I gave 3 different non-league teams £1billion 3 different ways to see which one is most effective in helping them rebuild and rise up the leagues. One got £1billion in sponsorships, one got £1billion in facilities and one got £1billion of players. Which one will reach the Premier League first?

Love this experiment. Really interesting. Being born and raised about 1 mile from Moss Lane, I'm trying to imagine Altrincham in a 150,000 stadium (and filling it !) The regeneration of the area would have been awesome.

Seeing over half of Trafford descend on Altrincham every other week would be a sight. Need a few more Trams I would think. Can only imagine what the A56 would look like!!
When you give them 1B money , you should give them best Director of football or technical director. Then you can see them signing players .

I wonder whether having the Altrincham stadium condition set to 20 (Very Poor) is the reason they moved to a slightly smaller stadium and therefore had no money compared to the others after 10 seasons?

it will be that...its was in dire need of repairs and they couldn't afford to do them, cos obviously a national league club doesn't have the money for a massive renovation of a 150,000 seat stadium. The experiment was broken by this, a simple misunderstanding as I'd imagine lollujo meant for it to be in perfect condition not very poor, and thought higher was better as it is for most things in FM
edit: I commented before watching...stadium condition wasn't set to 20 (very poor) and indeed was at 1 in the final year that it was checked. Nor did they move stadiums. Capacity was reduced by 10000 at the same stadium, probably because it wasn't being useddue to reduced attendances over the years and it saved money on maintenance

One club got a billion quids, one club got loaded players, one club got a huge stadium and a fanbase worth much more i reckon. My prediction is before watching that the fanbaseclub will in time win more from the fanbase than the stadium
Hi Kev, Great experiment, i dont know if you noticed and i only looked for this because it also happened to me trying experiments like this, in Altrinchams case, although you alredy gave them the biggest stadium they can have on FM, at the end of the video and after seeing them have their bank balance in the red you can also see on the team profile screen that they are now in a different stadium with a completely different name, built in 2031 but with less capacity than the one you gave them and that could be where all their money went, i dont know why this happens while trying these experiments, but it is something that i see happen quite often why i do them
Maybe because their stadium condition at the start was “very poor”. Kev should’ve set it to “excellent”, I think

If there is one thing these experiments prove is that AI is still shit at managing teams.
This aspect of the game has never been developed much. It's all secondary to player experience.
Yep they don't know how to progress youngsters who could be useful to the squad and just waste wage budget on ridiculous free transfers based upon ca that don't progress the club at all.
Aldershot were basically playing Ultimate Team for five seasons.
Someone should give kev a billion and see how far he goes with it

Got to say, something I found about teams having money is no matter who or what you are, they always ask for ridiculous money.
I had a 3 fringe players wanting nearly 100k a week at Villa, but they are on 7.5k-15k at their current clubs, and it’s not like they are at terrible clubs either!
I love how when a chealsea squad who won the champions league ruined the club and became midtable with 1 billion but when 3 non-pro teams get 1 billion they go to the prem pretty quickly tbh
The most surprising thing in this experiment is Man united being dominant in the premier league
My guess,
The team with the players flys up the leagues, then slowly falls back down once they lose them and can't replace them.
The team with the Money gets a couple of promotions, relaying on buying big, and them crash hard when the money runs out and FFP kicks in when they reach the EFL.
The team with stadium and facilities, has the slowest start, but goes the furthest as they recruit and train elite players and there cash flow will mean they won't go broke like the other 2.

In my experience/experiments I've noticed that the AI is always bad at investing money, at least at lower reputation clubs. They almost always end up putting ridiculous amounts of money into the wages of mediocre players that aren't even good enough to win them the league at whatever level they're playing.
I'm not at all surprised that having the best facilities ends up having the best impact long term, because at least they produce their own good players even if the AI still doesn't seem to really take full advantage of that. Plus filling a huge stadium in a country like England where tickets are pretty much the most expensive in world football is like having a licence to print money. Though I wonder how good of a job FM does of simulating match and season ticket price increases as the club climbs the leagues.
What I didn't expect is for the club with the world class players to remain in a pretty good position after losing them. I guess the money and the reputation bump from spending that season in the Premier League was enough to drag them to the status of upper mid-table Championship side.
Ultimately in FM the one factor that seems to be most influential when determining a club's success is not money, but reputation (both the club reputation and the league reputation). If your reputation is bad, good players won't even want to talk to you, regardless of how much you might be willing to give them. It's probably the main reason why the AI struggles so much to use money at lower league/ lower reputation clubs. I've noticed they only start spending money on transfers when the reputation increases past a certain point. A low reputation also means you'll get peanuts for your best players when selling them, even though realistically you'd have plenty of money to keep them and have no pressure to sell them unless you get a good price. Simply because low reputation means a low market value regardless of how flush with cash you are. And, of course, because of the importance of reputation, you can't say no, I won't sell my best player for next to nothing because the player will get upset both if you say no to a transfer from a bigger club, or if you try to set an asking price above what FM thinks the asking price should be at that level.
In the end, I can't fault FM much for having an AI that doesn't really know how to spend a billion pounds at a lower league club simply because in real life this doesn't really happen. If it did happen in real life, having such a huge amount of money would drastically alter how the club is perceived and it would factor into the decisions of players to either join the club or not leave it. But the FM simulation doesn't really know what to make of such an absurd situation as having a billion pounds in the fifth tier. Besides, while being a simulation, FM is still generous enough with what it will allow a player to do. Winning the Champions League with a club from Malta is absurd enough as it is, but it's quite achievable in FM. Can't complain too much for it not being able to handle some of the more bonkers ideas.
AFC fylde went into administration the year they got relegated from the championship. 12 wins, 11 draws is 47 points and they went down with 35 points.
If you want non-league teams to spend insane amount of money you need to increase their reputation to be able to make expensive players interested in joining them

Before I watch this. I want to guess on the answer. Short term players, medium term sponsorships and long term is infrastructure.

