- I think we ALL have to update our sims 4 game to keep playing. There's a mandatory update and if you don't have it, your game won't launch from 10th June. Make sure to back up your important files before updating!!

I didn't even know we could play Sims 4 offline. It always told me I have to play online
you have to login once and then can go offline. you only need online to access the gallery
No not true, I was able to play offline, but now I can’t! Idk why!
tbf the ea app is buggy as hell and like i said in the video, doesn’t work as well as origin anyway bc you weirdly constantly have to login anyway? it’s bizarre and completely defeats the object. but when i tried offline it worked as well as i expect from elyse ea app but everyone’s is always different just bc of how buggy it is and has been for years. it’s so annoying
Same here although I did turn Origin off once (I’m on Mac) and it kept trying to pop up to open back online, so I gave up. Now, apparently Mac has to use the EA app??? I guess I need to see if it’s working (I haven’t played for over a month) and maybe if I could just stick with Origin I’d be so happy!!

Thank you for clearing this up!! I was so nervous that I wasn’t going to be able to access my game and have been logging on everyday to make sure there’s not another update I need in order to play 😭 I was scared I wouldn’t be able to play at all after the 10th
That mandatory update is actually a non-issue for me because I always strive to have my OS, all of my programs, applications and games up to date.
That «update your game» popup should NOT show up if your game IS up to date. That's poor design and poor implementation.
I agree with you that pop up should not be there if your game is up to date. I am the same way about keeping programs etc updated.

Yes, that's why it's so confusing. I spent 2 days updating the game (kept running into issues), and when I was finally able to play I got this pop up.
This makes me feel better, bc I've been panicking that I keep getting that popup without seeing a way to update it.

Yeah I saw people arguing it's EA saying you must do the battle pass or never ever play and they'll do this for Rene.
I know the EA app uses servers but I don't know how this works. I'm only certain they're trying to clean up the servers so telling people to update will clean up space. I didn't think this could be related to the directX stuff. I'm not surprised the community responded this way. Everything EA does is deemed wrong.

@@seand.g423 Yeah, I'm usually an EA defender when it comes to Sims 4, but the recent save file corruption bugs and forcing you to play online/update your game is just clear bs.
@@fynnh5459I’m not trying to be rude but how is it bs for you to have to update your game? People will complain about the ea app and sims not working properly (as they should) but then get mad when they do have an update to try and fix it. I don’t understand. It seems like people just want to be angry no matter the scenario. (Again genuinely not trying to be rude, just trying to understand/have a conversation about it.)
@@simmerscrossing It's the same reason they keep getting bugs that aren't actually in the game, and blaming EA for refusing to fix them.
They don't want to update/remove their mods. When they update the game, it obviously breaks every mod. Then you are left waiting for the mod 'dev' to update their mod before it will work again.
They do not wish to play without the mods, not even temporarily, and they refuse to consider that their outdated mods coupled an outdated base game may cause lots of problems.
@@wickywickyjoka That is so wild. I play with mcc and ui cheats. It's super easy to just wait a little bit for the mod creators to fix them up. Like... they can go play a different game in the meantime? It's gonna be okay😂

Given that I cannot open the game til I update, it was very confusing to get that message after 2 days of trying to get the update to actually work (especially as I was under the impression it was a tiny update, did not appreciate having to try everything under the sun to be able to open the Sims 4 game at all.

You don't need to update again. It's just that the message don't know that your game is up to date. Little harmless bug.

yeah that’s just a little emergency patch to fix the loophole with people being able to get all the timed items due to an exploit and for direct 11x issues

I'm a mac player and we can't launch our game until we do the latest update(there's even no button to launch it)
I updated and now none of the cheats work. The cheat bar won't pop up and none of the hotkeys work as they should.

I’m having such an issue rn with the sims. I had a last exception error and the final straw was me not able to click on other sims to interact. I’m not really sure if this is related or where this comes from in general, but I can’t go online even though I have wifi. This is before and after I removed all my mods.
I last played on June 9th and now it is having me redownload the game???

I sincerely appreciate someone who loves and supports the game relaying this information to us rather than having to watch a video put out by one of the hater channels that seem to jump on any information released by EA and put a negative slant on it. So glad you’re on, the same side as those of us that love the game!
I updated before June 10th and it’s not loading for me
open your task manager, sort alphabetically, right click on ea app and close task and then also end the ea background services tasks. it could potentially be the same issue i’ve been having for about 3 months

So what happens if your game isn't updated by then? Is everything deleted or just unplayable I'm confused?
no. everything literally stays the same, it’s just when you go to launch it after the 10th, you’ll get a popup or something (most likely) or your game just won’t start. that’s when you’ll need to update before it allows you to play. all files etc will still be on your pc

I mean, I've had Library-only loads before (indeed, _long_ before), but it loaded with full access yesterday, so... the timing was a mite concerning.
Aaand.. I just got run clear tf back through the TOS page, which reset my """"happy""" at home rewards" bullshit clear back to the dartboard for day 1...

yeah you can only play without updating if you play offline so honestly not that different for a lot of us who are used to updating every time
I sent an upset message to EA about this years ago, and about a year later simply stopped playing if my internet was on. Still have origin, and hopefully will have a few more years before I need to change computers and download anything new again. Not looking forward several of the updates that'll be forced on me at that time.
I think if EA workes with frogware they make a great sherlock holmes expansion pack with his most iconic outfits and all of the pipes he smokes as accessories. Do you guys agree with me? If you agree with please like and relpy.

Older versions have been incompatible since they switched to ea app, they didn't allow you to start up a game without updating.

