Guyver Weapons
1. Head Beam: A weapon that converts access body heat into laser beams.
2: Vibration Blades: Blades that vibrate at a ultra high frequency, allowing them to cut through almost anything.
3: Pressure Cannon: Not only does the orb on the wearer's waist allow him to fly, but also releases force balls of mass pressure.
4. Sensors: The two orbs on top of the helmet allow the wearer to detect who's near.
5. Control Medal: The orb on the Guyver's skull is more than just for controlling the ship, it also keeps the armor's power amplification in check, and prevents the armor from losing control. When removed, the armor loses control and devours the wearer through disintegration. Crane having a damaged unit is likely to experience armor malfunction, bodily harm, and head splitting headaches.
6. Mega Smasher: The Mega Smasher is the Guyver's most powerful weapon, which resides in the armor's chest plate. It holds massive amounts of energy and can be released when the wear opens up the chest plate. When released, the massive energy beam reduces the target to nothing. It's only drawback is that there is a slight charge up delay, before it can fire.

1. Super strength
2. Incredible speed
3. Unparalleled agility
4. Enhanced durability
5. Invulnerable to conventional weapons (Bullets for example).
6. Can heal any injuries delivered to the wearer.
So there you have it, now you know what the Guyver can do, and what sort of powers and abilities it grants.
Plus the Guyver doesnt have that form. It has many forms too:
1. Guyver Gigantic:
.Energy Amps : They give the Gigantic the ability to produce an omni-directional forcefield similar to a Zoalord's Barrier. Usage of the power amps can include the control of surrounding body parts even if severed from the main body.
.Enhanced High Frequency Wave-Vibration Swords: They are now able to become flexible and can grow and curve to amazing distances.
.Tri Head Beam Orbs: The large center orb has fifteen times the intensity of a normal Guyver's Head Beam, and the two smaller orbs have the same output of a normal Guyver Head Beam.
.Vibration Globes: There are two more Vibration Globes at its mouth and they are concealed by plates that open out.
.Giga-Smasher : It is one hundred times more devastating than the Mega-Smasher because of the two extra Gravity Control Orbs, one embedded in each chest plate, which grants it extra power.
.Gravity Knuckle: A high-powered jab, mostly used in conjunction with the back thrusters, channeling energy into its fist for a powerful discharge upon target impact.
.Gravity Ram: By extending the chest spike and channeling energy into it, activating the Barrier shield and powering up all three gravity orbs, the Gigantic accelerates using the thrusters on his back. This has the same effect as seen caused by evil Aptom's high-frequency spear, which means the surrounding area is totally obliterated without any visible trace as though atomized.
Plasma Jets: On the back of the Gigantic are two large packs that sit right under the shoulder blades. These packs can be used to propel the Gigantic forward at incredible speed and an alarming rate, allowing it to fly much faster than before.

The fight choreography is amazing in guyver 2. They did a fantastic job.

I don't care what anybody says. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! The first one kinda sucked but it had some good ideas from it's source material. Also big fan of the manga and anime versions. But Guyver: Dark Hero kicks ass!

The Guyver manga was meant to be a hyper-violent version of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (Power Rangers in the US) so if it looks like an R-rated Power Rangers, they did it right.

Guyver: Dark Hero's music production was done by Les Claypool III's company Magnitude 8 Studios, which was co-owned by the late great Kevin Seymour's Animaze Inc. David Hayter would later work for Animaze by doing dubbing work for Gundam: War in the Pocket, Castle of Cagliostro, and Moldiver.
I grew up in the same county as Les Claypool. We used to go see him constantly. He does the Halloween show every year. Love Les Claypool.

To answer the whole 'wait that's the same monster is that the same guy?' thing? From the original manga they can mass produce 'Types' of zoanoids. It's not some random monster to each person.

Oh, I forgot that was the name of Guyver 2. I haven't read it in a... decade I think, I should settle in and re-read the series again. Especially as I stopped just as it went on hiatus.
I've been watching the 2000's "Bioboosted Armor" Anime retelling which is miles above better.
In all fairness, It's mostly good for people who can't get their hands on the manga and need to catch up. (It's quite scarce where I am)

One of my all time favorite movies. I would rent it over and over when I was a kid, until my dad just bought me a copy. Still love it to this day.

hmm... this really is an impressive sequel in comparison to the first. but both of these films overall prove that ppl can at least make a decent live-action anime film. and hell, i'd pay to see a remake of guyver

Because between Bat-Keaton and Bat-Afleck, we had Bat-Conroy who was strongly opposed to killing.
And then there's Bat-Miller, who simply forces children to eat rats.
Bat-Miller was a cool elder Batman. But then in the prequels he becomes Crazy Steve.

The facial effects on the monsters are surprisingly believable
I have to agree, Brandon. For a b-movie with tiny budget, Guyver 2 is surprisingly entertaining. The fact it got superior fighting scenes and tries to play it straight (despite the occasional silly dialogue) is what lifts this sequel above the first film. The first Guyver was just plain stupid for the most part and frankly unwatchable now. But Guyver 2 is a fun movie I can enjoy if I am in the right mood.
As a kid I had this taped on vhs & wore it out! Really wasn't any live action stuff like this out there this dark! Still 100 times better than the first one!

