In his lifetime, Ellington's scores were under lock and key - nobody could see them. If he could have seen this video, he'd be rattled to see others playing this - but thrilled by what he heard and saw.
THIS IS HOW SWING JAZZ SHOULD BE PLAYED. THEY ALL MUST DO A LOT OF LISTENING TO OLD JAZZ RECORDINGS TO PLAY THE WAY THEY PLAY. THEY ARE ALL AMAZING! VERY HAPPY TO SEE SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP OF YOUNG PEOPLE OF ALL RACES AND GENDERS. DOESN'T MATTER WHO OR WHAT YOU ARE IF YOU PLAY GREAT WE ARE ALL ONE! LET THE DIVERSITY OF THIS GROUP OF TALENTED PEOPLE MAKING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC TOGETHER BE AN EXAMPLE TO THE REST OF EVERY PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD HOW WE SHOULD ALL WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE GREAT RESULTS! FOR A PIANO TO PLAY GREAT MUSIC IT NEEDS BOTH WHITE AND BLACK KEYS!
Sometimes the articulations in the trumpets and saxes seemed a little, not lazy, a little too loose. That said, this band does one thing well that few high school bands can do: dynamics. Also love that bass player! Coming from a fellow bassist.
the solo artists are just great. If you couldn't see them, one would think they be professionals. Will say the piano player just doesn't fit in with jazz, more a classical player..
This guitar killed it!!!!
roosterslime4119 stone cold face
lol
That's Cosimo Fabrizio one of my past karate students, he comes from an extremely talent family.
yes!!!!!!
I know him personally!!! what a guy

It's a damn shame how low these views are; this should be famous!
damn str8!
It is terrible. Meanwhile modern music is dumbing everyone down 😔
These kids are incredible. They give me hope for the future of jazz.
that rhythm section though jeez
the pianist wasn't that good but the rest of them wow
Pianist ain’t good tbh
@@parsaspianocafe2582 i thought the piano was great
Nah she ain’t trust me lol
Videos years old now but she’s playing just fine. Just some gatekeepers judging too early. She’s probably a total pro now
Thank you to see these young men and women playing jazz. I could see a golden delight in these young great future musicians. Thumb up. “Just Wow.”

The poor bari sax player lol got little applause even though his solo was really solid
Applause do not matter. Jazz listeners know what is good that they appreciate without clapping. We feel it in our minds.
@@lewieq9596 I agree with you 100 percent
I, for one, don't like to applaud after every solo because you can't hear what the next soloist is doing.
@@bonnieprater5124 Yeah, I think it was because the trombone solo started right after
That guitar player tho....next BB King
Charles Pan on alto sax plays so relaxed and his tone is almost like Johnny Hodges's !!!
There was a glimpse of Hodges!! Also Gonsalves.
This swings so hard!
... was für tolle junge Künstler vieler Nationen.
Just a FANTASTIC perfomance!!
The cannonball trill!
Somewhere Jimmy Blanton is smiling...what a great bass player!!!
great to see such an musically appreciating crowd
It’s pretty, pretty, pretty good
Mans was just chillin while he destroyed the guitar

The altoist’s got some soul! 🎷😀
Great band !!!
the guitar player solo was swinging
Who is the pianist. Awesome!!! The Duke would be so proud. The guitar looks like Charlie Christian
MAN! This is fantastic...that kid on sax sounded like Hodges or Lester Young for a few
minutes...
the bass player fixing his glasses at 0:20 is so cool
fantastic
the little smirk the sax did when he was done 😏
Great . Duke would have been proud.
hmmm so U made a song about me epic
What a fucking tasty guitar solo.
Oof missed Bb there Mr. Trumpet 1 4:47
Dude... I feel so bad for the Bari Sax. THIS IS LITERALLY YOUR SONG... and the rhythm section literally takes it for their own.
Did you manage to record the whole festival?
No, sorry - I only recorded NA.
Guitar Solo: 2:29
That guitarist can really play.
🌼😀💙🌱
Good lord, well played.
Personally i think you should have lived a bit before playing jazz, and have at least 1 ex-wife and/or a drink/drug habit ;-)
If the drummer isn’t making faces, it’s time to do it again.
the solo artists are just great. If you couldn't see them, one would think they be professionals.
