Heard this song the other night but the signal was weak, couldn't make out who it was performing, looking on utube for it, it was an old performance from the 20's or 30's, but found this high school band doing an excellent job of it, the singer looks like Veronica Lake.

Towards the beginning the band director can be seen making disappointed facial expressions as the clarinetist soloist. It can also be noticed that the soloist is shaking heavily, meaning that he is under pressure. Just imagine being 15-18 and playing an original duke ellington composition in a world-renowned jazz institution in front of likely thousands of people. I’m glad that at the end the director made of happy gesture towards the clarinet. These kids are absolutely crazy!

Hah, that director is actually mine, that's not a face of disapproval, it's his stanky face!

It's most definitely a stank face! An approval face if anything! He can be mean to us sometimes, but not THAT mean. Haha! - the vocalist :)

That face was the equivalent of saying “hot damn”
