Just as a warning to people - if you have community votes turned off, you will still get a notification saying something has won the vote but don’t worry, it won’t actually enact anything!
Love Eco too. Another NAP that I hate the side effect of is the Gardening one where random sims will harvest your plants as well as watering and weeding them so I have to keep my plants behind a fence with the gate locked for my household only 😂
I tried Eco Lifestyle out while they had the free demo. EVERYTHING was broken. I couldn’t mail the things I made as a freelancer, candle supplies cost more than the final candles, the fabricator broke 90% of the time my sim tried to use it, and the aspiration goal of convincing people to vote for something was impossible outside of the Eco Lifestyle world, which I’d moved out of because there was nothing interactable in the neighborhood and almost no sims walking around so it looked like some sort of post-apocalyptic mysteriously abandoned city and I was bored out of my mind with my sim just waiting around their tiny apartment for the next time they got hungry and had something to do in cooking.
i wish we had MORE option for NAP i find them genuinly fun same with the neightborhood lot added i'm just anoyed that we don't have enought lot to put one everywhere :( however i am annoyed at the extremely low energy production and water production ! especially with how ugly the water recuperator is, why can't we have a roof one? or more swatches cause it's so annoying
I absolutely love Eco Lifestyle too! I think it is one of if not the most underrated pack in The Sims 4! I love the chaos it brings and how it affects all sims and all neighborhoods.
Personally I find NAPs pretty easy to navigate around and i think it leads to kind of an interesting unique flavor to every new game I do as a family. I really enjoy eco lifestyle. Mostly for trying the eco parts but specifically because I like attempting sustainability. I do WISH sims team updated so more things had eco impact so you didn't get stuck with the same things but I also do like that most of the build items in the game are eco neutral if that makes sense... I do find I tend to use the individual items of the pack more than evergreen harbor but I do love that industrial area in the center. The apartments frustrate me and I don't know how to work that other area.
this reminds me that i have to get the water conservation repealed in my current neighborhood lmao he has a fountain and keeps getting fines for his water usage
Thank you so much for explaining why everyone is walking around with those dang lumps of clay! I assume there's a similar reason for those future cubes. I always rip those out of my Sim's inventory when they show up. I despise them. I do love Eco Lifestyle though. It's one of my favorite EP's. There are about four - six N.A.P.'s that I find I can tolerate and just repeat those. The rest are just annoying. Thanks for explaining the side effects of them. I wasn't playing TS4 when EL launched so it's great getting a little more intel.
Whenever I want to build the Herbalism skill, I turn on the Self-Sufficiency NAP so that the sims will start and then stop those cure things because going to Granite Falls for the ingredients just isn't all that interesting to me most of the time. I think I may have been one of the people who pointed out that particular NAP to you in the Nightmare Legacy challenge. BTW: I am also a huge fan of Eco Lifestyle.
I completely love Eco Lifestyle! All the hobbies and eco living are so good, also the BB items! However, the NAPs are definitely my least favorite feature.
Thanks for posting this. Is this why everyone and their kids and elders doing press ups all the darn time. I will have to turn this off I had the cake one happen and the ball of clay thing also. 😊
Eco Lifestyle was trying to be cheeky and beloved, people were super hopeful for it because it had a lot of great ideas, but then it also brought some genuinely broken code with it. Before For Rent, there was Eco Lifestyle. I'm sure at some point people will look back on For Rent the same way but the random errors will be just as mildly dangerous if they ever get out of control again. (For Rent even brought back the white cakes problem for rental neighbors without the NAP applied.)
I enjoy eco lifestyle gameplay a lot. But I also usually lock doors for everyone but my sims, so I didn't even encounter most of these issues. 😅 Is it also a NAP that makes everyone have a future cube and constantly playing with it?
I honestly wish NAPS were just restricted to evergreen harbor. In my rotation I have a family there so I don't want to turn them on and off between family hopping through different worlds and I kinda wanna try working with them. So I am trying out leaving them on and just being aware of voting. I do like the transformable community space buildings in Eco Lifestyle. Those are cool. I wish more lot types used this feature. Like how the HSY Auditorium transforms with different events which uses a similar mechanic.
I played a lot with Eco Lifestyle and Cottage Living and my sims were just overworked. Then I turned off the local plans and things got a bit better. It seems weird to me, that if I place a lamp on a lot, I need to place 5 windmils to even out the usage and production of energy. Almost all my sims juicefizz. It has become somewhat glitchy, especialy on community lots. If a lot is including juicefizz, when the lot is downloaded, the machine always need to be replaced to work. Almost all my sims love Jeb Harris. Bess is weird, but most of my sims can avoid her. I used to love Tina Tinker, but find her boring today.
