Probably one of the smoothest pitches, but the entrepreneur apparently backed out of the deal with Loti and it did not close! The product seems to be doing well and still in business but feel like an opportunity missed

but stuff like this already exists. I had a portable propane camping cooker that does the same exact thing and it weighs way less. I bought it at Decathlon. When people hike, they want light-weight equipment, not ghostbusters-esque contraptions.

yeah its crazy it is, just to see someone come in with a product they have made, some sales, starting at 10%. There is an insane amount of 3% of a "pre revenue" business, these days. Its not even like they HATED his value, in the way that often happens.

Dang!! I missed the boat. I've been making these for years for friends with about $60 worth of parts.
They didnt ask what is to stop anyone from making one of these DYI. You vould get all the parts at home depot. People are stupid to pay $200 for something he said cost him $24.
With inflation the way it is, the lower equity and 75 cents makes more sense if you truly believe your product will be succesful. That 75 cents isn't inflated over time, but the higher equity would be. The buying power of the dollar has halved since 1990, meaning that 75 cents would be more equivalent to 37 cents in the near future.

Can somebody explain to me how investors calculate in a royalty deal. Like "I want $X per unit until I recoup back my investment." How do they calculate $X?
I don't think that is calculated based on some formula of sales, profit or evaluation, it's just how much the entrepreneur is willing to give away on each sale
