Keep an eye on match momentum during matches. If you're not creating anything, fiddle with width instruction (narrow to wide etc) and keep an eye on whether it improves. If opposition having a lot of good chances, drop your line or push it up. They're the changes I make during matches.
I think the main problem is we all want to be more pro active especially during games bc… its fun to have control. But in the end ur right and i do the same. I simply look at momentum and change 1-2 things like width or my line. But its kinda lame when u find out the best thing to do to win is do nothing and have minimal tactics and strategies/instructions.
@@CimbomFanFiction probably so but I feel (with zero coaching experience except Varsity high school in America) that "doing nothing" is almost close to real management. Coach the boys and set them free LOL
Another thing about the agent negotiation. Once you get him to agree to a lower wage, you can make the contract start date at the end of the season so you still pay him the lower wage for the rest of the year and only later the higher fee. If you do this without the negotiation, he'll ask for a much larger wage than if you don't.
I used to download tactics left and right untill I found something that worked. This year I did what you said, tweaked the defaults to suit my team. PL and CL trophies in the second year. Only difference, I use all 3 recommended tactics. Gegenpress to counter tikitaka and control possession. Fluid counter-attack to counter gegenpress. Control possession against everything else. Undefeated in the third season.
To do the training schedule, just pick the staff element with the highest discipline and determination, and you will have green ratings all over the place 👍🏻
Some things I do that Kev didn't mention. I don't lose very often either. 1.I use Opposition Instructions always. I want the other team playing under pressure and on their weaker foot as that makes them worse players. 2. When your injured player gets to yellow injury status, put them on Injury Rehab, by choosing Training--Additional Focus--General Rehab. This seems to help with keeping your team healthy 3. I rarely have the mid-season slump, possibly because I slightly change the formation/roles during the pregame, which may make it harder for the match engine to crack your tactic.
This is possibly the best guide on FM I've ever seen. Very well done, keeping things simple. Too many times I see people worry about improving the last few percent while ignoring the fundamentals.
the success rate of the agent reducing demands relies heavily on how interested the player is in the transfer which you can see before you ask for a wage reduction, you can see with Balogun he was only slightly interested in a transfer which is why he wants a higher wage range
I was on a very poor run of form, dead last at the mid season break with threat of relegation. Followed your advice to just use the recommended tactics and have my assman pick my best IX… already on a 4 match winning run. Thank you 😂
When it comes to player interactions I've usually found the best approach is just to tell them the truth. If someone comes in and wants a better contract and you are already at close to your wage budget, tell them "the club can't afford it" and they'll probably agree. If they complain about playing time, ask them to lower their squad status,; if they are actually worse than whoever's playing over them, they'll probably agree. This is also influenced by your reputation and leadership support; if you have a higher reputation than your players they'll be intimidated by you and you can often push them around to see things your way. In pretty much all cases you'll always have a chance to spin them a story and see if they buy it before you back down.
In lower divisions, look for loans on transfer deadline day. Teams will get desperate to offload players then and you're likely to be able to better players or players with paying less of their wages. I got a good Serie A CB on loan in League 1 because the team wanted to offload him.
Not played FM in over ten years, started watching your videos and now I’m hooked again lol and as for changing tactics at half time and bad results that was me lol
On the installments tip, I believe they do have an impact on future finances. We just don't get to see them or the impact of them much, unless we bother too much looking for them. Also, as a tip, you could strike deals with yearly installments going up to SIX YEARS rather than "just" three. You'll have to add in the 3 year option, add the 2 year option and the 1 year option (in that order) and you should manage to total 6 years worth of installments. Didn't do it myself yet, but seen someone do it and share it on RUclips. Sounds like overkill, but Arsenal paid Pépé's transfer fee over 4 or 5 years 🤷♂️
That was my impression too. Doesn’t it go into the “Transfer Debt” section under your debts and loans in the finances tab? So depending on how your club is you could create some issues down the road.
I watched this video, started a Fulham save, and have no idea what is going on as I’m 2nd in the league. I just chose the formation and tactics that suited the team and chose their favourite roles. The players are only really 3 star with a couple of 3.5s but we’re flying. So simple as I usually download mad tactics and don’t do this well! Thank you 😊
Currently in my 4th season with Aston Villa, the first two seasons were great but now battling for relegation 😢. I am definitely going to try these tips!
