- Well after the news that Sims 4 is gonna be the mainline title for the franchise for still many more years to come, it looks like the sims team are drafting up ideas for new twists on expansion packs for the future! There's a survey floating around where 9 new expansion pack ideas are listed and simmers get to have their say on which they most like the sound of! Don't forget to have your say!

The ocean one? Yeah that's what we wanted with Island Living. That's where we should have had mermaids in. Hidden mermaid Atlantis style castle lot. That's the dream we missed out on.
I feel like crime city and cyberpunk city could be woven together into one pack.

That would be logical. A dystopian police state would also make for a fun challenge.
I voted for the crime city but wrote an essay of warnings. They have to be careful not to stereotype certain countries/cultures with crime like mafia. Also we already have the criminal career and the kleptomaniac trait so it has to be something new
This is also quite interesting because of what they’re not mentioning. What about bands, hotels, fairies and hobbies, which are highly requested themes by the community? Could it be that they’re already working on them and we’ll see this within the next two years, and afterwards we’ll start to see some of the ideas mentioned in this survey? Also, this may be too hopeful, but wouldn’t it make sense if we got cars as a base game update before vans?
I think that's totally it. These types of packs take years to create, so none of these would be coming out anytime soon. I do think we'll see fairies, bands, and hotels over the next little while.
I think they are working on hotels, fairies, and bands possibly for next year, as they are most likely making the packs for next year already! I think we could see some of these ideas over the next few years after 2025!
The retro one is the only one I’m interested in, because I’d like to have arcade gameplay and lot type without cc.
i want arcaaaaades and malls and rollerblading but i don’t care for a throwback pack at all 😭
I would love to see a circus pack. The one rug in the new kit has circus animals so maybe it's a possibility? They would have to be careful with not being insensitive though. Freak shows were messed up. Maybe just new skills like tightrope walking, sword swallowing, juggling, contortionists and trapeze? I could picture a lot of new deaths with this as well. Also new animals would be cool.
I don’t think it’s likely because circuses in the past exploited people to make them side shows and mistreated animals, so they aren’t very popular anymore. Similar problem with zoos. But maybe an animal reserve, or acrobatic stage shows and magic shows could work.
Would LOVE a circus pack, since I'm a contortionist and aerialist. There are so many circus skills they could bring in without using anything bad like freak shows or animal abuse. Cirque Du Soleil style. It could bring more depth to the clowns in the game too haha. And it could even have a "traveling" theme
I was pretty interested in the royalty pack but missed the fact it said "modern" monarchy, I almost started over but then decided just to tell them why it wasn't interested afterwords. other big wants were the apocalyptic and the 80/90s ones. being able to make malls and arcades would be great, plus the potential throwback jobs and I imagine some way of disabling the cell phone.
The criminal one and the retro one interested me the most
I'm most interested in the retro mall back, I love that vibe and after reading the extra description given for it it sounded so cute and good for more family gameplay for most ages! And I love me some family game play and van life was my second favourite, I agree the kids camp away some how feels already done!

I thought that mall pack idea sounded like a good pack to get a lot of activities to do for your sims, and I love the potential of finally getting the option to combine several lot types (although they don't mention it)! I also like it for the sims 1-3 nostalgia... the old jobs, different/less technology,...
I was waiting to hear your thoughts on this survey, we both picked the same top two themes! I really liked seeing how packs in the past have been adapted and evolved from their initial briefs and will eagerly await (for quite a while!) how some of these packs will turn out :)

I'm soooo disinterested in that monarchy idea, I hate classism... why would I want this in my game 🥹 I'd gladly miss out on this if this became a real pack. I might get tempted by the build/buy options though 😆 edit: if it's modern luxury though... probably not
I was most interested in the same packs, van life and post apocalypse. The most interesting thing about the van one to me though was expansion of elder gameplay. Agree with you about the life stages though; they should be including content for all life stages in every expansion.
I want to run an actual orphanage! Also a theme park world to vacation in could be very nicely paired with hotels!
I like the idea of more generational gameplay in the Van expansion esp for elders to take kids with them, but not clear how the travelling would work or if that would interest me tbh. I’m a rotational family gameplayer and like making neighbourhoods and swapping families. I also like the survival one just for my lot challenges lol but not enough to buy a stand alone game (sounds a little like strangerville with a set story) . Kids gameplay I would love, not keen on the kids leaving their families though. The retro one sounds nice like nice activities but not sure what new gameplay if any itd add. Honestly think they need to fix the packs they have released out (ie refresh get to work and island living, high school expansions and they’ve covered some of these ‘new’ pack ideas)
i took a look when i checked the news and there might be 9 expansion pack coming indeed
i wished you could vote for 3 things instead of 2
but my top 3 are: the ocean/beach pack, children camping pack and the van one based on elders pack
some people will argue it should be in certain packs but i think 2 or 3 of the expansion pack ideas should be in a spin-off one (like castaway for examble but differently of course)
i do agree the ocean/beach one idea should be in island living but i don't think they're gonna do a refresh but i'm happy for an another beach world
(i used to build lots of them in The Sims 2 game and i used to create lots of beach worlds back then)
we only have Sulani, Tartosa and Tomarang as beach worlds, i need more of them