NAP's are one of the worst features of the sims. Even when I turn them off they still happen (as they were auto turned on when I got the pack), and sharing is caring destroys my public lots. I have to manually set all NAPs for every neighborhood MANUALLY! I love everything about eco lifestyle, but this feature alone is why I don't recommend it. I am glad someone is talking about this lol.
im doing not so berry 2 and my sim is living in evergreen harbor rn in the same neighborhood as the tinkers and everything is so glitched. like the sidewalks and scenery it is just constantly moving and bad graphics and it makes my head hurt sometimes but i am trying to brave it out. i think because we switched from industrial to green neighborhood everything in the surroundings has been glitchy.
Wait I don’t have eco lifestyle but I do have For Rent and I experienced my tenants coming into my home (we lived in townhome style on the same lot) every morning and one would always bake a white cake! I eventually moved my family into a separate lot to get away! 😭😭😂😂
Thank you! That was very helpfull! I like the pack very much, since I need it for my rags to rich and for my crafter challenges. And I also often use Knox as a boyfriend and/or babydaddy. But I didnt know so deeply about the mechanics of the pack. You explained that very well. 👋
Haven't got around to getting Eco-Lifestyle yet, but I'm now sure if I do get it, I'm disabling the NAPs. They just sound far too wacky. What is most frustrating though is that it sounds like there is a core idea there that would be interesting, like being able to vote for things like faster fire engine response time that also raised taxes on your lot. A much more grounded version would be a cool way to have a political career in the Sims that actually meant something.
I think I might love eco lifestyle, because just like you I love hobbies and crafting and that whole vibe, but everytime it's on sale and I consider buying it I end up buying something else instead. :D I am just too worried about having to micomanage these NAPs. I'm sure I'll get it eventually though, since there are not that many packs left that I'm interested in.
I literally uninstalled my entire game so I could reinstall without eco lifestyle because of NAPs. I didn’t even back anything up - I just went scorched earth and started over. That’s how much I hate them 🤣
I love this pack. I think this one started the mindset of assuming it's a bug when it could be a feature. That to this point, the community has no idea if it's a feature they don't like that there declaring a bug or it's actually a bug. Which I never dealt with the hated N.A.Ps it's true the foodie one needs a little tweaking. Sims should be making any food. Free food for our Sims. 😆 Sharing is caring wasn't a problem for me but definitely shouldn't be counting the community lots. Sure it's a version of theft but when the lot can't function without items and I don't think that's the flaw. In my rags to riches save, it seems no Sim is picking these N.A.PS what a shame. I need to fix this. In
Yeah, I think they might've messed up the list of recipes the Sims can pull from since Sims who grill food at random because they want to cook is much more varied... or perhaps it has something to do with the level of cooking skill the Sim in question has. Either way I think they tried to fix it before, might've had it fixed once, and then it broke again when For Rent came out because Sims living in multiple rentals with shared access to a kitchen will cook nothing but white cakes too! Edit: They still grill other foods but only bake white cakes when they have an oven available. Second edit: this was with NAPs turned off or people who didn't even have the pack I think. I still don't have For Rent myself so I'm just remembering youtubers and bug threads on the EA forums. Third edit: on an unrelated note, also from watching youtubers, I remember there was a problem with the ones that generate lumps of clay and future cubes because when people would swap Sims or just check a previously unplayed Sim in a NAP zone for either, the Sims would have a STACK of either or both objects in their inventories when played for the first time/again. Also there's some glitch where the aurora from making a neighborhood super green and sustainable would multiply infinitely above the residential lot and ruin frame rates.
😂 After the update my entire game broke.. I had to even uninstall & re install the EA app and then reinstall the game because I cleared refreshed my game cache files...
Just as a warning to people - if you have community votes turned off, you will still get a notification saying something has won the vote but don’t worry, it won’t actually enact anything!
NAPs are hilarious chaos, but probably shouldn't be on by default unless you live in Evergreen Harbor
Thanks so much! Eco Lifestyle is my favorite pack too. This video is so informative. Thanks for sharing! ^__^
Eco Lifestyle is one of my favorite packs, too, but yea, I had to turn NAPs off, and control them manually, because they got so annoying.
Love Eco too. Another NAP that I hate the side effect of is the Gardening one where random sims will harvest your plants as well as watering and weeding them so I have to keep my plants behind a fence with the gate locked for my household only 😂
If you make a gardening club the same happens too. They'll harvest your plants. 🥲
I hate this. I lock my money and crystal trees to keep them out and added a fence to deter as many of them as possible.