Use transfer deadline day to get bargains. Loan listed and transfer listed players will be loads cheaper. I always set up training schedules for Saturday and Wednesday-Saturday match weeks, so I can just select the schedule that works for the matches I have. Quicker than adding in the match reviews and team bonding manually.
The thing with Installments is that they will be deducted from the bank balance inform of transfer debt but not from your actual budget so there is nothing to worry about
Making huge changes to your tactic during a match or a season may be easy in your manager's mind, but you have the entire squad to explain it to. I like to envision how it would look in real-life and I would see a lot of question marks above my players heads when I'm trying to explain all the changes.
i always use opposition instructions and set them myself esp eg to put players on their weaker foot makes a massive difference in the match, data hub is useful for a couple of things, you do need to do training as if you have players not training well for a start that affects morale yet you say morale is important but training doesnt need to be done.... training is massive for player improvement whereby base some of the training around some additional focus you or setting or whatever you click yes to letting your assistant set!
Only encourage in-game if losing or drawing. Only praise in-game if you have 5 players at 7.0 or higher. Praise training avg only if it is 7.9 or higher. Never praising form is safest. Maybe if they were 8.0 over 5 recent games.
I praise training at 7.5 or greater -- sometimes a player or two will complain but if you choose you thin players should be praised for doing well they usually are fine with it
In regards to contracts, after asking the agent I always leave it a day or two before starting the renewal. Could just be a bug but I find that if the agent agrees to a lower wage, when you start talks with the player he still wants the original wage demands, however leaving it a day or two he then will accept the negotiated demands.
Kev, a late addition to the comments here. Could you please do a vid on how you execute transfers? Do you approach the agent first for his opinion of the market, or do you try the transfer room, etc? In other words, which methods work best for you, and in which circumstances? The same goes for loans. Thanks! You are a fun guide to FM!
"Don't do inverted wing backs" Why not? Pair them with wide centre backs on attack. As an alternate counter attacking system where you defend from the front and attack from the back. It works. But you have to build the squad for it. But when it works, its so good to see.
My favorite thing in FM24 is the Intermediaries. They can move players fast, really fast. It is really nice and I have seen a lot of success selling players all over the world.
In fairness, the player morale transfer policy works for Ange at Spurs right now. He generally looks to get rid of players due to their personalities and he's worked wonders at Spurs
Thank you so much. I had a very talented young player in need of a new contract. But I didn't want him to have a minimum fee release clause. Turns out you can speak to their agent and get him to agree to remove it. What a mug.
Great advices, thx a lot. You we're asking for ideas for another video like this. How about ceating a Video focused on the streamlining staff responsibilies. Especially when it comes to contracts for new players for our teams and 1st offers. Just an idea
Do a video on match analysis. For example you 1 nil down at half time and you are grateful for that because you are being battered. Don't know apart from passing what to looking for to change a game when you are being wrecked
Started a save with Warrington media thought we would finish 22nd and I’ve won the league with high line gengenpress with inverted wingbacks so that blows your conspiracy out of the window
Putting playeres in other position if we had to, remeber me in fm 13 or 14 dont kwon for sure i playing in a clube with national rep. But not a big club, but with them in the 2nd legue of the countrie days after the january Window close both my left backs and one of the rigth injury till the end of the season and the ones in u19 were trash so after looking after my squad i put one of the wingers with most defend playing on left back and trainning defense, next year on the 1st divison after the other 2 came back that one winger keep one playing left back and made it in the 1st division tema of the season, in left back position
When you do the contract renewal you left the new contract start as immediate - change that to at the end of current contract otherwise your paying him all this extra money for months unnecessarily
So letting good coaches take care of the training works fine usually? Also, does press conferences matter? Sometimes against big teams saying I don't expect to win helps me win but I'm not sure if they actually matter?
If your team is attacking really well and you get an email On coaching advice from your assistant to change attacking > tactical, DONT change this! I have changed this on a few saves and your team just stops creating chances and scoring goals
Tactics. Keep it simple. So very true. Even as the old Wellington boot wearer Drillo in Wimbledon. "Get the ball into the opponents penalty area ASAP and score". It worked for some time I recall, but bloody boring watching.