Originally I picked the same ones as you. But with the more info I thought the retro pack, Ocean pack, and camp pack were ones I would also like. I think a lot of simmers want a more techno free experience and would love newspapers, home phones, etc. With the camp one it mentioned hobbies and that's my #2 want for the sims. I also think an ocean world had a lot of things simmers want but will be divisive since all that could have come with island living.
I don't think your opinions are unpopular opinions? As a royal family player, I would love the modern monarchy pack, and I know there's a whole community for it. But I'm pretty sure it's still a niche thing. Funnily I use sooo many mods that a lot of those pack ideas are already available partly in mods in my mind. I just wanted to say: in that survey they especially said MODERN monarchy. So it would definitely not be like Sims Medieval and also, I think a lot "historic sims" player wouldn't want that.
In general it's always great to have your opinion because though I love watching your gameplay and your cas videos, I'm more of a builder and play rotationally with a lot of cheats so different from you. 😂 Just a great video as usual!
looooool i saw royalty and was like NO and stopped reading apparently 😂 that option is currently in first on the sims community poll though! i deffo think a lotttt of sims 4 players want royalty

A caste system would be fun as hell. Not only are you leveling up your house but your social standing as well. I'd be so interested

Same here! I got an error page and then when I tried to refresh it said I had completed the survey when I hadn't fully completed it. Very disappointing not being able to partake in the interest of the expansion packs.
I can’t lie I studied zoology in uni so I went for the adventurous exploration & ocean life bc I’m hoping so hard for island & jungle adventure updates😭 I just want to explore and help conservation😭🤣

I also picked the travel van one. And I picked modern monarchy. But I feel like we will get both of those anyway because there are a gazillion car and royalty hints in the game lol.

tbh nothing really interested me... i saw on twitter the other day that throwback pack with malls might include multi purpose lots. and thats like my biggest wish rn for the game.

A safari expansion pack with the ability to create zoos and be a zookeeper centered in African culture. It’s long overdue.

The van life sounds really fun but I agree, how would it work? I'd love a mechanic career! I voted for the 80s/90s world and the Van Life. Malls would be really fun and the careers + landline phone! I love.
I voted camping and dystopian. Grit without violence is fun for me!

An Apocalyptic survival based world would be great as a stand alone multiplayer game.
However, I’ve said this a couple times now about this survey: I would love to live in a van down by the river, next door to my brother who lives underwater in an apocalyptic world. 😂
It would basically be sims 2 castaway but in a different setting
Now I was a bit reluctant because I was afraid they’d make it multiplayer 😂
To me the Create a world tool has the highest priority. Sims 4 struggles a lot with a lack of cross pack feautures, which also includes features limited to certain worlds. With CAW we can finally tailor everything to our needs in custom worlds.
I have wanted Hotels and Royalty in Sims4 so a very long time. But, many of the ideas looked fun and I would be interested in seeing how they would work in-game.
I would love to get a mall expansion if only we’re able to build the malls ourselves, I get that would be super complicated but I wouldn’t mind a Sims 3 Late Night or a Roaring Heights type of shell buildings where we can customize inside, I’ll be down with choosing which stores there will be in it and maybe popping in an indoor pool with some fountains and a food court, it sounds so much more exciting if we have the option to customize it ourselves
I voted for the 80s pack with malls as we dont have anything like that and the summer camp as I want more childrens actvities even if it is a similar concept to what we have now. I also like the van life one too, if we get cars and motorcycles too!
If they do that apocalyptic pack it would probably be similar to Batu.
I understand that this is like here are things we think could be fun in concept. I think my problem with these ideas (all of them), unless they are gated off from the standard experience, is they interfere with (my) conception of what the sims is "supposed" to be which is a Life Sim game, there are a lot of basic things that are missing from the game that people experience from real life (tattoo parlors, salons, etc), that I would rather have them working on instead of like Underwater Atlantis world, with the new occult type Atlantean.
All of these concepts seem like Standalone Games rather than expansions and I think that is what they will feel like...shabby and lacking depth.
I definitely agree in regards to the cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, and monarchy ones, for sure. I like the idea of the coastal ones because of the idea of houseboats and updated fishing and possibly scuba diving. Not interested at all if it's about building underwater cities and the like. I think the others could work in the game for the most part.
I actually love the idea of sims going to camp. I have fond memories as a child. I was extra excited in the expanded description to see camp myths and discovering creatures. Gives cryptid vibes and I would be so excited for that
Tried to state in the survey that I'd love an Arctic Circle pack. Nunavutian/Greenlandic environments and culture would be a change of pace, and would work well with my Anarteq custom packs.
Failing that, the cyberpunk one would really help my Swappernetters packs out. Without a cyberpunk dystopia for the Chrome Kite to rule, the Frontliners and Sneakernet Resistance are pointless.
I picked Crime and Monarchy, but commented that I wasn’t convinced they could pull it off😂
I personally chose the kids camp pack and the travelling van pack. I am a console player, so I can't do mods and cc. I'm not into occult gameplay or apocalyptic or futuristic gameplay either. So those were the ones that caught my interest the most. I am very curious to see which pack they eventually release.
I voted the Van life and the ocean life with the house boats. I would looove to live on a house boat and do boat parties with my Sims 😍 I also think hotels would fit well into this one. And the Van life is just such a cute dream life, would love to drive with my self built van with the whole family in it and stop at lakes, beaches, forest, mountains for a night or two, cook outside, sleep under the stars, and then move to the next place and really enjoy nature and my cute van 😍
I’m interested in a monarchy pack, because the way they built the reputation and fame system is great and if we’re going to see similar mechanics I think it would be interesting to see
I did the survey. I like the fantasy stuff so the monarchy pack would interest me. Apolocitic would be interesting just not my cup of tea.

@recordtapesbackward i tend to use the monarchy mod to play sometimes in Amazon challenge or even in just regular game play. Gentry, middle class to just see where my characters fall in that level. it is a real thing sure but imagining what you could have in the game is fantasy enough for me.
