage will belong to my first activities.
Running missions is nearly impossible rn. fps count is good, servers are handling players ok mostly, but the services (atc, missions,..) seem to be overwhelmed regardless on what region I'm on.
Im most excited about the improved performance and increased player count. Pyro aside, the fact that we'll be able to play with steady 30 server FPS means a whole new game.
Thanks for keeping us informed in 2024. Thanks for your effort and commitment. Looking forward to gridning my way into 4.0 and starting from zero again.
I'm excited to see the packed environment of players together once server meshing hits full speed. When more player events like the Daymar Rally can be realized.
Oh boy... Would have to say I am most excited for the risk factor, while trying to live off grid in Pyro. Never know how it will go, even just heading to an open field to land and have a meal.
4.0 is more stable for me than 3.24. As an explorer at heart, I’m really looking forward to exploring the Pyro system and all the new points of interest. Absolutely stunning environments so far.
I jumped in this morning and log was instant, inventory was much quicker too. Definitely based on player numbers

I am so glad the servers are now more stable. There's still a lot of issues, but it feels so much more smooth than before.
The thing I'm most excited for in 4.0 is simply getting to use my cutlass black. (I'm relatively new and haven't had much chance to fly it yet.)😊
Of all my ships over the years my Cutlas Black has the most milage of them all because its so versatile and easy to use.
Been stuck on Port Tressler for the last day and a half, since it won't let me spawn any ships in the hangar here. ASOP keeps giving me red-screen errors.
Definitely based on player count. The 180 flip quantum issues have been my biggest problem.
This morning (Dec 21st) my QT still doesn’t work with the hotfix patch. can’t finish any of the starter missions sadly.
Go back to preview!
I'm really excited for better server fps. 4.0 did it but all the other thing like missions, elavators, server errors still happen constantly =(
If i try and fly i get out the seat and all the doors open and lights come one and landing gear.. then when i try and fly again the ships broke.
CIG's janitor must have made the HOTFIX
I will say bunker missions are actually kind of easy now that the NPCs are responding. You shoot one in the front and the others all group up to you and you just mow them down right in the foyer. I didn't really even have a chance to try to press in, they more or less kept me confined there until I'd taken them all down.
I got into pyro, as soon as I spawned in had multiple server errors back to back, a total of four. Completely unplayable, then upon leaving the game, crashed to desktop, this is very annoying.
In my experience, the quantum bug has only been when trying to fly from Orison to Seraphim. It's like it's calculating the orbital position wrong.
That's definitely not the case. It happens for lots of targets around ArcCorp as well and no doubt for more of the planets
The 4.0 live preview has been working amazingly for me from a performance standpoint. There has still been some bugs. Mostly with audio
Issue I've been having the most is QT either dying before it launches needing reboot or sends me the opposite direction
Right the QT dying luckily only needed off on switch
I can't even install the preview or hotfix. It throws out different errors every time. I managed to install the hot fix but I Uninstaller it later now I can't install that either. Weird.
Definitely looking forward to more contested zones. A friend and I decided to test one last night, and first try managed to explore our way all the way to the vault room in Checkpoint, kill 6-7 players to defend it, and made out with 2 comp boards and hundreds of thousands of UEC in ship components + drugs. Can’t wait to finish getting the ship reward!
في المستقبل البعيد وبفضل التكنولوجيا المتقدمة سوف يتساوى الخيال مع الواقع ويمتلك الإنسان قوى الآلهة ليحول الكون والأكوان المتعددة إلى جنة خالدة ❤
It’s either working surprisingly well for me or I get the weirdest door and inventory glitches
Wont even load for me, just stuck on infinite loading screen.
"Things are going goofy" is a very strange statement, but if you have played 4.0 it makes perfect sense😂
Easily one of the best SC/SQ42 channels on YT. Keep up.
I am loving the increased population. Everywhere I went I came across others exploring and having fun. The game truly feels alive.
I just can't wait to explore all of Pyro
the words "stable" and "star citizen" have never been able to be in the same sentence
i'M JUST EXCITED ABOUT GETTING DECENT FRAMERATES!!!! I've noticed much less desync in combat and smoother transitions between locations. Thanks for the great content! I've been a watcher for a long time but I just became a subscriber!
For me, the 4.0 Preview doenst work. All Mission i started ended in an Bug. Missions are broken for me.
how is the preview build the live build? actually curious cuz im waiting for a Live build not a preview
what version is everyone playing, as I still only have 3.24 Live.
Character reset only affected 3.24.3 character.
had problems with markers but after bedlogging out/in they started working again
Cause I’ve been on night shift, when I’ve got round to playing it’s been pretty early in the morning so been fortunate with performance. However here’s some warnings
1. Crusader is one of the most unstable shards,
Had more complaints across chats about it than anywhere else!
2. Courier missions are not present
3.Vaughn missions, only the first one popped up for me. Upon completion no others came up
4. Kleshers lifts are bugged. You will have to server hop to get out of jail to find working lifts
5. Crime stat doesn’t disappear when leaving jail. But part of the game says it has. So some have found getting a tresspassing crime stat then going to jail for it and then server hopping till you can get out of jail clears it completely
Just got my new pc. Hopefully, I will get it set up today and check out 4.0.
At this point contracts dont even show up for me anymore and comms aint popping up
Not many bugs in this build (Knock on wood) I only had some issues with elevators.
I played this afternoon (UK) and it’s still a bit of a mess with hangers doubling up.
Apparently, CIG liked the idea of having multiple versions. They will now create separate deployment for each little hotfix.
For 4.0. I was most excited for server meshing. Now I'm excited for a clean inventory.
I most excited for smooth server performance. Being able to engage in the gameplay loops available in a consistent way is going to be so much nicer.
Anyone else noticed that shards are top at 600 not 500? Mine last night was a 600 player shard. Still had a great time.
I'm looking forward to real persistence across both systems! Exploring how to make a life in 4.0 puts a fresh new spin on the whole experience
looking forward to fixing the 4.0 preview bugs. I experienced four hard crashes on launch day.
Most excited for that photo cloud option, looks so stunning and immersive!
Some issues here n there no missions showing, ship wont spawn, but im thinking its server struggling.
the q.t bug work around is pick a moon in line with the station q.t towards for a few secs then 180 around and route to station.
Thanks for keeping us informed in 2024. Thanks for your effort and commitment. Looking forward to gridning my way into 4.0 and starting from zero again.
Playing right after the patch dropped morning EU was an amazing experience. Excited to play more over the holidays if it's stable enough.
I'm excited to see the packed environment of players together once server meshing hits full speed. When more player events like the Daymar Rally can be realized.
What's the point of keeping 3.24.3 up when you will just be grinding for nothing and lose all your progress to a wipe
I am stuck on an infinite loading screen
