Did he really? I have watched so many of these, but there might be some aspect that I don’t realize. I guess because of the goodwill thing? Because I have seen her deny many offers and business is business.
@@switchunboxing Yes, but typically offers are denied because they're not in her space or the valuation is bad or what-have-you. Since she made the offer already, she couldn't claim it's not in her space. If she denied the offer after he asked her to give up 5% *for a cat shelter* then she'd be saying that 5% of a small company is worth more to her than helping save cats. That's not a good look.
This is one of the strangest counter offers and am really surprised he got a deal with Lori (which I doubt closed).. he waited until the offers are out and then came out that he wants to give 10% of THEIR equity for Charity! If wanted to keep the promise, he could have reserved 10% for Charity and negotiated based on only 90% equity.. and Daymond's reaction at the end was priceless..
In summary : just give your own equity for charity instead asking the investor to share their equity.

He also wanted someone who was for the cause of the company which was to help cats. If a investor is willing to donate equity to charity and he matches then he gets someone he knows is invested more than just the equity willing to give it up.

Something a lot of people don't realize about Kevin is that he usually makes an offer in order to keep the show going, and to give a floor to the bidding. If he didn't make his bottom dollar offers, the guy would have never gotten an offer at all. Kevin represents the "public option," so to speak.

Such a weird plan to involve the charity aspect at the creation of a deal. Just negotiate down the equity, then give your own portion later when the company is big.

he probably didn’t intend on the shark giving their portion to charity it obviously wouldn’t make a difference in the end. He was baiting the sharks, into discovering wether or not they would give up a portion of their equity for cat charity and shelters. He wasn’t looking for the best buisiness man or women he was looking for the most emotionally involved shark.

@@adivg8402 The product sells for about $25 and has a profit margin of 20% which means there is a $5 profit per unit sold. A $2 royalty is essentially equivalent to 40% of all profits so really is like a 40% equity.

Yeah maybe, Lori has a really good track record for closing deals after the fact and Damon wasn’t happy with the charity-equity deal, so yeah he would be the best on good terms but after that he might just cancel after the show ends and it’s time to sign papers, Lori was the best chance of closing a deal

They did $6 Million in revenue in 2022 and $8.5 Million in 2023... The sharks definitely lost out on this because the deal never ended up closing between him and Lori.

This is the one issue of Shark Tank, cut throat business men & women doing something they would almost never do because they are on television. It makes me appreciate Kevin because in most situations he doesn't care and is going to make the offer that's best for him. I doubt Lori would do this deal if it wasn't going to be on TV, I'm curious to see if this deal went through.
