Since it first opened in 1964, our family stayed there every year. The steps to the Lobby used to be so fancy and the Lobby itself back in the 60's and 70's was breathtaking. Many cocktail parties, meet and greets held there. Breaks my heart to see it in this condition! It would be nice to see it fixed up and remain a motel or, like a few other motels, convert the original units into condos if need be. Tearing it down and building one of those ugly box type condo buildings would ruin the atmosphere of Wildwood Crest.
It is a good follow-up. I don't like the smell of it...I hope the owners just don't want to give up and condemn the building and start over...Fingers crossed!
Not sure if it still holds water but at least North Wildwood was corrupt. A friend had a house a few house off the bay that had a narrow lot next store. He asked the neighbor on the other side to go in halves & purchase lot before somebody builds on it. Neighbor went to building department and was told that reason lot was empty for so long was that is too narrow to legally build a house on. Year later house got built.
Awesome video! Nice follow-up. Something seems fishy. I love the passion you have for wildwood the buildings and everything else in it. And let the camera girl know that she always does a great job helping you with the camera work. 👍 Lot's of extra pillows. Love ya brother and tell the wife I said hello 👋 🙏🏻
This needs to be saved!!!! It's bad enough all the adjacent motels around there are gone like the Kona Kai, Singapore, the waterways and the casa Bahama , hi Lilly, etc....
We stayed at this hotel a few years back as a last minute decision to go down fir a few days. We could not wait to get out of the hotel, we actually wanted our money back the minute we stepped into a mold smelling room. Unfortunately the owners would not refund us so we had no choice but to stay. Worst experience ever. It could be such a beautiful hotel if the right people owned it, sad to see the disrepair it’s in.
Something is not right.. I agree with you it looks like they want to Condemn and tear down.. That would be shameful but you never know. We stayed at the Oceanview a few summers..
Hi Joey--this is not good news. Maybe the developer's financing fell through, or the renovation became A Bridge Too Far. I am hoping that we're successful (since I was a writer) in saving the lobby. My bet is that the hotel will be ripped down as unsaveable.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark! Looks like they ran it into the ground so it can be condemned & torn down. Really would be nice if it could be renovated & run as a motel. No more condos! You used to be able to see down Ocean Ave & see the Waterways, Kona Kai, Hi Lili, Sandcastle. Now it's ugly condo canyon!
That's probably their plan to let the building fall apart so there is no way to save it. Let's be honesty, If they really cared to save it than they would have done it a while ago especially when the owner is giving up having the place open this summer and probably losing the money they needed to invest in the property.
Something's not right. I think the game plan is to let it be condemned and they'll tear it down and get exactly what they want. I hope they're watching your video Joey so they know there's grants out there for them to keep it as a doo-wop building. This way they get financing and we get to save another doo-wop building. 🤞🤞🤞
Likely financing issues have ruined the business case on it. Real estate market has ground to a halt with the stock market crashing and rising interest rates. This building will rot for a few years until they are able to get it torn down completely.
@@WildwoodVideoArchive Yet the condos built on the Singapore site went quickly and I'd think that many families are foregoing expensive flights and travel for stays closer to home. A lot of condos are rented out via Vrbo and Airbnb. My bet is they got into it and discovered the extent of the work against the inflating costs.
I’m gonna miss that place
So many memories I have working there at the Front Desk 12am-8am shifts during the summers of 88-91

It used to be called The Admiral East and the West was across the street they resembled two boats looking at each other right
Thank you for the update Joey. Guess we are still in a holding pattern.
Joey you really do a great job
Thanks Joey, I was wondering what was going on 👍🙏❤️😎

Nah, they will let the property get condemned, tell everyone to go take a hike as they knock it down, and sell the land for much more than they think.
Thanks Joey!

Joey deserves a bench or part of the boardwalk named after him

Thanks Joey.See you on the beach in July.
So sad, we have stayed there many times. We have many good memories.

Joey should buy it and run it
Believe you me, if I had the money I would!
Thanks, Joey! Why don’t you buy it? 😁
I wish I could. Last time it check it had a massive price of over 5 million + renovations would be a half a million. But I would had loved to do it
I am interested in the mini golf animals !

It NEEDS to stay. There is no alternative.
It is listed as "Pending" sale in the Multiple listings.
hey! It's said pending since January 2022
@@WildwoodVideoArchive What is holding up the sale?
Wishing for the best!! All sounds a bit odd.
I think since the market is not as good and I think it's going to get a big make over and stay a hotel 🤔.

Yup! Demolition by neglect has already started.

Probably just costing too much to fix it the right way.
Keep up the the good fight. We don't need another boxy monstrosity just to satisfy some greedy developer.Get the Governor envoled.
There's something rotten in wildwood crest sounds like politics got involved that's not good sign
