Travis is ... happy? Smiling? I’m so confused. Great content. I like your teaching style.
LOL. I love to teach and train.
This is really great. So many people move from side control to north-south, and I had no idea what to do. This helps a lot. Also, the recovery part helped a lot. Usually when I've been within distance of grabbing the leg, I've tried to go for the single but had no base. Now I know to go for half guard. Thanks!
I glad this helped. I like coming up on the single to but some people just keep a very good base.
Great video and techniques! I hate to throw a "what if" question at you. But what if both your elbows are trapped under their hooks and you can't get one to the floor? Work one free?
Thank you for all your great insight.
That is actually a great question and. I'll try to get in answered for you in a shorter video.
Steven's drops the secret weapon! Lol
I have a lot of them. I'll try to keep them coming.
Frosty Nickal !!
Great video, my 8yo gets stuck in NS and doesn’t have the power to do the normal escapes.
Any suggestions? We have been working on leg swing to create space but they are just not as developed as Agustin and grip strength and explosive moves don’t seem to work as well for them
oooh, how long I was looking for this solution! Thank you so much! This video is so valuable! Anyone who struggles with north south escapes understand the importanceof this video! Can you make video where you conect escapes, I mean you defend side control - the opponent moves to kesa gatame, then when you defend kesa gatame he moves to north south or back to side control. In other words when the opponent constantly switches between these 3 positions thus not letting you to escape and making you make a mistake in one of them?
4:09 is critical for success
thank you
Hope it helps you get out from bottom!
@@TravisStevensgrappling i do judo and it will defo help me out thanks
Glad it can help!
Anytime!
Any suggestion for when the guy is playing it lower, using his belly or hips to get your head turned and crushed to the mat? (one of my favorite pins when I've got topside n/s)
Thats a great question. I do have an answer for that. Its just a little more advanced! So it didn't make it into the video.
@@TravisStevensgrappling No problem, you can only cover so much in one video. Heavy pressure hold downs tend to be a bit stickier to get out of, and a bit trickier to film with clarity, for sure. But if you get around to it, that would be great.
Or even a great sub-topic? Relieving of heavy pressure from bottom or whatever, from several positions? Heavy Kesa, head crushing North/South, grapevined mount, etc. can be tricky for people not used to aggressive pinning strategies. Judo/SAMBO vs. BJJ oftentimes. As you've got such a decorated background in both, it would be really interesting to get your take on it.
In any case, keep up the great work! Really enjoying your videos.
Thanks, I just copied and pasted that into or video shoot schedule. I'll get around to it.
@@TravisStevensgrappling , dude, much appreciated. Coming from a more heavy-pressure approach club, it will be super useful info. Fighting out of crushing pins can definitely be a challenge, especially if you're outweighed by a bit. Obviously, it's best to head them off, but sometimes you just get caught.
Agreed sometimes you just get caught. But stay calm and focus on the task at hand.
Great content keep it coming
Working on trying to get one video out a week for now. Wednesday is going to be the posting day.
Oh this is dope. Would love to see more trouble shooting positions like this
I'm going to try and get a post out a week. Do you have any other troubleshooting positions you would like to see? Looking for ideas.
@@TravisStevensgrappling stopping the berimbolo, stopping x guard, stopping bow and arrow are my top ideas
I'll add those to the list! But just so we are on the same page there is a difference between stopping someone from getting to a position vs knowing how to fight out of a position. I'm assuming you mean fight out of right?
@@TravisStevensgrappling yeah thank you
Can the last escape work nogi? Thanks
Yes, it can but you have to be careful of your partner sitting back for your foot in a sub only situation/rule set.
