Thank you for posting this video. It is hard to find information about iuds causing weight gain. Google results say not likely or a low percentage of people gain 5 pounds temporarily. Since getting an iud I’ve gained 18 pounds and I’ve never had issues with weight in my life. I think I am going to get it removed and see what happens. 🙂

You are very welcome, I'm glad you found it helpful. I made the video for the reasons you are stating - there really isn't a ton of info out there talking about significant weight gain with an IUD. It was so very frustrating. Hope everything works out for you! Sending positive vibes!

I had mine for 5 years and it’s time to get a new one this month. I noticed the closer it got to the 5 year mark, my cycles returned and I started losing weight. Which led me to believe it wasn’t as effective because I gained weight while having it. Hopefully the new one I get, it doesn’t cause weight gain.

@@Iamthee_DivineGoddess wow, really? That’s interesting… I’ve never heard of someone cycle returning toward the end on the iud life… but makes sense. I went to get mine replaced at the 5 year mark and my doc kept telling me I could wait longer, but I didn’t know if I’d be able to even tell if the effectiveness was fading. Thanks for sharing!

Just got my Mirena implant out PLEASE get something different. It gave me so many side effects. Theres been a class action lawsuit AGAINST Mirena. It stopped accepting claims for the class action lawsuit in 2021. Same year I got on. Started making me bloated and look pregnant, started causing neuropathy problems - other people have spoken to this. I just had a mass in my reproductive system. I had NO problems prior to Mirena. ZERO health problems. Dont do it

This video is so helpful. I had the mirena put in six weeks ago under general anesthesia as they also did an D & C procedure. Yesterday I got it removed at my post operation appointment. My pain had been terrible every day, 14 days of bleeding and then spotting every day, heavy bloating , cramping and vomiting lots. So yesterday I requested it out. Don't think it working for me at all.
I have possible endometriosis and will be finally going to an top specialist in endometriosis shortly to get some answers. I have been to so many Gynaecologists and they all don't really believe me, but my gp definitely expects endometriosis. Top tip find the right Gp and go straight to an endometriosis specialist.

I have had my Mirena IUD since April 2019 to treat my Endometriosis. It has definitely been effective in stopping my menstrual cycle and not getting pelvic pain, including bad cramps. However, I have gained quite a lot of weight. I look pregnant and am constantly bloated. I also get migraines.

They do the same thing with things like induction using Pitocin. That is WAY more dangerous than the want to let on. I don't know if most doctors just don't know this stuff, they're just not told - or if they're being deceptive. I don't know, I suspect it's some that are deceptive & many that are just ignorant. But, there are a lot more side effects to a lot of these things than what we're told. Like, right now, I have SEVERE edema/swelling/water retention & I'm pretty damn sure it's from this stupid IUD. I want it out so bad, but I don't have a doctor & am scared to do it myself.

I’m guessing it’s because I’m still new to this.. so I’m not sure how this IUD is hitting my body aside for the lesser flow on bleeding… but yeah.. thanks for this.. I’m still monitoring and checking is bad /hopefully it’s stays positive for me… aside from weight gaining and bloating ..lol 😅

I’ve had Mirena for 4.5 years, since I had my son. I don’t think I’m going to get it replaced after it expires, just removed. I’ve been on Phenephrine and Saxenda, and I’m also a gastric sleeve paitent so I KNOW how to lose weight, I lost 150lbs before & gained 90lbs during pregnancy & it just seems impossible to drop after the IUD. nothing is working and I’ve stayed the same weight for 2 years. By the grace of God, I was able to lose 50lbs when my son was 2 after I got on the phenephrine & saxenda, but that plateaued a year ago and I’ve been struggling so hard with my body since. So I still need 40, minimum, because I never hit my goal weight from the start. Also losing the weight after my IUD was the hardest experience, harder than losing 150lbs before I had my son and had the IUD. Also, I’ve been to the Gyno so many times for different kinds of bacterial infections not yeast (yeast is fungus, not a bad thing but bacteria is just slightly different) and I’ve never had these bacterial infections before the IUD and nothing else would be contributing to having too much bacteria in my system. The bacteria is coming from the IUD

Forgive yourself for not knowing sooner. We are wired like that and unfortunately just get "used to it" i waited until i started having passing out spells, would get really light headed and lose vision and it started happening more frequently. Its hard to find the company or doctors describing the side effects. Best place to explore are the women with the experience! I had mine removed today. Not excited for the crash but i do feel better in terms of cramps and feeling heavy. We need to keep talking about this. ❤

And I've been feeling soooo much better since removing it. I really appreciate your words and insight into your experience as well.
