You just saved me a minimum $165 repair charge! The Bolts on one of the KD brackets on the back of my sofa recliner worked themselves loose from the wood frame over time. Knowing how to take the back off helped me get a better look at the problem and both bolts were just sitting near the bottom of the seat. I reattached the bolts and slipped the bracket back on the ears and voila! Good as new! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Very glad it was helpful for you!
thank you for this! my wife has been asking me to move our giant reclining sofa to a different room through a narrow door way. i didn't think it was doable until i saw your video!
Thanks for watching !
Just properly put a wonky back onto a recliner that's been annoying the family for ages with your help. Thanks for this.
Glad it helped!
Oh geez! I had wrestled my recliner in total frustration. Your video made it super easy! Thank you so much!
Thank for watching! Glad it was helpful!
Wow, you made it so simple. Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Much appreciated
My pleasure!
I'm another believer in this video. It made my removing of the back so simple. A huge THANK YOU!
So glad it helped, thanks!
You made this so simple. There is no one other. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and the encouragement!
YOU ARE GREAT DEMONSTRATOR. THANKS. I'M 73 AND WAS ABLE TO FIX THE BACK OF MY RECLINER AFTER IT PARTIALLY DISCONNECTED.
Thank You! I’m so glad it helped!
Thank you! After watching 5 videos yours is the only one that clearly showed the mechanism, and the hammer technique. Success!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the video on removing the back of recliner! I have to return a recent purchase, disassemble and pack in box. (NOT your product) I am an older lady. The tip on pushing it over and using the rubber mallet absolutely saved the day! I could do it easily. I so appreciate your help!
So glad to hear this video is helping people like yourself. Thank you for the feedback!
Nice close up of how the KD snaps in. Good lighting and clear to see. Good job.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and support
I am so happy I came across this video. I don’t know how long I tried to remove the back of the chair and couldn’t figure out how to release the mechanism. Very well explained!! Thank you so very much. God bless!!
Thank you for watching! Glad it was of value!
So helpful, thorough and clear. Thank You!!! We just moved and the movers got the wrong back on each of our chairs. One is bigger than the other.
Thanks for watching!
I wish I had seen this before I had to figure it out on my own. Costco should include a link to this video for every power recliner they sell. This is the knowledge that would stop negative reviews.
That would be a great idea! Someone should let them know ;)
thank you for showing this so simply
You are so welcome!
Excellent demonstration. 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you! 👍
Again, thank you for dispelling the mystery of moving the recliners.
Haha! Thanks for watching
Been looking all around for this - this is a great close up of how to do it. brilliant 10/10
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for your right to the point solution of how to assemble & disassemble the recliner. You saved me about $400.00. All the best to you and yours.
Signed - a very grateful “all thumbs” person when it comes to wrenches & screw drivers.
Thanks for watching and the encouragement!
This video helped me a lot. I got this chair brand new from American Furniture and within A couple of years it started to fall apart so I opened the back and could see that one of the bolts had come loose so I took several wrenches to see if I could tighten it up, that didn't work so I tried hex keys and that didn't work, so I was really in a stump. Then I saw this video and it showed me how to remove the back and it was easy sailing from there, I also discovered that all the screws were coming out, so I tightened them all, thanks again.
Glad it helped!!
dude. its 6am and wayfair is delivering my gf's new recliner early. i was baffled how to take apart the old chair....until this video! thank you!!!!
Glad it helped :)
I remember commenting to the delivery guys years ago, when they slid it together, it was so easy and he said it came apart just as easy but I could not remember that part at all. I think my wood is split out, so I'm in for a little more work to rebuild it, but getting it apart is the first step. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video.
The bolts on one of the mounting brackets for my mom's chair came loose, and this helped me figure out how to take off the back to tighten them back into place. She's quite happy to be able to sit in it again.
That’s great news! So glad it helped you out
thank you for this video. it took me less than 5 minutes to take my chair apart and out the door after this video. i could see just what i needed to do.
So glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching

Thank you so much! My chair had been sitting in my family room the last week and I got one side out and not the other😞. I flipped it over as you did in the video, put the screwdriver 🪛 in and in came right apart!!!