I had a question, I am new to Football Manager Simulators. I was always a Fifa (now FC24) player on console. Every time I have tried to get into FM in the past, I lost interest after the first hour or so. But now that I am bored with Ultimate Team on Fifa, I am trying to get into FM again, I actually installed Soccer Manager 2024 and its seems pretty clean and not too overwhelming. My question is, before I buy the console or PC version of Football Manager, does playing the iOS version help you understand a lot of the complex mechanics ?, I really..really "want" to like Football Manager (being a die hard gamer) 😀
When offering contracts I always remove signing on fee and agent fee and lock it, then offer 10-15% higher weekly wage works every time to save a few mil
I think the agents are really weird in this game, especially for contract negotiations... You only succeed in 20% of the cases to push the salary expectations down beforehand, let's say from 70K to 65K/week and then they start negotiating from 80K a week anyways and won't move one milimeter. So it's either there excact demand or nothing else
All of these tips work, but the only problem I have is that the wages players ask are so outrageous I still go under. I start my games in the Dutch Eredivisie. Any tips for that?
Just be strict if they ask for too much don't sign them. Find someone new it might take a minute it might take ten but there will be players out there 100% of the time
Idk if this still works since i have not played fm24 yet. However when you start a new save and you see a player or some players who you feel are higher wages than you can really afford. If they just joined the club and it says they just signed a contract you can still get rid of them instantly, just go to the contract dropdown and click mutal termantion and offer it to them, they should get unhappy and want to speak with you decline or try get them even more angry, then you can transferlist and offer out to clubs. This can be used to flip players from contract release day as well.
Jordan Pickford, unhappy: wants to move to a bigger club. Lollujo: "No, no, no, don't go! We can't afford to lose you! You insist? Oh, dear. You've left me no choice. I'll get to it right now." (*wink, wink*)
Besides these nice tips on playing, what is your judgement on the game so far mate. How much better than earlier versions ? Or where have they still got things wrong. Appreciate any kind of fair judgement after all your +400 hours on it. Of course as always we all wait for the big updates in January, but up to that time the hickups usely show up for gamers with your vast time in the game. (Haven't yet decided if this is a year to skip, so happy for some hints on the development. Watched your initial reactions when the game was released but those were not tested in-game as it should have been now) Thanks for just super great stuff you put up on YT.
I think it’s the best version they’ve ever made. The changes to transfers and positional rotation stuff are 2 of the best new features in a long long time.
@@lollujoGuess some of the things you mentioned that might be broken should be fixed. The corner kicks have been off and on issue over the years. Guess this new set-piece training and more detailed (we all wished for it) got it a bit off again.
As someone whos never played the game are there any tips for a first time player because I'd love to get into the game but everything seems so complex like team line up field positon and etc
I don't know if i'll get a response because it's an older video but in pre match tactics meetings should i listen to reduction and increases in roles of players to match a tactic or is that a false bit of info
I really enjoyed the Network game, its fun seeing everyone put into practice what they usually do but against each other@@lollujo The streamer showdown just stopped out of nowhere.
How do you defend in this game? I literally can't hold on to a 2 goal lead ever. My teams is always vulnerable to crosses and heeded goals even with tall defenders with good heading and jump reach. I alway leave huge spaces in behind too, between my full back and centre backs. Low line, drop off more doesn't do the trick. If anything it makes it worse because we're under constant pressure
I trap on the outside, which seems to slow down dribbles down the wing and ‘deny crosses’ which puts full backs on the crossers. I also always press FB/WB and Wide Mids/Wide AM. I hate crosses in against me too.
Don’t worry about it. Focus on signing young players with loads of potential, if you get relegated you won’t get sacked, so you can just go down and come back up again, but by then your young potential superstars have had 2 years of development and you’ll take the league by storm second time around.
I think tips for players on consoles, cos alot of these tips don't really work for consoleblike resting players I don't wanna hit players singularly to send them on a rest.😅
Does anyone know how to add the Team Bonding, Community Outreach and Match Review all at once and forever into the training schedule, rather than having to do it manually every single week??
I like changing the training schedule or personalizing it. You can see what you need. And after a certain amount of time it will automatically make match review post game and team bonding and comm outreach in the week
It does matter, but only just slightly. It also helps coaches accomodate faster to life at the club they just joined. The coaches to whom it matters the most are the HOYD and reserve/youth team managers. Seeing the HOYD bring wingers in the youth intake when you don't use any in your tactics can sometimes feel pointless. Reserve/youth team managers help their player gain tactical familiarity with your tactic if they have the same (or similar) formation preferences and similar tactical style preferences as yours... so that saves a little bit of time in player development.
