So what do I do if that screw broke in half? How would I I get that part of to replace it?
A rivet?
Of all the videos, this is the one that helped us out! Thank you.
Awesome!
Hi. Love your videos. They’ve helped me out a lot. I’ve also learned a lot from you. So thank you. I’m having a problem, figuring out what compressor I need to soda blast some furniture. You mention Harbor freight. Would it be possible for you to show me / tell me what compressor I need. For some reason, I am brain dead, figuring this out. Lol. Lowest price if possible. I really appreciate it
I’d recommend the ingersol rand 60 gallon from tractor supply.
Just read an article stating that power recliners should NOT be plugged into surge protectors...or if you do, make sure there is little other power-sucking devices on it
Search protectors are fine, but yes, always be aware of how much power you were drawing off of the search protector. You don’t want to overload it just like any other outlet.
Thanks for doing this video!! Helped a lot.
I am glad to help!
Great video, very informative!! 👏👏👏😍😍😍
Glad it was helpful!
K....now what if they don't have zippers...
I’ve had success cutting and opening and sewing it up afterwards
This seems like it would help many people, but it doesn't seem to address my particular problem. When i press the button, normally the legs would first come up to horizontal then if i continue pressing, the back reclines. Now, the legs only come up about a third of the way then the back reclines and the seat part raises! I found out that the manufacturer is out of business (Klaussner) so I guess I'm out of luck.
Yeah, unfortunately sounds like there may be an issue with the mechanism. Hard to tell
There is no help if the handle and wire connection is loose??
Sometimes the cable can come loose at the handle and sometimes it can come loose at the mechanism. That’s as easy as reinstalling it. However, if it breaks completely you’re going to have to replace the handle/cable part altogether
Do you have a video on how to fix a leaning manual recliner? All of the videos I've looked at, and the articles I've read, talk about straightening the 'reclining mechanism' and I have no idea what that is or how to do it. Could you help me, please? Thanks! Btw.. I love your videos! I'm learning a lot!!
I believe I have one that was having that issue. Did you see my video on it?
@@the323vlog4 No, I don't think I did. I looked through them but didn't see one. This video at least let me see the whole mechanism. I'll look again. Thanks

Thank you for the video! It's very helpful and gives me a much better idea of how to get started on replacing my pressboard seat correctly.
Glad it helped!
At about 3:00 you threaded the needles and “did a simple knot” but it was all off camera so I have no idea how to do that. It’s not obvious to me.
Just a regular knot
@@the323vlog4what I mean is he says it takes two needles, you need to thread each one and then tie a simple knot. He doesn’t show any of that. Are the needles in a loop of thread or what? That’s the only thing that makes sense…I guess but surprised it wasn’t shown on camera!
Thanks for the demo. Bought blades. Hope to reduce the time spent doing away with the staples used to attach fabric to MCM chair backs as well as the seats. Safety glasses or goggles? Is one left with staple leg fragments that should be hammered into the wood?
Safety glasses definitely help and it definitely doesn’t hurt to hammer over the top of the old staples at the end of the
For god sakes would you please just answer the question what size compressor
This is an ignorant statement. It has nothing to do with size, but with power. It also depends on which tool you buy. If you don’t how to put two and two together then don’t buy one
Where would be the best place to find a replacement bolt for the mechanism? Anyone know the exact size. It looks to be tapered.
I believe those are riveted together, not bolted
@@the323vlog4 it’s a Phillips head bolt. Over time, the nut worked its way off and the bolt fell out. I’m assuming it was vacuumed up at some point. Lowe’s didn’t have an exact match but I found something close. I’ll find out this weekend whether it will work or not.
Could have showed a little more detail on how the srings go
Thanks for the feedback
How do you line the side by sides up correctly
Measure them from the front or rear of piece and make a mark on both pieces as a guide
Great, thank you, now if I only knew how to get to it without ripping the material off.
Good luck ;)
I’m at the beginning of learning how to use a soda blaster. I’ve watched so many videos and I’m very confused. I love Harbor Freight, my area store knows very little about what I need. Is there anyway you can help me figure out what I need to get started? Maybe Harbor Freight or Amazon? I really like your videos. I guess I’m having some kind of a brain freeze on what I need to get. Thank you.
I like the handheld gun one that I use in some of my other videos . No matter what you get you’ll need a compressor strong enough to power it. Every tool requires a certain cfm and when you buy the gun, it will tell you what yours requires.
I recommend when you get to the sub layer cover, only take 3 sides off and pull it back unless you are replacing the cover, that way it makes it easier to install and in the exact location.
Thanks
This was great but the Real Problem with all these recliners is the flat forward part of the leg/foot rest, how do you refinish or repair and or replace as it looks flat and non serviceable
There is usually a zipper underneath for the bottom portions. Have you checked to see if yours has that yet?
Question, I have a series MS17-D1-1015-03 recliner. Once the back is on, the back will not recline without the foot rest open. It this normal? It's very uncomfortable. Thank you for your time.
I have not heard of that issue. This may be a model I’m unfamiliar with
Do you think you could use that on a plaster statue to take off paint with out destroying it?
I doubt it. It’s not very great at removing pain
Hola, tengo el problema que cuando se reclina hacia atras no se queda fijo, se devuelve...
What is typically the issue if the power supply blinks slowly when pluged in to the sofa, nut is a strong solid green when unplugged? Already checked all the cables for damage and made sure no USBs were plugged in to it. Any ideas? Maybe the switches?