YES YES YES! A big part of my childhood here. I remember renting Guyver 2 A LOT from the local video store when I was a kid. And I agree with your thoughts. It's not perfect, but it is a hell of an improvement over the first one. I also do think that this series deserves a reboot. :)
All we need is a Guyver 3, and possibly a television sequel series, all relying more heavily on practical effects over CGI.

When I was younger I actually really loved this movie. I think it is the best ( so far ) of a anime turned live action. Most have been such garbage, Aeon Flux was one of my favorites and the live action movie was just boring. Guyver v Predator would be such an awesome cross over comic.

I remember getting this movie recommended to me all the time in my first years on youtube. I miss it.
I had this on VHS and use to watch it every day, it was one of my favorite movies. Oh and surprisingly both movies were directed by same guy, who did FX for bunch of movies (Predator for example). Also monster suits were made by Screaming Mad George, which explains why monsters look so good in both movies. That dude is underrated FX master.
I'll be honest, the snake joke made me think my computer glitched or something.

Honestly. Guyver 2 feels more like the anime than the first one did. It wasn't 1 to 1 but, it definitely has that more serious tone and brings back the violence from the original anime

I loved how true to the Manga the fights were in this,.. Guyver means "out of control".. and it was fucking brutal to those things.. he loved breaking fingers hands and arms back over themselves, and ramming his fingers through eyes and busting the brow ridges and shit,.. like,.. really brutal lol .. those orbs are also sensors and a defense system laser array, he has the power smasher in his chest, and the orb in his abdomen is something that can control gravity, and the suit amplifies combat ability, so basically nanosecond blade dashes and things getting ripped apart by things moving so fast you cant see it move lol... fuck i love Guyver :D

It's so weird hearing David Hayter go so light on his voice.
That's like his real voice before he's voicing Solid Snake. And because of he makes his voice so "husky", his voice got weird and got his iconic tones we know today.

I rented this from blockbuster a few years after it was released. I saw it after I saw the original. I liked it way more than the original; especially with the darker more violent tone. At the time it was released-1994 apearantly, it worked as a sequel revaeling more about the guyver unit and the zoanoids. The action was solid and bloody.(as in the manga and video anime series) Clearly there are issues with the acting and dialog. This is not great by 2000's standards.
This was my favorite childhood movie and you made it better by letting me realize David Hayter was the MC; but you left the most epic part out of mention. Best super hero CGI transformation when he jumps off the cliff and yells out all serious "Guyver!" Can I get that in 2020!?
Weird seeing Snake before he was Snake. This is even where he got the voice from I think
I was so excited when I heard this movie was coming out, the violence was definitely more on par with the source material at least. The Guyver looks a little more like the anime, just wish they wouldn't have done the Zoanoid Guyver 2 and maybe had Guyver 3 in it.

Man...This was one of my favorite movies when I was in high school. And I just wish that we could have more adult-oriented tokusatsu. I would love to see a Guyver reboot, but only if they stick to tokusatsu tradition and use suits instead of CGI. We need more dudes in rubber monster suits beating the shit out of each other.
I remember asking my dad about how shit Superman 2 looked and he said "it looked great at the time". The problem with rose tinted glasses is that when anyone else wears them, they're just glasses.

This is the one! My favorite movie of all time! I loved the first review and loved this one, too. Great channel, I'm glad I found it. Seriously bro, you're bringing all those wonderful memories of rubber suit monsters and over the top gore, counterbalanced by cheesy acting and incomplete stories. They don't make em like they used to....they're much worse now, lol!
I'm just stunned that more reviewers haven't done this movie for those sweet, sweet Hayeter fan views alone. I went from "not sure if I'm in the mood to see Brandon's take on the Guyver film I've already watched so much stuff about" to "oh wait oh hell yeah that says Guyver *2* oh sweet Tenold and Hayter together at last!"
By the way, I know you were just making a joke, but I think there's actually an in-world reason for the "sometimes laser". I think it was some kind of weird reflex type thing that was dependent on the suit and totally inaccessible to the user? Too bad it only ever ends up being a literal Deus Ex Machina. :
If I’m remembering correctly, his chest laser (the mega smasher) leaves the guyver unit drained. Not empty, but weak enough that if the attack fails, the fights basically over

i should point out that the Guyver anime (also not sure about the manga) never had a Zoanoid actually use a Guyver unit, so props to this movie having an original idea

Nope, this was. First and only movie Villain to exist, and it kicks ass. But his design echos both Guyver 2 and Guyver 3! It's so Goddamn cool to see this!

That first fight scene is one of my favorite fight scenes of all time,.. it's all about that bullet deflection,.. when i seen that for the first time when i was like 11 or 12 I flipped out and fell in love with Guyver, the Anime is fucking insane,.. BTW, FYI people, the actor who played the Guyver in this film? David Hayter, AKA the voice of Solid Snake himself from the Metal Gear Solid games. Also, when PS3 first came out, and when you first fired out MGS4, remember those weird commercials that appeared at the beginning? And if you pressed the buttons, it was like changing channels on a tv? One of those commercials had a guy talking about MGS4's "Solid Eye" on a talk show. That guy, also David Hayter. He's popped up in some weird stuff over the years.

Fun Fact: In the anime, Sho (Guyver 01) can only use the Mega Smasher only once. Simply because it drains his energy, and the fact that it has to build up that energy, before it can fire.

This is late, but the crystal in the Guyver's head causes regeneration, the crystal has to be fully destroyed, or another Unit is born. Also, the Mega smasher wears the host out, so they can't spam the Mega smasher.