Isn't FM supposed to be a simulation of how real football works? Because some of the stuff I learned about FM in this video definitely don't align with how football works. Everything seems so straight forward and there isn't a lot of ways or a sense of freedom to be successful.
Anyone know how to defend crosses? Seems like any time a team is on the break, when they cross the ball whoever is waiting in the middle almost always scores
If you don't have tall defenders with good Jumping Reach and Heading, try either setting your pressing to Trap Inside, or Stop Crosses, your players will try to avoid letting the opposition cross the ball into the box.
It's been here for a while now. You can only do it after a match so if you are creating a schedule you need to put the match in and then you can schedule review next day.
There are a lot of benefits for a good captain and team leader. For example if u have strong leaders who are high on the team leader hierarchy list and keep them happy, it’s far less likely falling out with the less influential players will have a negative impact on the squad as Squad personality is particularly useful as young players at a club may be influenced by it, in which case they gradually improve their rating in the attribute that the squad personality refers to over time. For example, if your club's squad personality is described as professional then some of your young players may gradually improve their Professionalism attribute as a result. Also leaders are always important in games for managing leads, or not getting negative when losing, thus encouraging the players around them. Most good leaders come with great hidden personalities like their Professionalism, Resolute, Temerament and Pressure Handling. If these are high then that can have a significant in tough situations.
What the hell? The installments are broken? So, you can buy let's say three 100mil players with the budget of 60mil. Paying the 20mil per player upfront and 80mil per player in installments? So then you should pay 25mil times 3 for the next three years? So you don't actually pay those 75mil per season??? I mean that is a game breaking bug right there.. I had no idea about this. So if you are the seller does it mean you never get those 75mil per season?
Tbh i dont think it really matters since the ones who do match your tatic may not be that good and the good ones you might not see until your clubs reputation is higher that is if you are not a club with at least 3 stars of reputation.
The only time that overly matters I’ve found is HOYD as they’ll bring players through in their preferred formation so if you play a 4-2-3-1 and your HOYD has preferred formation of 5-3-2 than you may not get a young AM or wingers come through very consistently

Just be strict if they ask for too much don't sign them. Find someone new it might take a minute it might take ten but there will be players out there 100% of the time
Talking about the FM Streamer Showdown, what happened to that? Why was the last one FM22?
Not many of these features are available on the mobile and console versions. I really want to get back to playing it on steam but money is tight
11:53 but we lose all the fun in thet way IMO
It’s not a video about having fun, it’s a video about improving at FM. And for most people, this will improve their results
This stuff is great. What it shows also is that most of the features in the game are just fluff
Regarding unhappy players, it's SAF said "get rid of the c***s".
Watched your initial reactions when the game was released but those were not tested in-game as it should have been now)
Thanks for just super great stuff you put up on YT.
Number 1 tip, follow lollujo
Does the strwamer showdown still happen? Or the network game? Cannot remember it happening for FM23
They did not happen. Kev has suggested that a Network game could happen this year.
I don't know if i'll get a response because it's an older video but in pre match tactics meetings should i listen to reduction and increases in roles of players to match a tactic or is that a false bit of info
Unless I have missed something, the bit about speaking to the agent before the player is an option I have never seen on the console version.
you can also stack installments, they last over more years but you could pay even less upfront.
Transfers aren’t always done on instalments, at least nothing like how this is
My players aren’t happy with power training. How do I get better power training. I know it’s in condition but then I’m clueless
i enjoyed the Streamer Showdown and also the Network game. Why do neither take place anymore?
I’m ready to go with both of them as soon as everybody else is. Getting everyone together at the same time is harder now we’re all busier.
I really enjoyed the Network game, its fun seeing everyone put into practice what they usually do but against each other@@lollujo The streamer showdown just stopped out of nowhere.
What tactic do u use mainly pal
How do I keep my team up in the championship when I shouldn’t have gone up in the first place ?
LOANSSSSSS
Don’t worry about it. Focus on signing young players with loads of potential, if you get relegated you won’t get sacked, so you can just go down and come back up again, but by then your young potential superstars have had 2 years of development and you’ll take the league by storm second time around.