I recently went to visit the Moonwood Collective and the amount of herbalism ointments around their barbecue was jaw-dropping 😂
i wish we had MORE option for NAP i find them genuinly fun same with the neightborhood lot added i'm just anoyed that we don't have enought lot to put one everywhere :(

Eco Lifestyle is my favorite, too! I love that you can make your neighborhood beautiful and sustainable.
Personally I find NAPs pretty easy to navigate around and i think it leads to kind of an interesting unique flavor to every new game I do as a family. I really enjoy eco lifestyle. My favorite pack as well. I love the CHAOS of NAPs. Thanks for making this video - I think so many simmers are confused about these and what they do.
In half my games, the water was always turned off, it was always the water being turned off
Thank you so much for explaining why everyone is walking around with those dang lumps of clay! I assume there's a similar reason for those future cubes. future cubes is part of the tech lover one i think!
Whenever I want to build the Herbalism skill, I turn on the Self-Sufficiency NAP so that the sims will start and then stop those cure things because going to Granite Falls for the ingredients just isn't all that interesting to me most of the time. omg now I also know why they are making white cakes over and over… 😅
I got eco lifestyle in the sale the other day and I’ve been wondering why my sims family members keep baking white cakes when they come over 😂😂😂😂
This video cleared up so much for me😮 Thank you so much!
Thanks for posting this. Is this why everyone and their kids and elders doing press ups all the darn time. I will have to turn this off I had the cake one happen and the ball of clay thing also. 😊
tbf the press-ups are kinda bad themselves anyway bc of the energized moodlet but this also doesn’t help
I mean I don't even hate N.A.Ps. I will always pick Juiced Community because years later I I still think it's funny.
Eco Lifestyle was trying to be cheeky and beloved, people were super hopeful for it because it had a lot of great ideas, but then it also brought some genuinely broken code with it. the white cake one is probably the most frustrating part and the herbal things but still a good pack otherwise lol
I enjoy eco lifestyle gameplay a lot.
But I also usually lock doors for everyone but my sims, so I didn't even encounter most of these issues. 😅
Is it also a NAP that makes everyone have a future cube and constantly playing with it?
I love Eco Lifestyle, but I always turn NAPs off in every save.. they were fun for a few weeks when the pack first dropped, but after.. no
I Love Eco Lifestyle, BUT, I Hate NAPs!!! I Needed This Video!!! Thank you =)
I noticed quite a few townies have been walking in the nude lately in the neighborhood I've been playing in a lot. Is that a feature or a bug?
I honestly wish NAPS were just restricted to evergreen harbor. I always have NPC voting disabled. It always feels bad when a neighborhood action plan inconveniences you.
This was SUPER helpful! I didn't know that the N.A.P.s were the reason for any of this!
Oh my goddess. Thank you so much. I was getting so frustrated with how many damn white cakes I was having to get rid of 😩
I love this pack. My fav.❤

The white cake thing was driving me crazy… thank you

eco lifestyle was my first expansion pack, LOVE IT

The bags over the head annoy me! But not much else. If I don’t want to deal with it, I turn the feature off in the gameplay settings.
This solves so many issues I've had with townies!! I couldn't have a grill because of there herbal stuff!
I think I might love eco lifestyle, because just like you I love hobbies and crafting and that whole vibe, but everytime it's on sale and I consider buying it I end up buying something else instead. :D I am just too worried about having to micomanage these NAPs. @@DoveJS yeah, that needs to be tweaked.
Sim sees the oven in the house and makes anything. Give my sims free food.
@@AutobotSimmer Exactly! Especially since sometimes they don't even finish the cakes.
@@AutobotSimmer also lol sorry I didn't see you'd responded before I started editing my comment or I would've said more separate
omg really? thats why there's 14 potions near my grill?
I always lock my grills behind fences lol
NAPs dont bother me, cause I always turn it off...
😂 After the update my entire game broke.. I had to even uninstall & re install the EA app and then reinstall the game because I cleared refreshed my game cache files...
Literally my fave as well!
Eco Ifestyle is my favorite pack!
This explains sooo much 😅
It’s also one of my favorites!
@deligracy OMG this is why so many white cakes in tiny town !! 😂❤
Not to be dramatic or anything, but this video changed my life. 😂
Thanks and Happy Pride Month. 🏳️🌈❤🏳️⚧️
Mind, blown,.
SO THAT WHAT MAKE EVERYONE DAZE 😡😡😡
the rough housing one could also be doing it as well as sims are likely to get dazed in fights
