    Can you test all of these sets against a true High End Cine set?
    Show us how close they all come, yet what they still can't quite achieve.

    Just thought I'd share some of my experience with these lenses. I just received the 5 lens set 2 days ago and its already plagued with quality control issues. The aperture on my 100mm and 25mm squeal and make a moderate metal on metal rubbing sound. The 50mm's focus barrel is rubbing metal on metal when racking focus and is much louder than the other lenses in the set. The other lenses in the set are quieter, but I can still hear them focusing, which is not normal.
    I'm working with DZO to get these issues fixed now. Will update when I get it resolved. Hope its just an early manufacturing issue and it gets resolved. The image is quite amazing.
    Update DZO is working with me on getting them repaired. I will post another update after I get the lenses back. But honestly at this price point its pretty discouraging having to deal with shipping a lens set back and forth. I won't have the lenses for at least 1-2 weeks after just purchasing them.
    **Final Update: Finally got the lenses back after waiting over a month. They mostly resolved the issues, but the focus rings on some focal lengths still make some noise. It's not enough to warrant sending it back again, I can live with it, but I'm still a little disappointed they couldn't make them dead silent. This is what you get at this price point.

      Thanks for this!! QC seems to be a problem w/ DZO. A few years ago the lens guy at B&H talked me out buying DZO glass bc there was too much play in the mounts. He definitely said it’s a case of “you get what you pay for”.
      Your comment was the last straw. I won’t risk buying their products just to save a few bucks. 🫡

    • @AlexanderTheFirstMate
      @AlexanderTheFirstMate Месяц назад +3

      @@StringerBell2002 No problem. I believe we should have all the information before making big decisions. That said I've heard about the quality issues too but I'm going to give them a shot and keep the lenses. These are supposed to be their flagship model and I'm sure they learned from all the defects in the past since they are still a fairly new company. I'll try to keep this post updated if any issues occur. But the fact is I'm willing to gamble a bit on the build quality to get the high quality image at a lower price...FOR NOW. We will see how DZO holds up, but so far I've got warranty for two years from the store I purchased from, and they took care of me when the initial issues came up. So...lets go find out!

    • @enriquetoso
      @enriquetoso 2 месяца назад

      @@DaCarnival I belive that Tokinas and Sigmas are the sharpest and more telecentric lens ever made, even more that Signature Primes (alson made or at least designed in Japan) Zeiss Supremes, etc.

    • @ChadtheFilipino
      @ChadtheFilipino Месяц назад +1

      I own 3 Vista Primes and I just saw that DZO made these higher end cine primes, but tbh the Tokina still take the cake to me. Of course they are more expensive, but DZO has always had a magenta shift and CA problems (you can see it in the close up test and sharpness test here too) that I disliked and turned me off from their lenses.

  • @grasworxTTGameplan
    @grasworxTTGameplan 3 месяца назад +3

    ALWAYS on point with the perfect balance of technical and aesthetic-without the obvious bias towards the traditional Eurocentric/Japanese imaging ideals.
    As excited as I am about these lenses, I am hoping to see someone test them with a spectrum of non-white skintones. We always hear about how warm and complimentary the skintones are...but we never see them tested with black folk. As a sports shooter, 99% of the subjects I work with are dark-skinned and sweating in the hot, tropical midday sun. There is no such thing as "highlight rolloff" - it's near-true black shadows and blazing white hotspots from the sweat. Would love to see some testing with these DZO products under the chai latte-to-café-espresso range of skintones under really challenging light conditions!!

    The flange overstand of rear element would be interesting - often a not given info. It's because of the usability with (ND-)Filter slot-in adapters for RF/Z/E/L .... mounts. For example the NiSi Athenas are way to long at the back side to use this kind of adapters.

Can you include Meikes in the big test? Heck, if you wanted to throw Rokinon Cine DS lenses in the mix we can really see how things stack up. We are spoiled for choice these days but we have to remember options that have been available for a while, I mean, I even saw a recent Alexa LF lens test series where the Zeiss CP.2s looked all around better than many of the more recent options.