@@lollujo if the league objective is to attempt to avoid relegation, otherwise you can get sacked
@@franciscopalma7742 yeah, implied by "shouldn't have gone up in the first place"
I think tips for players on consoles, cos alot of these tips don't really work for consoleblike resting players I don't wanna hit players singularly to send them on a rest.😅
I want to gegenpress with leeds but the game tells me to use the 4-2-4 formation instead of the 4-2-3-1. So is Farke wrong here;😅
Does anyone know how to add the Team Bonding, Community Outreach and Match Review all at once and forever into the training schedule, rather than having to do it manually every single week??
U could copy and paste for each week? That’s what I do
I like changing the training schedule or personalizing it. You can see what you need. And after a certain amount of time it will automatically make match review post game and team bonding and comm outreach in the week
I wonder, how many hours do you have in general?
Do you need to get coaches who play the same formation you use or doesn’t it matter?
I don’t think it matters. I never check.
Stop Crosses does seem to slow the hem down
Is match review in training new for fm24? Never seen it until this video and ive been doing my own training for over 2000 hrs of game time 🙈
It's been here for a while now. You can only do it after a match so if you are creating a schedule you need to put the match in and then you can schedule review next day.
Player-rating match should only be from 0-5 instead of 0-10 or 5-10 its most...
Don't make overhaul changes all in one transfer window... Do it in stages
only 400 hours i been playing fm24 nearly 600 hours
I don’t leave it on while I’m asleep though…
On console, does it matter who your captain is or if you have lots of team leaders, what is the benefit of a good captain and good team leaders?
There are a lot of benefits for a good captain and team leader. For example if u have strong leaders who are high on the team leader hierarchy list and keep them happy, it’s far less likely falling out with the less influential players will have a negative impact on the squad as Squad personality is particularly useful as young players at a club may be influenced by it, in which case they gradually improve their rating in the attribute that the squad personality refers to over time.
For example, if your club's squad personality is described as professional then some of your young players
may gradually improve their Professionalism attribute as a result.
Also leaders are always important in games for managing leads, or not getting negative when losing, thus encouraging the players around them. Most good leaders come with great hidden personalities like their Professionalism, Resolute, Temerament and Pressure Handling. If these are high then that can have a significant in tough situations.
You played how many hours? Thanks for the tips but maybe spend a bit more time outside or something lol
The money still changes hands between the clubs, but it makes no difference to your budgets, so doesn’t really impact you as the manager.
To be honest its not FM that's broken, It's FFP that's broken. Look at chelsea...
400 hours?! With my measly 320 hours
All well n good when ur on PC lol im on console lol
Am saving up for a cheap laptop that can play this game ,don't know what laptops specs I need
When signing coaches should I be signing ones that match my tatic am using ie 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 etc????
Tbh i dont think it really matters since the ones who do match your tatic may not be that good and the good ones you might not see until your clubs reputation is higher that is if you are not a club with at least 3 stars of reputation.
I’ve never felt the need to check that kind of thing
The only time that overly matters I’ve found is HOYD as they’ll bring players through in their preferred formation so if you play a 4-2-3-1 and your HOYD has preferred formation of 5-3-2 than you may not get a young AM or wingers come through very consistently
@@seanchandley1604I've found their stats matter more than their preferred tactics.
They always try to bring in someone in their own image.
Are these tips taxed??
guys, like the video
Premier League is soooo hard for me, I have the best team in the World, but every match, Mistakes Leading to Goals. I've managed in France, I never had this issue. What could be the problem?
Tip 2 is a great way to ruin your club financially and you end up paying more when you pay in installments
Like I said in the video - it doesn’t ruin the club financially. It should, but it doesn’t.
@@lollujo Does it work for smaller clubs? What about financial fair play? Or affecting following season's transfer budgets? I think more research needs to be done, assuming anyone else gives a shit which they probably don't.
If you know you've got a tactic that will massively improve your position (and thus future finances), it'll pay for itself.
The national flags have disappeared on my save. Any idea?
I started just playing this on Xbox as it was free on game pass. Seems so much easier to navigate with a mouse. Does anyone know if I can plug a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse into the Xbox and it work? I have a Mac that I was trying to see if I could use Xbox game pass to get it for free on there but I think you might need PC game pass for that to work? Any help appreciated