I had this. I un-installed the EA app and reinstalled it and it worked again
Check if it's still there. I've had some instances when it got an update, IF I click «update now», it will not update itself but uninstall itself without removing it's icon.
Start The Sims4, EA app tell you it need updating itself, you click OK, after a small delay, The Sims4 launch, but complains that it can't find Origin, leaving only with the option of quitting.
If you can no longer find the EA app files, you need to download a fresh copy and reinstall. Launch the EA app. Enter your login information and things should be back to normal.
i’ve had this issue a lot. open your task manager, sort alphabetically, find ea and ea background services and end both of those tasks. try opening it again and it should work

no worries at all! it does it as well when you just try to load sims straight from desktop, it just gets stuck in preparing game but this fixes that too! glad i could help get it sorted for you ☺️
My EA app will not load I click on it and it's just a white screen so I don't know how I'm going to be able to update the game

You must be. Unless you don't have auto updates set.
The last update was the patch fix that rolled out two days ago, if you got that one you should be fine.

@@pluralprincess6171 it did. Highly recommend not updating if you dont have to. My game was perfectly fine before update. even after removing all mods and cc , repairing, reinstall and everything its beyond buggy and so not worth it.
I play this through Steam and i did not even know i could play this offline. so how do i do that then? oh btw i update all the time cause i play online :) So no worries then pffffff .Thank you :)

Since the update I can't even launch the game. I can open EA fine. Click play and nothing happens. As of today I can click the game but I get the "game is already running" error every time. Its most definitely not running. I've tried all of the solutions I've seen online and I'm so mad I cant enjoy my day off the way I've been planning to all week. WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS.
I don't know if this will help but I've had the same issue. I had to manually close the EA app because even when I closed it, it was still running in the background, which made my pc think I'm still running a game. It's been annoying, but once I've started doing that, I was able to start game again. I hope it's the same issue & it works out for you. All the best😊
@@neafinnila6961 yeah, usually the fix for this issue is to use task manager to close the ea app as well as the "ea background service." it worries me op said they've tried every fix and nothing has worked!
I always click update I actually have it set to suto update. I mean seriously you wouldn't wait to update your computer right? At least that is how it is in our family. We just do the update because what if they had to put out an emergency patch or update then what is the likeliness of that that update gets screwed up because we didn't update the previous update?
mods is mostly the reason people don’t update. OR if they know there’s big issues other people are having. i reckon a lot have held of updating since the for rent pre patch and buying that bc they saw how many people’s game were affected my it

Sadly I did lost everything.I'm a mac user and I have got a message saying: update sims4, instead it reinstalled the games and now my ea folder is COMPLETELY empty, no single submap or anything in there :( I have lost my games and have no idea how to reinstal the mods

yep it just pops up for everyone as a warning. if there’s no update button then you’re good. i think auto updates are set from the go when installing ea app. i just turn them off so i have chance to backup my files before it starts downloading

Anyone else get this scrolling glitch where whenever you scroll through things like build mode, other worlds, or even sim inventory? I’m on console and I’ve been experiencing this issue recently, idk if it’s just me tho.
Never got that message. I remeber the update though, since installing it made the game crash on launch. I guess that was intended since you were supposed to launch it once, seems to work fine now. Well, until the next time ea app decides to uninstall itself and delete my games from my account again, seems to happen every other week.
With the recent changes (shopping cart, exploiting FOMO with the log in events,...) I wonder if it is really about EAApp maintenance and not some other plans.
I think the initial announcement was very confusing, not worded clearly. They had to clearly state that people can update after June 10, just that the update is mandatory after June 10. Let's hope we can play offline again afterwards. I like to wait a week or so before updating to update mods and recently to avoid game breaking updates as well.
The pop up only showed up after I was on the latest patch. Showing this warning to people who are up to date with patches just adds to the confusion.
I play on a Mac Book Air M1 2020 and don't have many issues at all. My only issue I'm having currently is black squares under my sims feet. If anyone knows how to fix please let me know. ❤
I got the pop-up two days ago. It only took a couple of minutes to do the update.
Haven't played for years and dont even have the ea app installed. So if Iwant tomplay in the future it going to be interesting. I know that I can update whenever but it still going to be instresting if the ea app would even install at all.
I play on console and some of the towns won’t load at all, like oasis springs and San myshuno. My game is updated. Really frustrating idk what to do.

yes i been busy for 2 weeks so i couldn't play..i logged on and saw it and i panicked....that was weird don't no why i felt overwhelmed lol....i updated thankfully lol...i cant wait till they release were we all can play together...i no i didnt hear wrong? i heard there creating a world that will be in all our sims when we open the game and choose worlds...there will be like a online worl were we all can play with eachothers sims..but we can only have 1 favorite sim living in that world......plzzzzz tell me im not wrong? fingers cross they are

that probably means you’re already up to date. it’ll only have update now if you need to. the popup shows no matter what in game

i play a lot of games. but i mean its one of the very few times sims has done this so yes, it is unusual for this specific game which i dedicate a lot of videos to on my channel
Literally came here to say this! Like, it's just an update people, chill out. Imagine if fans from every game community freaked out over major game updates.
sims patches have introduced some awful bugs. whilst yes other games get updates frequently, they don’t usually make the game “unplayable” for as many people, as frequently as sims does. i think this is an odd energy to bring when we know the patches aren’t always reliable and happen way more for sims than most other games. that’s even without taking into account the amount of mods people have
@@zoejune9360 I've been a gamer for 20 years. You can't possibly compare other games to Sims 4 when it comes to updates aka how destructive they can be and how slow the fixes are rolled out. Plus, with most other games, you can at least launch them directly from their folder without an Internet connection if you actually don't want to update them yet...
I feel so lucky to play on console in moments like this hahah🫠
