All the best for basic training buddy. Being nervous isn’t a bad thing, just means you really want it and will perform well because of it.

It sounds like things have changed a lot since I was in the army (1960s - 1979s). In those days the two biggest peace-time "crimes" were drug use and being gay. If you were caught using recreational drugs it would result in a two-year visit to Colchester military prison followed by a dishonourable discharge. If you were gay and got "caught in the act" you would be immediately posted to somewhere far, far away.

I was in the US Marines. One the absolute worst things was to be late for work or formation. I became so trained to be on time, I still am to this day. And boot camp was in 1971. My Ex wife was in the Coast Guard and they were rather laisse-faire about being on time to things. Her running late drove me crazy. All three of my kids are trained to be on time to things.

@@MilitaryFitness Okay thanks for trying anyway ! I got a call today from someone in the army apologised for the delays and the fact no one had been in contact. They said they are trying to now get me booked in ASAP so in the next few weeks and they also suggested I go for technical operator. I was already applying for operator intelligence and household cavalry as a backup but could you give a bit of an insight into technical intelligence. Thanks again !

    • @MilitaryFitness

It would depend on your job and if you have Developed Vetting. If you have vetting then there are quite a few countries off limits. Once you have left service you will be ok

Years ago, I had to report a civvy work colleague for being a dirty, smelly individual. I felt ashamed about going to my immediate boss to do this, like a school snitch. But I told him that due to my previous background: Army for 12 years, and before that I had been a Punk for 9 years, I did not know how to be diplomatic about telling someone to get a bath.