Giving non-league clubs the money always ends up with massively inflated wages, the AI managers just don't know what to do with the money and end up sending it on wages, insteadd of bringing in good talent.

If you are doing a youth facilities experiment again one way you can check the players who came through the academy is from the player search screen you can filter by what club they were trained at
When editing stadium condition, 20 is the worst and 0 is the best so u gave altrincham a very poor stadium condition. Love your videos though 😃
if you play with these 3 options you would certainly get better results then the AI, the AI makes some random choices, haaland not hitting 40 league goals in lower levels is proof of that.

I've been calling BS on all the other videos where they just dump a sack of cash in the club and say "now you rich". That's not how budgetting nor FFP works. Not irl or in FM.
This is also one of the main reason, when you build a club with no fan base nor stadium, you want to sell players and receive as much as possible over time.
The reason for this is the game engine looks at the clubs projected finances and takes decisions based on that. So a 100% transfer feels better now, but has a better impact if spread out over 4 years. Naturally, you need to balance it and sometimes you need cash now.
Its almost a cheat how strong the effect is, but i invite you to do a game, where every single player sale is maxed out payments every 6 or 12 months for max length. Once the ball starts rolling, you'll see a much friendlier and more expansive board.
That was refreshing! Bit surprised that Aldershot managed to become West Brom kind of team after they lost their all star players. And not surprised at all to see that facilities alone do not mean you get fancy newgens. The game just does not work that way 😂
i still wish one of the new "big changes" for 25 is a FFP rework but we all know thats not happening. financial wiggling in real football is way more complex than what we have in the game

I think a human player would do better with those players than AI managers would do. If I were to manage them, I would get in decent young free transfers every year to boost the squad.

I think Altrincham randomly built themselves a new stadium, the name of it and the capacity has changed from the start of the video (it is down to 140k). That might explain why they have no money....
Another flaw with the 1 billion experiment is that they always keep the club's reputation unchanged, and that, even for such an experiment, is unrealistic. If it happened IRL, they'd get a reputation bump, which the AI is expecting, so they can make smarter investments.

The reason why clubs with 100 million to spend don't sign any big names is probably the low reputation of the league they play in.
Those talking about the stadium at the start - by Min 7:00 it's condition is set to 1 (so either Kev noticed, or the club fixed it with fund generated by teh crowds)
The AI teambuilding being terrible is the biggest reason why FM is too easy
My prediction.
1 club gonna make it to EPL or at least Championsip within 10 seasons and become an established team out there.
2 club gonna have very fast rise and then very fast fall, after their players will leave.
3 club gonna progess slowly and will not even be in Championship within 10 years. L1 or L2.
Commenting after seeing the teams -
Team 1 - 10 year sponsorship, imagine will get stuck being a yo yo championship/league 1 team, maybe 1 stint in the prem
Team 2 - Players, straight to the prem and when they leave back down to league 2
Team 3 - Facilities, slow rise to the championship and become a yo yo between that and the prem, worried if they may even fail this because the stadium condition was ‘very poor’

The temporary players thing would be an interesting save, presumably you would have the nous to get a team built during the come up
It´s a very unfair "gift" when comparing, the other 2 clubs keep their "gifts" ... having to part with most of your squad without getting anything in return is just evil even if you got to the PL.
I would rather have a filled 70k stadium from the beginning any time of the day. That´s a forever bonus.
problem with giving lower teams money is that, their reputation is too low so the are not gonna sign any proper players.

Paused at 4:30 I reckon Aldershot will get the furthest the quickest and the other two will have a steady increase Fylde doing slightly better of those two.
So it’s not far off what I thought I thought Fylde would have done much better but that’s not a huge shocker
Before the experiment: I’d say the players will reach the top first, but the club will bounce back hardly after they leave, not all the way down but pretty far back.
The sponsorship club will be the second club to the top and will end up in the lower first division.
The stadium attendance and facilities club will be the best after 10 years, but will also only scratch europe.
Disclaimer: im not sure rn how low they start at, and I guess it’s in England so the first division is the prem?
You ended it too soon. I don't think your conclusion is valid. Maybe Altrincham come out on top, but maybe Aldershot would have. It depends how they faired over the next 5-10 years. We really have no idea how good Altrincham are. Are they West Brom plus or minus?
Stopped at 4:28 just to make this comment and I thiiiink.... it's either gonna be the facilities team or the players team. Kinda leaning more towards the facilities team because facilities are all-encompassing: the entire team gets the benefit. The money guys I don't think are going anywhere, AI's bad with finance. The addition to all of these would be to give them decent staff!
If you give the wrong people a lot of money, they will spend it badly.
Give them good staff that know how to run a football club and I think all of these clubs would be more successful long term.

The billion players will fly up the leagues. The one with the facilities will do better in the long run.
To me the one with the best players will eventually become worst, yes they might stroll it for a few years but when those players go they have nothing to rely on (my guess anyway)

Should of let the club be able to sell the billion pounds worth of players,see if they club spent the money they got on player sales any differently.
They would have sold them for £20k to £50k each
