I thought about doing splitters exactly like this. The biggest issue is I couldn’t think of a way to make a proper leading edge so opted for a different technique. A quick tip for finding leaks, get a 2 foot section of the tube you use for infusion and put one end right near your ear and wave the other around the area of suspected leak and you should be able to pinpoint leaks.

I haven't figured out how to make a smooth transition either. I'm not an upholstery tech. Haha. I have yet to figure out a smooth way to wrap the edges or outside corners. Good tip for leaks though. Thanks!

the beautiful leaks in the vacuum seal =)

Off the top my head I would say the leaks are coming from the release on the table itself, which makes it difficult for the tape to seal to the surface.

I have a composite shop and the bagging is the worst part and when you suck air that sucks as well. I use the thumb screw clamps and infuse a little slower a part that size takes me about a hour

yea I didn't mean to infuse that quick. Just lack of experience. haha

Hi! I want to make a splitter too for my race car and I was so inspired by your video I live in Colombia and aero development is not so big and I have a couple of questions. What kind of foam did you use and I saw you used foam for your diffuser molds, did you cover them with gel coat or how did you manage to achieve that perfect surface and did you CNC them? That would be it. Thanks a lot in advance

I just used a 2 part 5lb density foam. Just fiberglass, body filler, and paint to finish them. All done by hand.

@@KrebsbachRacing Great! I´ll try to to them like that. I also wanted to know what kind of 3/8in foam sheet you used for the splitter, I was looking fot XPS in my country but they come in high thickness size, about 40mm. Thanks for the response!!

Looked like you used Stretchlon 200 bagging film. Throw all of that away and use anything else. That stuff is garbage. I tried it 8 times and never got a single bag without holes, even on a flat piece. I used an ultrasonic leak detector and the bag had holes all over the place.

I know that usually you use amount the same weight of carbon fiber in resin, but with the added core, how do you account for the amount of resin?
