One thing I’ll always appreciate with Nintendo is their quality work on remakes. Especially their osts from Pokémon to Zelda to Mario they always do a great job with them keeping the same elements that fans loved while adding new twists and sounds with them.
Sometimes their remakes are good. I was very close to buying Pokemon Diamond and Pearl but then I was disappointed. I did buy 3D All Stars and I was disappointed. There are like 2 more examples I can’t think of right now
@@JakeB-Real diamond and pearl wasn’t done well because it wasn’t gamefreak who did the remakes it was a different company however they are better games than the originals it’s just that they weren’t on the same level as the consensus remakes in the series. 3d all stars wasn’t a remake it was a remaster. @@JakeB-Real 3D All Stars is not a remake. It was never marketed that way. If you were disappointed because you bought it expecting anything except a port then that's on you.
@@TeknoThomNow that the Game is out, is Bass more prominent in the Remake or Original OST? Yes I am aware the Remake lets you change the OST to Original
I'm so glad that they're letting us switch to the original music whenever we want. As much as I love the remastered versions, I can't get over how modern they sound. I need the silly little noises used in the originals. My nostalgia is strong. And they could have easily left out that option and said "tough stuff, you either listen to the new versions or put it on mute." But they listened to what the fans wanted and are making one of the best remakes they've ever made.
I think the lack of (pronounced) bass and sound effects make it less charming than the original. But I also don't think remakes are "replacements" for original releases either. I've played the original a few times, so I'll play the remake as its made, just to see/hear the game in a new light. While there's some good stuff in terms of music in the newer Paper Mario's, I also think it's a bit too "professional". It doesn't have unorthodox sounds or instruments to make it feel quirky. It's just straight jazz. I like jazz! But it needs something else to stand out from sounding like "Mario Kart 8 if it was an RPG".
I disagree. Remake has more varied instrumentation but also plenty of weirdness. I don't think it matches the vibe of MK8's overall sound at all. Jazz is also not the word I'd use to describe this remix of Petal Meadows. The actual melody is mostly the same, just now there's more pronounced woodwind instruments as well as what sounds like some string instruments as well.
I think the new version of Rogueport is just a smidge too overproduced, a.k.a. ‘too busy’. That could be because of it being compressed on Twitter and RUclips; but generally speaking I much prefer the Rogueport-remix from Sm4sh/SSBU. This song also suffers a little bit from the same issue; but overall I think it works better to have all these woodwind and brass for a ‘grassy plains’-type area like Petalburg! Even if I do end up the original more, I’m very happy to hear new takes on the original songs!
I like the Switch version more for the part before the big "drop" (the first 45 seconds of the original song), but after the drop the Gamecube version sounds soooooo much better. I'm really happy that there's a badge that lets you switch to the original soundtrack, otherwise this would have soured the first chapter for me!
With the alternating songs version if I didn't know the theme, I'd 100% assume the remake version was the original and the original was an improvement. Remake version definitely has a lot of what they were doing from Origami King in it though and with the original tunes in I appreciate the effort, even if the original sounds both more lively and relaxing to me at the same time.
I'm excited for the soundtrack to be uploaded to RUclips so I can then work on a sequel to my Terraria mod that changes the music to Paper Mario 1 & 2 music.
Love this tune, one of my favourites in both the original and so far in the remake. So looking forward to hearing Magnus Von Punish (the Magnus Von Grapple boss tune) in the remake, see if it hits as hard as I'm anticipating it to
i’m huge fan of the original but i feel like so many people are focusing on what’s “better”. both are inherently different, it has to be when adapting to live instruments. i don’t think folks realize that arranging for actual instruments is such a daunting task and whoever did for the remake did such an amazing job that it makes me sad that there are those who are so quick to brush it off and automatically say “original is better!” without even experiencing the music in context, i.e. actually playing the game. no matter what, people are always going to lean into the first version of anything so it makes sense that people are passionate about (and rightfully so because it IS great) but they should at least give the new one a chance when the game comes out.
The game cube one sounded more like playing a video game and the nods to the original Mario Theme were a little more obvious. The new one is so soundtrack-y it makes it sound a lot more serious
GameCube one is the one such a nostalgic melody. Love it and happiness comes to my hearts upon hearing it 😊 hope they give us the option to keep it classic or modern 🎉
You should do a comparison between the GameCube PetalBurg music and the remake's. It's my favorite song in the original, so I was worried they'd botch it, but I actually think it's 100% on par with the original. It's going for a very different feeling than the original, but it sounds just as great!
i do like the remake but the instruments in the original sound alot more punchy, whereas the remake sounds kinda washed out in comparison. doesn't scratch my brain the same way the original does. i still love it though!
The original is better, the jumping sounds that I hear [with headphones] sounds clear and precise, and I love the tone of the melody. However, the middle to end of the remake sounded great, mainly the 3ed breakdown part that they added, too bad it's just once before the reset. [Don't ware it out I say, you'll be hearing it a lot so yeah.] I just wish that the music stayed spicy throughout seeing how they've chose to change most of it.
I feel like a lot of these remixes don't fit the game itself but would be a perfect inclusion within a Smash Bros. game where the energy and tension is higher. I don't recall much happening within this section of the game so I prefer the cutesy synth quality of the original.
I've only ever played the original N64 Paper Mario extensively (which should've been the one to have gotten the remake treatment in my opinion). So I've no nostalgia for Paper Mario TTYD. Always wanted to play the sequel to death, but never had the hardware to play nor emulate it on. It's only been recently that I started playing the original GCN version recently on my Steam Deck and I have to say, Yes it is better in many ways. But the original is still just as good in its own charm and stylistic way.
I don't like that they got rid of the snare drum (and SYNTH TOMS - compare 0:44 to 2:00) in the remake? It's such a weird choice to remove it entirely. At least there's the option to switch between tunes.
As a longtime fan of the old games I just don't understand why people are like this lol, the remake ost is just better across the board for me so far. This is one case where I will straight up blame nostalgia for the synths for a lot of the takes
