Lightning storms on the island are super rare!! Here in Victoria I only remember 2 in two years!! Glad you got to film that treat. Super awesome surfing out there! Keep crushing out there!!
Showed up at Cox the other day to a bystander telling me to run and help a woman caught out in the surf. Saw her in your arms as I hit the water. Good looking out man! I rescued a couple people from that area by the rocks last year.
Thank you so much bro, and a huge props to you for the rescue yourself. That was a pretty sketchy and scary situation and it happens far too often out here. I know we're still a long ways away from getting lifeguards on our beaches but the general public definitely deserves better info and guidance on where and when it's okay to be in the water and when it's not. It's still pretty much the wild west out here and it's kind of gnarly that average good Samaritans have to potentially put their life on the line to act as lifeguards in the moment when things happen.
Thank you! It's definitely still wild out here and even though the surf scene is booming we are still a long way from having Lifeguards. It's nice to be able to help people in need when unexpected stuff like that happens! 😊🙏
When I moved to the island in 91. There was only one option for rescue. Me. Sure other people surfed but I would be the only one out surfing florencias famous outside righthander. Wikaninish had a giant rip that would pull you out to the middle of the ocean for a long mushy left. It still does. Lots of fun watching beginners pulled out to sea on there longboards. Hope to catch up with you one day on the water. It must be nice living on the right side of this island. I get out twice a month now that I’m retired. Mex for a month and then Bali for my 60th. Ulu here I come! Keep up the fun vibe. Surfing is life.
Thank you! Right now the water is around 10 degrees Celsius but typically it is a bit colder by now since this year we have warmer temperatures and milder weather with El Nino.

Indeed, I can only remember a handful of times in the last decade up here where it was more than a few rumbles of thunder! Thanks again! ❤🌊
They just keep getting better
Thanks brother! It helps so much to have supportive friends like you to keep the motivation going! 💪📈

Can't wait to make it over for a trip someday. Some of my good friends have traveled and surfed there and it sounds like an incredible place!