It is letting you know there’s a short. In my experience it is usually the switches
Great job
Thank you!
I have had a power recliner for about 7 or 8 years. Yesterday the chair started making a horrible grinding sound when trying to raise the foot rest. I flipped the chair over and the white plastic part that is on the track attached to the motor was snapped in half. Is there anyway to replace just that plastic part or would i need a whole new motor mechanism?
I’ve only seen them as one whole Unit (the motor-lift arm)
You may be able to buy or fabricate some parts of your chair mechanism (the metal frame) online. I found metal drive rod part of the mechanism and plastic bushings online.
Thank you for this video. Gave me some confidence also! I have a modular sofa set and bought the metal alligator clips. Since there isn’t any diagramed installation instructions that are clear and concise, might you share some tips on how to measure and place the clips for the best results. I am worried that the wooden sofa frame isn’t thick enough and/or if the wood become damaged over time? How well do these clips hold up over time? Should I reenforce the wood or is there nothing to worry about? Last question…why would a manufacturer Not place clips on the modular sofa? Too frail..etc? Thank you in advance, All the Best!
That’s a possibility. I would prefer at least a 3/4” thick piece of wood to attach to. As far as measuring, I’d probably split it into thirds if possible or maybe something as simple as 10” from the back and 10” from the front… nothing super specific as far as placement
Thanks so much for the rapid answer. My sofa frame is thicker than 3/4”, so all good. Good day to you, sir.
Whoa before you go throwing money at it get yourself a cheap little $8 multimeter from home depot or even walmart and see if you've got 110 volts AC coming out of the power chord by unplugging it from the power supply and testing across the 2 conductors, and see if you're getting voltage from the switch to the motor in both directions, should be 12v DC. 2 of the conductors operate the motor in one direction and the other 2 reverse the DC polarity to the motor to make it run in the opposite direction. You could also do a simple continuity test on the switch if you suspect either switches are bad. Instructions come with the multimeter but you can ask the guy at home depot to show you how to use them or just watch a youtube video if you cant figure it out but if you can operate a toaster oven you can operate a multimeter.
Thanks for the advice
Thanks so much, this is something I can do with my old favourite, and much cheaper than trying to dispose of a chair and buy another one
You are so welcome!
Legate and Pratt recliner will not stay in recline position, comes up on its own. Built 2008 ??
Flip it over and inspect it to see if anything looks out of the ordinary. Hard to say without seeing it. Possible spring issue or issue with the lever activator that pushes the mechanism open when pulling the handle
My recliner goes forward but it will not go back the head rest.
I would start by replacing the switch and see if that fixes it
@@the323vlog4 I will try that Thank you
@@the323vlog4 I do not known anything about the parts of this chair. Do you mean the switch that is attach to the remote?
What kind of tip are you using because the one that comes with the gun is different? I'm not getting enough pressure to strip my cabinets like in the video.
Mine only came with one pre installed and I don’t remover them offering any other options. Cabinet coatings may just be too resilient for what a soda blaster can handle
This video was INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Waisted my time I wanted to se the compressor
😂
My problem is the lift goes up but it won’t go back down, it will slowly go part of the way back to closed.
I used to see a bend in the mechanism scissor arm that caused them not to close properly. I’d advise flipping it over and carefully opening and closing it to see if you can identify the issue
Wear mask/w filter that crap is getting into your 🫁 lungs
I do when it’s necessary. I’m not worried about small demo when it baking soda in a very well ventilated area and 30 seconds worth of demonstration. I completely agree though that one should be worn when necessary, thanks
Any idea if it is the remote if the chair keeps moving on it's own? If you press recline, it does but then it may reverse itself. Or, just sitting in chair it reclines or raises by itself. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.
I would definitely start with the switch
@@the323vlog4 switch being the remote?
There's craziness going down on the streets of London at the minute. Watching this with a can of beer has made my day. 👍
Thanks for watching
Thank you for that! I totally needed the boost to go get one. Just bought myself one on Amazon. I've got some Art deco furniture to restore that has been painted.
Hope it works well for you!
How did it go?
@@sharronnorthcott2829 it was OK but you really need a super air compressor. It burned my older compressor up. And I had a medium sized one. It just takes a lot of power.
Thanks for the help! Your instructions work perfectly
Glad they helped!
wow.... 90% of the work is to remove the staples. This not only saved me time but bandaids from the cuts I would get 🤣
It’s a lifesaver
Thank you SO much for this. Currently in a place where I can’t afford a new couch so I’m hoping I can do this. Just need some tools!
You can do it!
Our sofa wasn't surge protected and a storm came through and we had a power surge, do you have any advice in what to check for? Also our power transformer doesn't have any indicator light which is really frustrating is there some other way to know if it's getting power?
I would start with the transformer for sure
There are cheap power outlet testers sold at your local hardware or big box store. If the outlet tests ok, then test everything else with a multimeter
Thanks a ton - from India
My pleasure
Thank you 👍
You are welcome
Really helpful
Glad to hear that
Thanks a bunch. I have to do a repair on a sectional that I didn't put together and this info will be very helpful!
Glad it helped!
can my LB power recliner speed be adjusted? It's powerful slow.
Not that I’m aware of
I would like to see how you thread needles when starting. Do you knot the thread?
Yes, I go through the eye and knot it once
