I can't believe their record company chose Mystic Rhythms as a single and not this - it's ridiculously catchy. The band should've chosen their own singles!

It's apparent here how much Geddy's voice is struggling. Nonetheless a good tune overall

Can't even rewatch, just skipping to the end for Justin's comments.
Why didn't Ged just relax, he sings like his balls are on fire

I always loved that song from Power Windows. "Some world views are spacious, and some are merely spaced". What a great lyric! Musically and lyrically it's a very engaging song. That concert really was one for the Power Windows fans. It was such a surprise to hear so much of Power Windows again. I had always stopped reading about Rush on the internet when a concert was coming up because I wanted to be surprised by the setlist. It really was a treat and great surprise to hear so many of those great songs pop up.

My favorite Rush song, and their most important song since it contains the key to existence in its esoteric lyrics.

My favorite song on Power Windows. I blasted this album/cd in the car today. Now here, Justin is reacting to the Live version. I'm glad to see so many in the comments Love this song.

As much of a banger Big Money was for album opener, this song actually shows it up. There's so much greatness here. First it's the quintessential song of Rush absorbing all that happened in the 80s. The thin, clean delayed harmonics heavy guitar (a la The Edge, Andy Summers, and the 80s guitar sound they defined), the synth arpeggios doubling as melody lines that could have come straight out of an Erasure or New Order song, Geddy's anthematic vocalizing in the last section that could have come out of a Simple Minds tune. Socially conscious thoughtful lyrics but not overtly in your face preachy.
    It's all there!
And yet, still the strong stamp of Rush all over it. They added the playful rhythmic elements peppered all over the wall of sound, and you just wouldn't get from any other band of the era.

I'm not a big Power Windows guy, but I would love to be there for Territories. Love the deep Grace cut The Body Electric also.

My initial favorite from PoW when this was released and was happy to see this song and my now favorite of Middletown Dreams be swapped in on this tour...I think vocals on PoW are among Geddys best and very challenging to replicate this late in the game

Most rush fans i know when they say they don't like the 80's they are talking about Presto, Hold Your fire, and Roll the bones. Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures are 80's records as well and everyone loves those.

As I've said before, I was at this show and it was bad-ass! I am from Dallas and have seen every tour since Moving Pictures! I love Power Windows and have to say that Grand Designs and Middletown Dreams are the best cuts! Great setlist!!!

I have always loved this song. so glad I got to see this one live. And his voice coach was trying to keep him in the higher pitch. Seems like later (R30and final concert) he had a different voice coach. Sounded more "even" and not so warbled, if that makes sense. great job JP keep it up.

I would not say any of these 80’s songs on this tour are “ultra rare” since they’ve were all played previously on the Power Windows or GUP yours. But I believe that the Clockwork Angels tour was the first time they played them since the tour they were originally released for. It was so cool to hear Grand Designs again. Love that song. The live version here is not nearly as good as the studio version but I’ll take it. Glad they went for these deeper cuts.

They must have tested a ton of songs to see which would translate best to this kind of more straight hard rock sound. They kept the most important sequenced bits and synth parts, but they didn't tinker much with the guitar or bass sounds. Although given how much control musicians had over their sound by this time they could have made a Les Paul and Jazz bass sound pretty much like anything.

I may be wrong, but I thought they were switching Manhattan Project with Red Sector A or some other song during the second set as there was an orchestra playing with them. And in the first set there was a Bravado/ The Pass switch.

I was pretty surprised at the deep cuts they had in the first set when I saw this tour. The crowd around me did not seem into it at all but I was loving it. There were definitely a lot of kids in the crowd at this point and they were expecting hits the whole night.

I am a Power Windows fan and it was great to see them play this live so many years later. I thought Rush did a very good job of hitting a good variety of songs (even though it made for a lot of long evenings for them on stage during the later years).

With a extensive catalog of material(roughly 158 songs)playing 30+ that’s just shy of the 1/5 mark🤯GOOD GOD that’s a lot of songs. Now considering how well they mix it up tour to tour, I think OVER the course of this bands career, I’m sure they’ve played nearly 90% of their material live in concert at one point or another. Give me ONE other band who’s managed to do that.🤘🖖✌️

    • @neilens1589
      @neilens1589 Год назад +1

From what I have found, Rush played 128 out of their 164 album tracks (not including covers or BU2B2) live at least once. That's about 78% which is still pretty good considering how much material they had to choose from after the 80s 👍.

One of my faves from one of my favorite albums. I will say that it's clear Geddy was struggling with this vocally. I cringe every time he sings "against the run of the mill" here. I'm actually surprised they didn't doctor those parts a bit. But otherwise the performance absolutely smoked. I was so happy when they rolled all these 80's era songs out for this tour. Cheers!