Yo my man, thank you so much for posting this. The delivery guys assembled my recliner chair and recliner sofa and the was fine, but now I'm moving and had no idea how to disassemble. Very, very, very helpful. Thank you bro.
Glad to hear it! My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, good sir 🎉
Very welcome
Thanks. Super simple but I would have been here for an hour without this video. LOL
Glad it helped!
One of my wings broke off right below where the backrest slides down to. Basically at the weakest point.
Is my only option to try and weld it back on there and reinforce it somehow? Or are there repair kits?
It is not under warranty anymore unfortunately.
Yeah, I would try actual welding if that’s an option. If not, you might try your luck with JB Weld. You could also try the recliner-handles website. It has a large source of mechanisms to choose from
This was great!! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching !

Great clarity with “how to”! My recliner/ lift chair has a different style KD bracket. It is sandwiched in where I can not clearly see it. Do you know of any resources for different style KD brackets?
Let me see what I can find out. I know lazy boy makes one that has a swivel lever that has to be rotated. There is a channel called the recliner guy that has a lot of videos and he may have a video on the subject
@@the323vlog4 Thanks - I saw The Recliner Guy's Lazy Boy video. The one I have does not seem to have the swivel lever like the one he showed. I am going to get a flashlight, long screwdriver and a rubber mallet and head back over there in the next day or two.
@@stumplifter sounds good, keep me updated! Those are the only two I have come across
Great Job! I thank you!😊
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated
Great video.
Thank YOU!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching !!
Thank you. The vendor of our recliner that we purchased at Kirkland sent us the link to this video to help with our problem. This helped a lot! We had put the back onto the base and it clicked on one side but not on the other. Then we couldn't detach the one side that clicked to be able to try again and/or return the recliner. From this video, I was able to figure out where to insert the screwdriver to be able to detach. Tried to put it back together and get it to click on both sides but it still wouldn't. Disassembled again and figured out that the clicking part was slightly rotated and not aligned. Turned it be aligned and re-assembled and both sides clicked! I think your video could've added that part to help me with the 2nd half of the problem, but in any case, we've got it resolved now and (probably) won't be returning the recliner. Thanks again!
That’s a great idea! As I was reading your issue, I was going to say it needed to be aligned. Sometimes those tabs shift.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks dude!

Thanks a million! Going to help with my moving!
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful.
Thank you for your feedback and thank you for watching!
Thank you for the clear explanation/demonstration. Very helpful.
Would you have a suggestion for the following issue:
When manually opening a reclining couch (from completely closed position), the foot rest opens about 2 inches but then the mechanism gets stuck. I'm able to open it if I move the foot rest side-to-side, but need to do this a fair amount. Both ends of the couch behave the same. It's a 1 year old couch. Any suggestion as to what may need to be adjusted?
cheers!
Yes, it sounds like the mechanism is bent and catching on itself or the metal frame at the front. A couple of options may help: inspect mechanism and see where it is bent or catching, the proceed to remove and straighten it out. Folks have recommended c clamps or pounding it out with a heavy hammer.
Another option is check with the vendor and see if you can order a whole new mechanism.
Best of luck
@@the323vlog4 Thank you very much for the reply. I will give this a shot.

Hey!! I just realized I have to move from watching this on Facebook to watching it in my RUclips app if I want to “like” it!!
I guess you better make your way through all of the videos again! 😂
I unplugged mine until the green light turned off. I think it drained the capacitor in the transformer. Worked after plugging back it in.

Hi - I cannot place the back in it’s proper location. Wings will not go to the top of the back bracket. One side is higher. I removed the bracket and it will not go all the way up to lock in place. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks Larry
I use the persuasion of a rubber mallet if it’s stubborn
