That note. Yes, Alex has jazz training. 😄
Occasionally they’re human
@@yar9333 Only occasionally.
I know these guys were actually human, and I'm sure made a mistake every so often because of it. But even after all the live performances I've seen from this band, that last note of Alex's solo is the first obvious mistake I've ever heard from them. But it also reminds me of the quote, "A wrong note played timidly is a wrong note. A wrong note played with authority is an interpretation."
They had dinner reservations after the show
Alex did an oops.
Presto has some hidden gems on it this is one of them. My favorite off Presto is Show Don’t Tell.
A seriously great song!
Geddy must have left his stage shoes in the van again. “Pete, have you seen a black bag… ?”
"All of us get lost in the darkness; dreamers learn to steer by the stars..." That's one of Neil's lyrics that really stand out for me.
Same here.
It's an Oscar wilde quote innit?
@@rumourhats not verbatim, no.
Probably my favorite song from Presto. Presto is such an underappreciated and unfairly maligned album. The song writing was so good. Not the best Rush album but definitely not the worst (Hold your Fire).
The "Don't slam the door on me" line is so powerful. And "Christ what have you done" just give me chills. I as a chaplain have seen and ministered to way o many families of people whose loved one committed suicide.
The sound i the video makes it hard to review their performance. I probably still prefer the album version which is rare for me. I usually like the live versions better. But it seems very solid.
Oh and Justin, You are not Geddy. He is Geddy Lee and he can do whatever he wants!! ;)
Love this one!! Favorite for the lyric lovers!! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
Presto easily my fave post-Signals album!
My backyard, Jones Beach. I WAS THERE!!! Great place to see concerts, outside and looking out at the Atlantic Ocean....
Bum note from Alex there tut tut
Yeah this really didn't sound too clean
lol. I had to come back the next day just to confirm "Bad Alex! No biscuit!". That was soooo baaaaad....
Silver lining... The only way you will ever get an Alex rookie mistake, is through an un-curated vid just like this one....😁
What was the mistake?
I can always rip and post anything you need from these concert DVDs.
It has to be asked... when Alex makes a rookie mistake, is Geddy a close enough friend to say "what the hell was that rookie mistake?", or does he go for the indirect Canadian passive/agressive comment in some form? 🤔😁 PS. Japanese manners are very similar to Canada in that way (if I'm understanding Canadian culture correctly...), But I'm guessing it's "what the hell was that rookie mistake??" 😆
The latter. I mean, both were members of the Order of Canada by that point!
@@SnowDogisVictorious OK thanx. Color me schooled 😁. You are Canadian, right?

The hair tied back might have been a concession to playing outdoors in the summer. Sweat issues.
I've never really liked this one.
ouch.
people seriously give you shit about your hair? jeeeeezus. Anyway, I loved this song only because it was a simpler song I could always play 🙂. You were right...Alex messed up which is a bit odd. so far a great show/album. I saw this one live and it was awesome, but in our local hockey arena, the sound blew chunks..lots of distortion. Still, I really enjoyed the strings and new stuff I have to admit...sorry
Nice work digging this up! Serious dedication!\
Is it just me, or does Geddy sound better even though the audio isn't as good? Even muffled to my ear his voice comes across as being stronger (you can clearly hear the enunciation).
Alex missed a note. You always hear them talking about those moments it's actually kind of cool to see one.
I have a collection of screw-ups from various tours. Some of them are pretty funny. “Yes, they ARE human, folks!” 😄
I’ve sat front row for about a dozen shows or so. It’s cool to have been close but it’s not the best spot to hear a show!!! Sitting this close you could actually hear Neil’s sticks hitting the drum skins. 30th row is probably best and doesn’t cost a grand per ticket. Did it many times lol.
La Villa was last played and “retired” on Time Machine. It also wasn’t played on the Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Counterparts, Test for Echo, R30 or Snakes and Arrows tours.
Oh, I wanted to see this at Jones Beach but had no chance of getting away from the family.
Jones Beach! I was at that show with my son and nephew.
That might be the most obvious playing mistake I’ve ever heard them make live…
Ah, you have much to hear! 😂 They have been involved in some serious trainwrecks.
Gotta say, the guy made a pretty good video for a fan video. Usually they suck pretty bad IMO. Too bad Alex hit the wrong note on that night lol
Really like this song. Always have. Some of Alex’s melodic lines during the solo reminded me of Shawn Lane.
I'm pretty sure the "pill" screen is actually the big screen with just the "pill" part showing.
That footage is from Time Machine tour not clockwork Angels
Ummmm.. no. They didn't play The Pass on Time Machine Tour... also the stage setup...
i thought the same, justin, this is not the clockwork version, check on the bonus track,maybe???@@JustinPanariello
@@rickthestiks9240their clockwork angles tour took place 2012-13, time machine was 2010-11, this video was uploaded in 2013 and the title says the exact date and location he was at
well, i got the dvd,and its not the same version, that one was filming whit a potato, l.o.l@@lipusesfarquadian5808
Yes its not from the same concert. But it's from the same tour. Its the one I found on YT that was the best quality.
A cool little thing about this tour’s version of The Pass-
Geddy’s bass is tuned to drop D. You can really hear it in the official audio version of the Clockwork Angels Tour.
The second part of the pre-chorus you can see him hit the first fret of the 4th string (E flat) . Adds a bit of heaviness.
Forgot to mention the studio version was in standard tuning!
People made a big deal out of you tying your hair back? Sounds like your subscribers would hate me cuz I've always got the same thing going on at home lol. It's just so nice to get it out of the way. Never for a gig, but its also essential in the studio lol
When I had long hair the ponytail was easiest at work. Eventually though I just had to cut it off. The end of an era. Never did the manbun, thank ghods...
Not a fan of Presto at all, but I have always liked this song. For a fan in the stands video, other than the sound quality, it's not bad, pretty well done.
I've never been a huge fan of this song (nice job, Alex! 😆), but I agree that Presto is a better album than many make it out to be. I'd rank it ahead of HYF and RTB, and about on par with T4E, VP and S&A.
These extras are on the Blu-ray in superb quality…this song is a lot like Bravado, in its simplicity and vibe, so it’s a REALLY REALLY good song, lyrically, musically and emotionally.🤘🖖✌️🎸🎤🥁🎹
Here’s another example of a song that didn’t catch my interest until I saw it live, first on the Presto tour
I’m a Presto fan and can get critical after that…. But keep it close in my top few. It was also out at an important life changing event so that always comes into play (regardless of musical criticism).
What I love about this song, is it’s just bass, drums, guitar and vocals.
it has a little mellotronish melody tho at 2:12
And some ethereal keyboard sounds in background
I was at this show pretty much right behind where this video was recorded from. And of course, I have a story. My wife and I are in the fourth row there in front of Geddy. After a short intermission, the guys come back on stage and throw T shirts to the crowd. Neil actually used some sort of cannon to shoot the shirts out, but Geddy and Alex would just toss them. I’m sure she had grown tired of my constant whining about never catching a T shirt. I had come close a few times, but just never got one. So Geddy makes this underhanded toss that is to my left and into the aisle. Before I can even think about going for it, I see my wife run into the aisle like a gazelle. Bless her heart, she hip checks some other chick going for it, grabs it, and brings it to me! It’s a picture of Geddy with a fake Afro on a black T. My favorite shirt in the whole world.
