I was the saddest boy in the room when I saw kit fisto being so easily disposed of. I loved the The Cestus Deception book at the time and Kit Fisto was my favorite jedi from that era. When I saw Mace WIndu and Kit Fisto entering the room, I thought "ok, the timeline must change, George Lucas made a big surprise, the Jedi will win this after all, there is no way Palpatine can deal with all these bad boys together". The horror of seeing him dying (with an horrible sound) like if it was nothing :-(
Yes. Kit Fisto was not affected by the howl, - a Sith flash-bang grenade of sorts - because he was up with Mace Windu and Master Yoda with Force Mastery. However, he was not as skilled in lightsaber combat, hence, Palpatine cut him down soon.

The best he could would have been to use stunt doubles and clever camera work, rather than expecting Ian McDiarmid to perform a demanding chorography sequence without any preparation and then cutting it when that proved impossible. Lucas made many mistakes, and this sequence was definitely one of them.
Why not use motion capture. It was already a thing in 2005. Im sure creating cgi models for the two couldn't be too hard. Im probably not correct entirely but like seriously.@@SarSaraneth

If an expert could somehow mix this with the official footage, and then edit it so that it looks like it's actually the characters and background in the movie, that would be epic.
I seriously don't understand why they didn't keep it this way. Even in the final film, Ian is only in the closeup shots, so there's no reason they couldn't have.
The “close up shots” break up the pacing and it’s the exact reasoning WHY they didn’t use the stun doubles. Lucas changed it to the real life actors doing the stunts at the last minute on the day of shooting because he wanted a “personal close ups” of the actor’s faces. Lucas shouldn’t have done that as some of the real actors aren’t well suited for these stunts and choreograph, they were going to use actual stun doubles that was going to have the actor’s likeness CGIed on top of them, like Count Dooku always is when he fights.
The part where Palpatine had his saber pointed at Windu and he blocked it with the force makes SO much more sense than the dramatized pause we got in the movie.
The face that Mace Windu was able to not just Keep up, but instantly return a counter attacks, made his loss that much more devastating. A truly gifted, possibly Divine, Jedi.
Makes me wish we had that extra footage of Boba Fett's fight at the sarlacc in Jedi. Apparently Luke and him would have had more fight screen time. Chewie would have gotten shot. And bobas hand got cut off by Luke as well as having damaged his jetpack from a slash. Which apparently weakened it enough for han's accidental back jab.
Imagine if this the one that was been used in the movie? That would be more epic and awesome, it will give us a lot of lightsaber fights that the once that we have
ROTS is my favorite star wars movie, but even I admit the test footage shows off 100x better than what the finished product tried to convey. The speed from the test footage was the main thing missing from the film, which would've made the fight so much better since it would've conveyed the skill of the Jedi masters while also showing the unmatched ferocity of Sidious' style.

This version makes more sense too since Palpatine’s swordsmanship was supposed to rival Yoda’s dueling skills because of the brutal training Darth Plagueis put him through. See him press and even overwhelm Mace Windu is the version I wanted to see.

It's way more intimidating to have the whole sequence be in wide shot and have the camera tilt into a dutch angle to show how twisted the betrayal really was. Closeups were a mistake.
Close ups were not a mistake as they hid the sloppy last minute choreography from Ian. same thing happened in the Kenobi vs Grievous fight. There's tons of close ups and you can't really see what's happening to hide the fact that the technology wasn't there yet to do it properly

Something that will always baffle me is why a. Mace didnt inform all the jedi and take as many as he could with him and b. If not that juat wait for yoda to get back and then tag team. I get that there is plot armor, but it still kind of confuses me why they did it this way.
He took the best Jedi that were with him on hand, and sometimes having more Jedi with you who are not sufficiently skilled can actually be a handicap because the inferior Jedi can become a liability that "gets in the way" of the masters. This is what happened when 5 Jedi dueled Darth Bane and Darth Zannah on Tython. Also Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, and Agen Kolar had worked together on missions before as a squad, so they were experienced at coordinating with one another.
@@Cyfiero He should’ve atleast brought Shaak Ti. She is arguably the second greatest force user in the council behind Yoda at this point and they needed force mastery to fully balance out this fight. There’s no excuse as she’s literally in the temple at the time this happened. She also has more experience with Palpatine than anyone else on the council because she was directly in Palpatine’s presence on many occasions throughout the clone wars I have to say, he didn’t bring the best Jedi on hand. As Shaak Ti is most likely better than Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar in my opinion.
My guess is either the door to another room they were approaching or he reached to force throw something at Windu via CGI but the move didn’t make it into the final cut
George decided last minute that Ian Mcdiarmid to do the fight himself. Which resulted in a awkward mess of a fight that's 50% composed of quick cuts and close ups to hide the slow and awkward choreography

He should’ve atleast brought Shaak Ti. She is arguably the second greatest force user in the council behind Yoda at this point and they needed force mastery to fully balance out this fight.
There’s no excuse as she’s literally in the temple at the time this happened.
She also has more experience with Palpatine than anyone else on the council because she was directly in Palpatine’s presence on many occasions throughout the clone wars
I have to say, he didn’t bring the best Jedi on hand. As Shaak Ti is most likely better than Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar in my opinion.

My guess is either the door to another room they were approaching or he reached to force throw something at Windu via CGI but the move didn’t make it into the final cut
Why they make this one and the dooku fight so much worse than how good it could have been?
George decided last minute that Ian Mcdiarmid to do the fight himself. Which resulted in a awkward mess of a fight that's 50% composed of quick cuts and close ups to hide the slow and awkward choreography
