The reason behind of this is Football Manager is programmed using Integer datatypes instead of long integers, which is a core design error. It shouldn't be too difficult to fix. When you suroass the max Integer number, which is exactly the max income and spenditure you can see. Still FM has a great error handling and it won't crash and try to keep going so you won't notice the game being broken in a short term and can eventually fix itself
The maximum amount of any given item in old school runescape is 2,147,483,647, this due to it using 32-bit signed integers in terms of data value storage. I'm guessing that fm uses 32-bit too so the limit for numerical values would be £2,147,483,647, most likely because lets be honest when is a club going to ever have that much.
fm uses this too, when you go above that number and beyond the -2,147,483,647 the game starts to break , they need to raise this value has prizes and club values become higher
@@micas290 ahhh, I know it would probably take an awful lot of effort and time change. Maybe we could see it coming in Fm25 when we get the major updates it would be a nice update to have
@@JaeDenn15 i opened a ticket on the forum because i tried the same thing with liverpool on the premier league in which states that if you fail ffp you are relegated, they failed many times but werent relegated, SI realised that was a bug they let slip
FM developers use 32-bit integers to display the amounts :D it takes up less memory (32 bit which is 4 byte) but has a limitation of 2 to the power of 31 minus 1. I dont think memory is an issue anymore, so they could fix this, they probably have some legacy code which handles the storage of a club's financial data, and they dont want to touch it
Which is disgraceful imo. They want us to spend our full 50 pounds every year but they also don't want to fully fix problems that's been affecting the game for decades now. Memory is no longer an issue, actually it is an issue. Football Manager is *horrid* at utilizing more and faster memory. Having 64gb of DDR5 has no difference compared to having 32gb DDR4, probably even DDR3. It's a sham.
Not directly financial, but if you significantly lower their reputation (and that of some of their players, would that lower sponsorship amounts and some of the other revenue, like shirt sales?
So one interesting thing i noticed, was when you showed how much the club had recieved at the beginning of the video from "other" the amount of 2147483647, is a significant number, its the largest value that a signed 32-bit integer field can hold, so that number isnt just random :D . Any runescape player would know this number, because its the highest amount of GP you can hold at once, up until recently on runescape 3 where they changed the highest cash stack up. But yeah, fun fact for ya :D Also amazing videos, great content, discovered you like couple months ago, havent missed a video! Great work!
Why may have happened was an under flow error in the bank balance, trying 500 mil in debt May work. The 2.14 billion is a just a coded cap that’s 2^31. It can’t display higher (The storage would be 2^32 both positive and negative)
The reason that 2.1b is the maximum is the 32 bit integer limit, which also explains why some of the Income money goes into red, numbers bigger either won't be displayed or go into the negatives
I don't get why the editor works so hard to prevent clubs going into administration and going bankrupt. It's an editor for a reason, we don't want realism 😂
You should try moving the top 10 concacaf nations to Europe to see how they do in the 100 years. Idk if that’s even possible because in new to FM and FM content but if anyone can it’s probably you
My club is not top of the world in revenue, doesn't have the highest net spend in the last decade (or even since QSI took over), never had a wage bill near the highest in football the first 10 years of QSI, and doesn't have anywhere near the richest owners. (UAE and Saudi- City. and Newcastle) are FAR wealthier. Why'd Tom pick us for this video?
You really need to learn about integer types. It's blatantly obvious what's going on here, and you doing all this excessive expense screwing is, as you rightly say, breaking the game. The highest possible value the game can represent is 2,147,483,647; while the lowest is -2,147,483,648, which are the upper and lower limit of a 32-bit integer. And I've learned (by deduction, from your videos) that the game operates internally in pounds. The game is not trying to fix itself, you broke it beyond repair Here's how you break PSG (allowing the IGE): Schedule an £100M inbound transfer for them every day, until they're £2B in the red. Then leave it. Let's see them climb out of that hole.
😭 I'm going to have to buy money I've won the treble twice with nottingham forest and only receiving 2mill who tf am I going to buy for 2mill this game will turn me depressed

Yes you are right its signed integer they are using ... they should start using long long
Couldn't have happened to a better club.
and monaco became the new PSG they dominance ligue 1 for 11 seasons from 2024-2025 until 2034-2035

Yes
Can't wait for your FM24 videos. It seems that Japanese leagues are finally coming to FM 😍
Hope you'll do a video with Urawa Reds 🙏
Its because 2,147,483,647 is the maximum value in their code.

Would love to see a video where you make all the teams in the prem have sugar daddy's and a billion in the bank/transfer budget Tom!
Can one edit Football Manager in a way only domestic players can be bought by clubs and how would that effect the football landscape?
I don't get why the editor works so hard to prevent clubs going into administration and going bankrupt. It's an editor for a reason, we don't want realism 😂
That's exactly what I wanted to see with exactly the club I wanted it to be😍
A very satisfying video indeed. This video felt like ASMR for me
Nice, if not for some dodgy accounts they would probably actually have a balance sheet like this.
Interesting vid.... Saying that, do this exact challenge in FM 2024 and get rid of the rich owners. take away their "sponsorship deals" too
Well done Tom

How do you acces the pre-gmaw editor?
love that jersey bro
2:36 wait then why didn’t you just duplicate it (x8) the first time and (x8) the second time. That would have given you 64 instances easily.
Came here to say about int32, but a lot of people beat me to it. GGs, y'all!
P.S.G. should have a trophy they award to the highest-finishing team in League Un that isn't them.
bro is playing Football Shareholder 2023
Tom doesnt know when a team hits 1,000,000,000 in debt fm resets it
It is integer overflow
How do I move a team away from their stadium like Tom did in the video?
Lovr your shirt where did you get it from ??
The reason the expenditure and income was the same and they were in debt is because it reached the 32 bit integer limit
TomFm doesn't understand how integers work
Very nice.
What’s his upload schedule? Sometimes I check his yt page 3 times a day waiting for a new video
does anyone know how he gets the generated pictures for new stadiums?
All of this is just further proof that FM isn't a true sim but is more of a simcade game
Thank you
PSG got Glazered
Please do that too man city next
This is where you need to understand the significance of the numbers it tops out at
Venice kit - instant like
Tom never played Runescape and it shows
I see all the programmers have showed up in chat. Like there's a Google alert on 2,147,483,647 that we all come running

Can you do a video where you give Serbia a 1.6 billion dollar deal? It would be great to see if red star can win another champions league.
If only this happened in real life 😢😢😢
Fm24 this video will have the administration companies swarm all over PSG 😂😂
I think reputation plays into investment.
Do the same for all top 5 clubs in every league and relegate them to make it more realistic.
it's a Glazers Simulation
Its easy....i often bankrupt Chelsea...City and PSG. you have to keep using the in game editor to erase the commercial income.
Expected u to spend 500 million on weghorst icl
Investment of -£1.2billion? Who owns it now? The Glazers?
now then tom

Saudi sheikhs really, what can we do against these unwelcome sponsors?

Bad players with high wage
City is worse
